The produce has been consistently going down hill. Expired fruits and the all around price are out of control. At this point everything is less $ at whole foods

I went to get milk today at around 5:45pm. There was milk spilled on floor. One older gentleman was helping out other older customers in getting milk. He had a fat free milk in his hand which those customers didn't want and I said I want that. He completely ignored me so I just went ahead and took one. He was so rude and behaved so bad in front of other customer that he asked me not to go which is a lie he never did. He was too busy helping those customers. If you want people to not go in when milk is spilled , put up a board and say don't go and attend to all customers don't just one. Racism much!!!! Audacity to behave rudely with me!!! For what!! I have a sick family member at home for which I just needed milk. And it's festival day for Indians. Do you even have decency to respect all culture and all age. Next time someone behaves like this I am going to sue bigy for promoting racism and discrimination.

Extremely bad pizza and bad chicken. The pizza was extremely bad. My stomach hurt so bad and I had to go to the ER. The chicken was really bad. The man on the phone wasn't paying attention to what im saying at all. I had to repeat things 4 times this is crazy Big Y. I'll never be back again.

This is an update to my initial review. I greatly appreciate your response Bree. Thanks for being so thorough. I will definitely try the Ready chef go dishes now that I understand!

If you want any kind of meat, you should go somewhere else. Very little selection most days of the week. Sometimes you get lucky and go on the day they happen to have re-stocked but other than that it's slim pickings. Not to mention what little they DO have, is pretty overpriced.

Food is cheap but good for the price! pizzas are HUGE and so inexpensive. If you're looking for something out of this world, then maybe look somewhere else. but if you are looking for something inexpensive and still tasty, this is the place. grinders are good too! the men behind the counter can be rude sometimes though. that's my only qualm

Bree, the Store manager has addressed the following concern with her recommendation in the management response. This post is for people to be aware and to contact the STORE DIRECTOR as indicated by Store Manager Bree if the following situation happens to you as well: This store is my neighborhood grocery store so I frequent it often, sometimes multiple times a day. However, during lunchtime some "racist" people show up and bully minorities by getting in the way on purpose, threateningly moving towards us in aisles that have plenty of room for two people, not giving space to walk, or threateningly staring. They may not be from the neighborhood and seem to be a lunch break crowd. I was born and raised in CT, so I remember the 80s racism. This is worse because adults are regularly doing it. I wish there was something that could be done about this because it is wrong l, intrusive and deters me from going during lunch.EDIT: Bree addressed my concern below, in the management response, so I am increasing the rating to 5 star.

I did a light weekly shop here this week. Boy, did I treat myself like royalty. Since i had the day off, i stopped by the hot and cold prepared food depts to pick up lunch. I was going to an outdoor bluegrass concert at the Old State House on Hartford. Ct. I scored a Southwest Fresh Chicken Salad! Deelish!! The price was right in my budget. Yea!! Also found a few treasures in the gently damaged shelves. Got some Marvel bandaids for my next m7shsps!

As a grocery store, the prices here is slightly higher than stop and shop. I stopped by to pick up lunch. In general I found their cooked fish items the best. Fish and chips was my favorite. Buffalo chicken panini was ok. Clam chowder was good. I also took home some ready to cook items. Bang bang code fillet was my favorite among them. Ready to cook Indian food was my least favorite. Chicken tikka masala was not that good. Steak Fajita bowl and Taste India Curry Chicken was almost ok.

One of Big Y's first World Class Markets to open in the state of Connecticut 25 years ago. This supermarket has everything you want whatever's on the go or for all the cooking at home. Most of these products you find in aisles have great deals (LOW Prices!). During the winter months, Paczki doughnuts are sold exclusively at their stores. They're so popular (and so good; bought those at the other World Class Market last week and they tasted fresh) that they may be sold out after a short time. This is one of the grocery stores where we spend money on food. I like Big Y, so they trust us well like most of the time but overall, what a very impressive store that just had a remodel a couple months back. It looks nice and very clean! This is a SUPERMARKET that is well trusted by us based on their product

The store is bright and very clean, the staff was awesome. I’ve always liked big Y, I wish there was one closer to my house. I was visiting a friend who lives five minutes away from their local big Y.

I like this Big Y store, I've gotten sandwiches made before at this location and they've always turned out great. Always clean inside, and they have a lot of variety of different food products
