We adopted our baby boy, best friend and what we were missing in our lives till this most amazing person named "Jen" witnessed my husband and I missing out on one dog after another but noticed exactly what we needed. This dog was not in old Saybrook adoption fair but in Bass City Rescue . and if I were interest to go there . We told Jen that we would be there tomorrow. We showed up and meet with Gerald. Fell in love and would do anything for our baby, best friend, buddy. We took him home and never looked back but to say THANK YOU JEN.... and to change his name to CHICO!

*I was purchasing "Hoka" shoes and it said MY MONEY WENT TO THIS PLACE RESCUE FOR DOGS.( BUT the rescue did NOT receive money) so I AM IN process of seeing what fraudulent-behavior is going on ONLINE-- yes Brass City rescue ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐thanks for your response - maybe we have both been hacked- as I have contacted my bank and trying to see - if they can reverse the transaction - my E-mail receipt has y'all's name-NUMBER on it etc- so seems like they are using y'all's name somehow to cover up themselves.- Thanks for being a pet rescue, we Love animals - but we were trying to purchase shoes - ??(hoka.sneakers.com) but sorry for any trouble -and beware of the hokasneaker.com website.

My review is coming from a later date. My daughter brought our beloved Bella into our lives, she became the center of our lives. I finally visited with Jen and Brass City and was taken by the concern and compassion for the animals in their care. I would definitely adopt another pet from this organization again. ?

I was very disappointed in my experience with this rescue. Only one of the several volunteers wore a mask during the current pandemic. The meet & greet was in a small, cluttered room about the size of a closet. There really wasn’t an opportunity for our current dog to interact with the pup we were looking at - one of our key reasons for a meet and greet. We are experienced dog owners and rescuers and this was unlike anything we had seen. They had also misrepresented the dog in their original post. It had said she was 16 lbs and was a hoarder, but only chewed up toilet paper. Now we were told that she chewed up many things. And she was quite obviously smaller than 16 lbs. We decided on our drive home that this rescue group wasn’t a good match for us. We both felt we should have turned around and left when we were led into that tiny room with the director sitting there with no mask on. We were notified that they had chosen the other couple for the dog, but “they would like to consider us for other potential dogs.” I never responded to the call. I now see the same dog re-listed, this time she is part of a bonded pair and is listed as only 12lbs - probably much closer to the truth. We have since adopted from another rescue.

Brass City is an excellent rescue group that is dedicated to finding the best homes for their pups. They are happy to work with their community to ensure lasting placements and best outcomes.

I applied for two dogs, who were from outer state. The administrator didn't care and was worried more about fund raisers instead of finding homes for the animals.

I am very pleased with this rescue. They were able to provide me info and support regarding my rescue dog from day 1. Responses from the rescue from my texts or calls were prompt. If you're honest with what you're looking for and understand that any dog you want to add to your family will need training, adjustment time and attention, you will find your pet here. I was told my pup was sweet but could be high-strung, so i enrolled her into training and she's great. If you're looking for your next best friend, consider taking a look at BCRA. Check out the website, call and ask questions. They will give you honest assessments of each pup. They are passionate about dogs. Also, if you're looking for a *free* or $50 dog, try your local animal control. Rescues charge differently bc of costs they absorb for shots, neutering, microchips and transport etc.
