We love everything about this quaint welcoming tavern, especially when Carla makes the margaritas ;)The Ivoryton Tavern has charm, lots of history & the bathroom soap always smells wonderful!Highly recommended if you are in the area or attending a show across the street.

The food was good but the service was terrible. At the last bite off food the waitress said we have to leave because there was a couple that were waiting at the door. Waitress could have tried to be more pleasant. Our party wanted to stay longer but we were asked to make room for others…we were thinking about having after dinner drinks and coffee but we were asked to leave!

Thinking I was going to a restaurant with white tablecloths I laughed so hard when I walked in. However, we all had a great time! A bunch of bikers came in, I felt like I was in my 20's again and enjoyed the afternoon at the Tavern!!! It was fun!

We stopped in here after a day on the Essex steam train and riverboat, and this little Tavern was absolutely amazing. We ordered almost the entire appetizer menu and several entrees, and everything was fantastic! I especially recommend the zucchini fries and the grilled cheese, they were both out of this world! If you're looking for a local spot to hang in the Essex area, this place is the one for you!

My husband and I got the Fish and Chips. The fish was good but it was not worth 17 dollars for one little piece of fish and a little bit of fries. Extremely disappointed.

It seems like every time attempt to go here our experience is worse. 2017-2019 the staff was friendly and had great food. Since 2020- current the food quality has gone down hill and the employees are disengaged and even the manager/owner is not friendly and very rude to customers and employees. Very disappointed that this place has gone so far downhill. We have decided we will never be back atleast under current management.

I went in to get a drink. A Blue Hawaiian, very common drink. She didn’t even know how to make that. Even still I told her how to make it, I drank it, then left a 50% tip because I don’t drink much and knew I wasn’t going to have another. Now next day I’m told I’m not allowed there all because i know someone that works in the kitchen. Even though I sat there drank my drink and left I was a “distraction.” Extremely poor business decision as I planned on coming in with more people to have some food and drinks again today. I can see now why the business is failing so badly that they need to close down at random times due to staff shortage and not enough money being made. The owner is a terrible person, the staff is rude and unqualified, and the food is honestly terrible and not worth the money. EDIT: I’ve now had to call the police on the owner since she showed up to my apartment and asked my landlord to have my boyfriend come down so she can threaten him about having this review removed.

My girlfriend and I split two appetizers. We had the calamari but when it reached our table it was cold. We also had chicken wings which were good also but not hot.
