We had a wonderful 5 year anniversary weekend here at the height of Fall! It is so charming and quaint. The grounds are very pretty. The restaurant is fantastic. We had a superb, romantic dinner and breakfast in the atrium. Our room was spacious and very clean. We did a couples massage in our room that was stellar. A lovely, country New England Inn that will not disappoint!

My husband and I stayed here many years ago for our anniversary and so returned for our 34tb anniversary. We WANTED to love it again. Sadly it appears not much has been done in the last 30 years. The carriage house is tired, worn, and smells musty everywhere. The wallpaper and furniture is dated and uninviting. It appears they have removed the old paint and wallpaper in room 217 and painted it white and put in new flooring. Great start but it appears they stopped there. It needs a rug, a picture or two, new chairs, tables, etc. the room was big and bare but has a lot of potential if they would finish it. Hallways very old and dated. And the mold smell. The outside deck needs rehab and comfy furniture to enjoy. The whole building needs painting. We arrived back to our from on the first full day to find our room door left open and obviously not locked from the housekeeping staff. Nothing was taken however. The main house is very nicely done. The breakfast was fabulous! Most of the staff were very friendly and hard working. Our first breakfast service was fabulous. Our second we had to ask for many things including silverware, butter, water, etc. but all the food was great! I want to live this place. Guessing it needs an influx of cash. I hope they get it and fix it up. It would be sad for a place of such potential to close.

Back to the scenes of our wedding for our 10th anniversary.
Rooms: Classy rooms. Highly recommend!
Food and drinks: One of the best restaurants in the region. Always busy every time we swing in. The food is top quality!

While I only stayed for one night I was impressed with the Copper Beach Inn. While checking in and out Frank was very professional and personable, taking the time to chat me up. This goes a long way for me and I hope to see Frabk next time I stay at the Inn.
Walkability: Scenic views

We booked an overnight in room 217 which was in the carriage house. When we arrived we were shocked by how different it looked from the pictures online. The main house and carriage house had peeling paint. To the immediate left of the carriage house there was a mess as well as garbage on the side porch (see pictures). We were willing to let that go until we stepped inside. There was a horrible heavy odor from dampness/mold. They had dehumidifiers running on each floor but it wasn’t helping. When we entered the room the odor was still there. It was newly painted and had a new floor but the furniture wasn’t the same as in the picture and looked tired. The windows on the door going to the porch was very dirty (see pic) and the porch was unkempt with peeling paint and furniture in disarray. We went to the front desk to see if there was another room available as we could see another house that looked fairly new (believe the 300 rooms are in there) but they were all booked. The hostess said she could give us a refund so we left to go to another location. Over a week went by and I still hadn’t received my refund so I called the Inn. No apology was given she just said she is doing it now. Very disappointed…

My husband and I stayed for just one night. We stayed in Room 215 in the Carriage House. The photos online did not match reality. The room did not resemble the photos. I must admit the king-size bed was comfortable. The musty, moldy smell was overwhelming. Hence, the reason for the dehumidifier running all day in the hallway. The Inn is worn and in desperate need of updating. The outdoor seating was not appealing or inviting at all. We opted to eat at the Villager down the road so, I can’t comment on the restaurant. We also did not eat breakfast there. Again, we opted to grab coffee and muffins at the Essex Coffee Shop. Very disappointed, considering what we were charged. Best thing about the Inn is its proximity to Essex Village.

Serendipity brought us to the Copper Beech Inn. It wasn’t planned but it became a highlight of our three-week vacation. The hotel and its grounds were incredible, providing a serene environment for actual relaxation. We attempted to stay further nights but could not cancel our other previous hotel reservations. An unexpected memory we shall treasure.
The inn encompasses three separate buildings, The main building was built over 200 years ago. It provides the main dining areas, bar and guest rooms upstairs. The woodwork within this building is astounding. It reminds me of the type you would see in old Victorian homes. The interior looks pristine due to their wonderful upkeep and maintenance. There is an enclosed veranda that overlooks an elaborate garden area. This garden has a fountain surrounded by colorful beds of flowers. Chairs provide the ability to partake in its tranquil splendor.
The other two buildings are a renovated carriage house converted into hotel rooms and a newer building containing more rooms. We stayed in the newer building. It has a main entrance hall which can be used as a reception area. Our room was easily over 400 sq feet. It contained an ultra-modern walk-in shower and spacious jacuzzi tub. Our room faced out onto a large natural area. We could not believe the quietness of the surrounding environment. Total bliss.
We purchased the breakfast meal plan. We were provided a menu of about six different choices to choose from. Found it difficult to select due to the offerings. Their coffee and orange juice were great. The meals were also delightful. We were not able to partake of dinner since they do not serve dinner on Monday and Tuesday; the days we visited. But we conversed with other guests who had dinner and were pleased with both service and meal quality.
It is important to mention that this inn is family owned. Christa was the family member we interacted with during our stay. She has a delightful personality and while treating all patrons with respect, as we observed, she demonstrates her appreciation for the guests visiting. She provides services in the traditional ways. Christa’s temperament aligns with the inn’s values exactly; excellent service provides returning customers. Her jobs are many. She interacted with us during check in / check out and breakfasts. Jose, a dining room employee, provided excellent service with all aspects of our meals.
I have spent my professional life traveling both domestically and internationally. The quality of service provided to us was on par with what I would expect from the high-tier hotels. It was personal, professional, and appreciated. I highly recommend this “get away” for your next travel if you are in the area.

Overall experience was very good. The first impressions were not great when we were greeted with a strong mildew smell. The smell did fade on the second day. There were other troubling signs with a half empty water bottle and more fingerprints on the glassware than your average crime scene. Additionally, the outdoor chairs were dirty and not fit for seating. The free breakfast was a bright spot served by a charming young lady. The room was clean but worn. Though we didn't have dinner here, the dining room was very impressive. The location was great near pictureesgue Essex and not too far from the shore. Again, the stay was pleasant, but upgrades are overdue and don't compete with other modern venues.

What a great little find! The rooms were very elegant and spacious. The bar was fantastic, and the drinks were amazing. The restaurant is very quaint and the food was simply AMAZING! Our server, Frank was not only friendly and knowledgeable, but he was also very patient and fun with our large dinner group. He made the experience so enjoyable! I highly recommend Cooper Beach Inn to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation!

Safety: Very quiet and safe location.
Food and drinks: Amazing food at the restaurant. Top notch meals and service. Delicious and creative cocktails to suit anyone's palate.

We enjoyed our stay at Copper Beech Inn. From the moment we checked in until the day we left, we were provided with first class service. We also ate at the restaurant and had a very enjoyable meal. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch to our stay. We will definitely return.

The local public can not have dinner. Only housed guests can eat there. Perhaps this is just for the winter?

Sadly we were very disappointed in our stay at Copper Beech Inn. The rooms are in need of updating and the service was minimal at best. We’ve stayed there before and definitely saw a difference in the quality of the overall place. We will not be returning.

The overall experience was a disappointment for a New Year's Eve dinner. Two of the limited menu items were unavailable. The food was average and not anything special in taste or presentation. It would not be a place I would return to or recommend for a special night out.
