Cannot follow directions, makes executive decisions without consulting pet owner. My father in law dropped my Shetland sheepdog off for me at the end of April, with instructions to ask for a bath and a SANITARY shave. Instead, my double coated dog was shaved bald, with no hair left except a weird little puff at the end of her bald tail. She was miserable and freezing cold, even though I bought her clothes and sweaters and kenneled her with blankets in the evening, she couldn’t regulate her body temperature and just shook like a leaf all day long every day for months. I swore I would not go back. However I am due with twins very soon, and haven’t been able to bathe her myself. I had called the owner and discussed my dismay after the last groom, and she said she would groom her for free in an attempt to earn my trust back. My father in law offered to drop her off and ONLY get her bathed. NO trimming whatsoever as I am trying to get her coat to come back (it’s still extremely short). Well, she came back and had very obviously had a hair cut. I am furious because I wanted to trim her myself, as her coat grows so incredibly slowly and shaping it takes a lot of time. I know how, my mother who is also a groomer, taught me from a young age. I had planned on getting help from my husband to lift her onto the table and trim her that evening. Now I can’t, and she’s been trimmed in a style that I did not want. When I asked my FIL about why she got a hair cut, he didn’t even realize she had, which tells me all I need to know - the groomer took liberty and gave a haircut without being asked, and didn’t consult the pet owner (she knows me, I took her myself for awhile before this pregnancy) or my FIL who dropped her off. I will never come back to this place, and I am furious that someone would think it is in any way their right to decide what kind of hair cut a dog needs without asking the owner. Absolutely unacceptable. The picture is of her shaved to the skin in April.

Extremely caring, patient & genuinely loves the animals. Great job & reasonable price. I have two dogs who love going to their spa day with Terri.

We’ve brought our dog here three times after moving to the area. Our previous groomers (rightly so and very justified) would often complain about how difficult our dog was and would charge more. Teri not only hasn’t complained, she also manages to do a great job. We’re always amazed when she comes home that she was able to give our dog such a great haircut. She is reasonably priced and has been very flexible with getting an appt.

The owner/groomer is very nice and you can tell loves animals but I’ve been to her twice now and I don’t think there will be a third. The first visit, my dog’s hair was cut very unevenly, especially around the face. And during the second visit, she cut most of her nails on the veins (all except for a couple and she forgot to cut two nails all together). So most of her nails were bleeding when I picked her up. My pup was definitely shaken up by the whole experience. Just thought others should be aware.

I believe a groomer should know how to groom the breed presented to them. This groomer took my beautiful Aussie and shaved her bald!!! My girl was NOT matted, had a beautiful show coat and went to the groomer for a bath and to be brushed out. She came back shaved BALD!!!! I was unbelievably upset, as was my dog's breeder. Who does this???? DO NOT take your Australian Shepherd to this person, or any other dog that you do not want shaved as she doesn't know how to groom, only how to use a clipper!!!

When my pup was little he was too scared of clippers to be groomed, and another groomer in the area kept charging me repeatedly to not cut his hair as he was slowly consumed by fluff. Brought him to Terri and she has been happily shearing him since. He absolutely loves her, and drop off/pick up/communication with her is very easy. Big fans! :)

I brought both of my large dogs to Terri this morning, and their grooming is the best they have had. Terri was available, approachable, and not at all concerned as I entered her door with a 94 pound Husky on one leash and a 60 pound Shepherd mix on the other! Thank you Terri - Jaxon and Emma are happy and their coats are soft and gorgeous - we will be back!

Have been going here since Terry opened in 2004. Both our dogs loved going to her. Our golden had been mistreated at a salon in Clinton that closed due to killing a small dog in a dryer. This dog went willingly and happily to Terry. Our current dog is one we have had since 2010. It was one of Terry’s cross breeds of golden and St. Bernard. Our vet inNorwich was very impressed with the paperwork that came with her. Despite living in Groton since 2006 I still took both dogs to her. When our first passed we then got our current dog from her. She is wonderful and well worth the travel to get to Killingworth! 5 stars
