We've dined here fairly often. The atmosphere is unlike anything in Milford, CT--it has a great vibe. The menu continually changes. This visit, we were disappointed to see the small plate section reduced to a few items. The food itself is delicious! The focaccia, the gnocchi, the pizzas, everything is very tasty and well presented. The drinks are very good here too. Unfortunately, every time we have dined here we get the same server. He is very very odd, awkward and every time he appears at the table, we get a sinking feeling. I believe our experience here would be so much better if we didn't get his person. We are always shocked to find he is still employed here.

Love love love everything about Strega!! Food, decor, ambiance, and service by Camilla and support staff. Camilla is a seasoned professional that makes her job look easy. She is very personable and friendly, doesn't rush you along and keeps the pace low key yet you never wait for anything. Highly recommend Strega and Camilla!!

We've been meaning to try Strega for some time and we're so glad we finally did! The food was outstanding, along with the service and the ambiance. We've already been raving about our experience to all of our friends. We highly recommend giving it a try!

The reviews set us up to have high expectations which weren't met..service was very slow..unless you wanted pizza or gnocchi your entre choices were very limited..and when some ingredients did not match price ..ie tomatoes with mozzarella were tasteless and colorless ..it was very disappointing ..maybe their energy and ingredients are being focused on the new New Haven location..

Food was some of the absolute best we have had since moving here. Gnocchi melts in your mouth and the sauces are spectacular. Portions are on the smaller side, but 2 of us were more than content sharing a pizza and three gnocchis. Definitely will be coming back & a must try for people in the area.

Pretty much everything that we ate was delicious. This included the ceviche. And the spinach cannelloni. We tried the lamb shank, but that was not as flavorful and a bit overcooked and some dry bits . Which is why we give it a four star rating on food. Were it not for that, It would be five stars.

i highly recommend strega in downtown milford. we went on a Tues night (couldnt get a res on fri/sat). so it was quiet overall, but they did have music playing. it's a small place so i can imagine it would be louder on weekend but i dont know for sure. apps were great: calamari with squid ink. not fried. they are presented in strips, they almost seem like a past. delicious. also charcuterie board well presented. entrees: lamb my brother said was delicious. i had gnocchi with pork ragu, came out sizzling hot and delish. my niece had the scallops and also a home run. desserts: deconstructed tiramisu= delicious. and peach cheesecake. light and yummy

The noise level of the music was such a turnoff that it is unlikely we will ever return. The music selection was interesting, uptempo, and at first at a comfortable volume that allowed easy conversation, but within 20 minutes of our 6:00pm arrival, my guests and I could barely hear each other, and we realized that everyone in the half-full dining room was having to shout over the music to be heard, contributing to even more cacophony, as tho this was a disco. I could maybe understand playing music so loudly toward the end of the night, but there are so many better ways of making the place feel upbeat during the dinner hour without deafening noise. The table next to us gestured to the waiter to turn it down, but he just nodded, smirked when walking away, and did nothing. This does not make the place hip or cool, just irritating - and I really really wanted to like it. The scallop app and short rib entree were excellent. The pizza was, I suppose, better than average but not scintillating. One of ours had several large slices of fresh prosciutto laid across the top, an attractive presentation but impossible to bite through without large strings of the meat pulling away awkwardly from the rest of the slice, and was impossible to cut into smaller slices effectively. It would have been so much better if the prosciutto had been sliced into smaller strips then reassembled on top to give a similar effect but be easier to manage.

Our early dinner reservation was greeted as desired and our server Camilla was wonderful and enthusiastic. She is quite knowledgeable and patient and a pleasure. If considering this spot, check the menu before, otherwise you'll be changing your mind continually at the table. We are both old school family cooks and we enjoyed every bite.

Always a good time. Always amazing food. My MIL did get the red sauce gnocchi and I felt like it was a little over baked but besides that everything else was fantastic. We got the scallops, carpaccio, burrata, two other gnocchi's and the lamb shank. Yum!

While the entrees were tasty, the portions were very small for the price. Pizza was mediocre, crust too thick! Service was quick but restaurant was too noisy for conversation. Will not go back.

Enjoyed dining here last month. My only issue was with the waiter who when I asked if the truffles were fresh and shaved on both the pasta and the burrata appetizer---he said yes. Alas, they were jarred truffle slices... Perhaps I should have know from the prices listed, but still--maybe a little more training for the staff on exactly what fresh truffles are.... All in all though, a very nice meal. I will return and try again!

Very cool vibe. Servers were very courteous, but overwhelmed. Too many tables for 2 servers. Food wise the meatballs were outstanding and the focaccia with Ricotta was delicious. It is a small space so does get loud

The eggplant appetizer was so good. Someone ordered it again as part of their entrée. The arugula and fennel salad was pretty good, but definitely needed some salt and fresh cracked black pepper. Gnocchi with the yellow cherry tomatoes was pretty good. Short ribs were incredibly tender and flavorful, but I prefer having short ribs served on the bone so I know that it's really a short rib and not a chuck steak. The cannellini was pretty good, but we all thought it needed. Just a little something, not sure what Overall service was phenomenal. We had a great time and I would certainly go back. noise level kept getting louder as the evening progressed.

Wow wow wow. First time going. Food, service, decor all 10/10. We loved the mid century modern decor. Everyone there was so nice, educated and attentive. We got the carpaccio, scallops, one of the gnocchi and lamb. I would 100% order them all again the next time I go. There's so much positive things to say about the food I wouldn't have the time. I can't wait to go back. Definitely new top 3 places to eat along with TOS/ FHOC.
