Dr. Stewart and her staff goes above and BEYOND for their patients. Dr. Stewart is extremely knowledgeable about veterinarian medicine and answers any questions I have in detail. Herself and her staff have such a love for animals of all kinds. Her technicians are so caring and her reception staff is always willing to help in any way they can. I will always use and recommend this practice!

I had been taking my cats to this hospital for years when Dr Matz & Dunn worked there. I never had a bad experience with Dr Stewart, but the vet assistants were awful to my cats. I actually heard my cat yelping when he was there for an exam. I decided to take the cats to a new veterinarian, and the new vet didn't have the paperwork/history for my cats yet, so they called Mt Carmel to get the records faxed over. The new vet put them on speaker phone and the girl from Mt Carmel begins to complain to the new vet about me! They are very unprofessional.

This place has inspired me in so many ways. The Dr. and techs are very welcoming and absolutely amazing at their job. If you ever have an extrnship, this is the place to do it ! I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done and continue to do for students like me and the community.

Avoid this Vet at all costs!!! The office supervisor needs customer service training. As a woman living with a disability speaking over the phone is extremely difficult and as I went to tell her that she continued to talk over me telling me she can't hear me she can't understand me when if she would have just shut her passive aggressive mouth up she would have understood and tried a little harder to understand but instead she berated me over the phone. My service dog and I would not even consider stepping foot inside of this vet/hospital due to her incompetence. I truly hope that the veterinarian in charge understands that they are losing business due to her lack of awareness and people skills but if the vet hired someone like that woman and continues to employee them I am scared to understand how that vet treats animals. Avoid avoid avoid at all costs if you love your furry pets!

Dr. Stewart's intuition about an animal's condition is truly remarkable, and her compassionate approach was a tremendous comfort when we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to our beloved Shey. Coping with the loss has been incredibly challenging, but Dr. Stewart's genuine care shone through every step of the way.

Worst experience of my life with a vet. Dr. Stewart and her staff lack even basic social skills. They speak in a demeaning manner to their customers, regularly berate them if they think you're not doing what they say when they say it, demand money up front before you've even been evaluated, and demand money for costly unnecessary services. The front desk staff are rude and completely lacking any veterinary knowledge (I was told "you can bring FIV in the house on your shoes"....lol. For comparison, that's like me telling a person they can get HIV from sharing a toilet seat with someone.) they bully you into paying for things you don't need, and accuse you of lying (!!!!) if you explain why you don't need it. I have hated every minute of my interactions with them but was too busy to find a new vet. The final straw was when Dr Stewart literally followed me out to my car to yet again berate me, tell me what a terrible person I am, and that "no one in the office likes you". Lololol. She also insulted me by saying she's "shocked" I myself am a doctor. At least I know not to be a psycho and follow patients out to the parking lot to insult them!!! Seriously would not believe how awful this place is if I hadn't experienced it myself. There are plenty of other caring vets out there who don't treat the pet parents like utter garbage. Oh, she trash talks customers to each other too. When I didn't spay my pet immediately instead of asking me why or what obstacle might be, she called another of her customers "negligent" and "uncaring" (which I'm sure they'd love to know their vet spoke of them to other customers this way), and no doubt she's spoken ill of me to other customers as well. She is passive aggressive constantly , demeaning, rude and tesches her staff to be the same way. God forbid you question ANYTHING said to you, you will be spoken to like an idiot. The icing on the cake is total lack of responsibility for literally anything (if you don't believe me read their negative reviews here and on Google reviews). After she followed me to my car like a crazy person, somehow she decided it was also my fault that her front staff "only make minimum wage" so I should be nicer to them (btw I've never so much as raised my voice to her staff-- I calmly told them I did not appreciate how they rudely spoke to me every time I was there ). Hey -- maybe YOU should pay your staff more than minimum wage if that's what's making them cranky. Literally no clue how that's my fault. This place is a hot mess.

