I always get great service here - the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and Dr. Ernst is fabulous.
Unlike other vets, I don't feel like I'm being pressured to purchase additional tests or products, which is a relief.

Earth vet. She is very knowledgeable and understanding. Having managed several vet clinics in a previous life, I am very impressed and highly recommend her. Your pet will receive excellent, practical care.
Update: post-Covid I took my to older German Shepherds to update their rabies vaccines and other vaccinations. Dr. Ernst continues to earn my praise! I appreciate her understanding my concerns and wishes in caring for the girls. They have gone to.Dr. Ernst since they were little. Her staff is very courteous and professional. I highly recommend Kirby Veterinary Hospital.
8-1-24. I recently visited Kirby Veterinary Clinc. Dr Ernst's practice continues to reflect her compassion for my old dogs.

I feel blessed to have such a professional, compassionate and knowledgeable veterinarian. I completely trust and recommend Dr Ernst and all of the staff at Kirby Vet. My pup has a complicated health issue and Dr. Ernst goes above and beyond to both educate me and treat my pup. I am so grateful to have Kirby Vet taking care of us! They are the BEST!

I needed a form to register our dog, and they had it ready while we were on the phone. Gave options of how I could receive or pick up. Always polite on the phone and in person.

This is my second year with Kirby Vet and I plan on sticking with them. The Veterinarians as well as all the staff are wonderful, super friendly and helpful. Their prices are reasonable and just a great overall experience for me and my 2 pups.

I’ve been bringing my dogs to Kirby Vet since we moved to the neighborhood - the doctors have always taken excellent care of them and helped me understand whatever needed to be done. The few times one of my dogs needed something serious to be dealt with, they’ve been wonderful.

This vet does NOT care about their patients! My cat has a UTI. They did an injection for it, is not working and she’s getting worse. She’s had one before and been on meds. I have been calling every day since Monday (it is now Thursday) and every day there’s an excuse on why I haven’t gotten an answer, and every day I get told ‘let me leave a note for the vet’ and I have to answer all the same questions over and over. Shouldn’t that be in the system already?! And then I get told maybe tomorrow I will get an answer. My cat is sick! You are a vets office! I now have to take her to ANOTHER vet to get the help she needs.
Don’t take your animals there if you care for them

The front desk is rough around the edges and they over sold us on medication that they wouldn’t take back when I realized they had sold me the same thing (nextguard) last visit. That cost me $250… they would get a 1 star but they were so compassionate and great when my Molly died. I would move to another location but they are the only show in town.

I took my 3yo cat here for her annual check up and rabies shot, and left seriously impressed with the practice!
The intake and scheduling process is really comprehensive, and the folks at the front desk are friendly and helpful. While waiting for our appointment, I also got to hear them handling some emergent calls very thoroughly and compassionately. Fingers crossed no emergencies in our future, but I'd feel confident calling Kirby to figure out next steps if anything were to come up.
We saw Dr. Muir, who is extremely knowledgeable about feline vaccines and parasite control. He referred me to some helpful resources for monitoring disease prevalence in my local area, which were incredibly interesting to dive into. I do a lot of hobby reading on parasitic and infectious disease, and it was a treat to discuss these topics during the appointment.
The practice as a whole is clearly quite serious about getting animals on parasite control, which is especially important as we enter tick season this spring. They were also very supportive of my decision to order my cat's inhalers (feline asthma) from an international pharmacy, when I've received pushback in the past from vets who preferred I order from their in-house pharmacies.
The total cost for the appointment (exam and 3 year rabies shot) was about $160. This is in line with what I've paid at other practices, and didn't strike me as excessive.
We'll definitely be back!