Amazing!!!! From the first call to the tech who brought my cat in to be seen, just wonderful!!! This Doctor graciously works with another wonderful organization called PAWS (which helps Senior Citizens with pet care and cost)..this was my first time at Mount Carmel Veterinary Hospital… but definitely not my last!…they made me feel at ease and were very professional. All my questions and concerns were quickly answered. After my cat was seen the Doctor called and assured me alls well and what to look for. I am so happy I went there ?…

I wish I would have read some of the other poor reviews and listened to my own gut. The first time I came here when I left I felt very uncomfortable with the bedside manner of all the staff, including the veterinarian. I proceeded to keep giving them chances because I told myself that surely they care about the animal, and that’s what matters.I have never in my life had such a dismal experience working with a vets office. I am a physician, and if I spoke to my patients the way they speak to their customers I would have been fired a long time ago. Both the veterinarian, Dr. Stewart, and by extension, her staff, presumably from her method of training them, are incredibly condescending. If you don’t do every single thing they recommend or want you to do exactly when they want you to do it, they speak to you like you’re an idiot.I got my cat spayed maybe three months after they recommended it, for various personal reasons that I could not do it sooner, considering it costs $1000. I was told by Dr. Stewart “I had another negligent pet parent…“ And proceeded to tell me about someone else’s cat that had gotten cancer. Fair enough they’re concerned about that, but to blatantly call customers negligent because they didn’t listen to you immediately is just awful. If a patient tells me that they can’t or aren’t ready to do a recommend treatment, my first question to them is: why? I have a sympathetic and understanding conversation with them to understand what the obstacles are. I don’t berate them and speak to them condescendingly. Before I moved to Connecticut, I brought a large supply of monthly tick/flea prevention from my former vet in another state. Every time I went, I was spoken to like they didn’t believe me that I was actually using the medication because I told them I didn’t need to buy it from them. they were so pushy I bought it a few times just to stop their constant attacks despite having it at home. On my last visit Dr. Stewart felt it appropriate to sarcastically comment on “your never ending supply” of revolution medication, very clearly indicating that they did not believe me. As if I’m Lying to the vet. SeriouslyThey are pushy and don’t know how to speak to people. After getting this sarcastic condescending language yet again on my last visit, I was frustrated, and I mentioned to the front desk staff after she also spoke to me like I was an idiot, very calmly and politely telling her I did not appreciate the way the office spoke to me every time I was there.I walked out to my car and was about to drive away when I saw Dr. Stewart walk up to my vehicle and knock on my window. I rolled down the window, thinking maybe she was going to apologize for the way they were all speaking, but no. In line with all the responses they’ve given to their reviews here, They took zero accountability. In fact, the doctor took time out of her busy schedule to follow me to my car in the parking lot to tell me what a rude and unpleasant person I am. I had not once raised my voice or said anything unpleasant other than to express in a polite and calm manner that I was not happy with the way I was being spoken to every time I was at the office. Instead of asking why I felt that way she took it as an opportunity to tell me what a miserable person I am, and how it’s all my fault that “nobody in the office likes” me!! I’ve never in my life had a professional office do such a thing. Can you only imagine what would happen if I followed a patient out to their car, berated them and told them that they were “unpleasant” instead of professionally asking why they felt that way?Maybe when you’re getting so many one star reviews saying the exact same thing you should start to wonder if maybe it’s the way you and your staff speak to your customers. I have hated every single interaction I have had with this office, but I kept going for the sake of my pet because I didn’t have time to find a different office. At this point, following me out to my car just to tell me that everything is my fault is literally the last straw. I’m done.

As a previous member of this practice it doesn't shock me To see how bad these reviews are. Dr. Stuart reuses syringes for her "shelter cats" which is completely disgusting and unethical. She washes and reuses gloves to keep her staff from using too much product. She does not give any printed papers such as bills/ receipts/ rabies certificates to clients in order to conserve paper ( which for some older clients can be difficult because not everyone uses email or has a smartphone) . She not only will belittle her staff but she speaks to her clients in a disgusting manner. Her way of practice is completely inappropriate and puts good veterinary medicine and care to shame. I'm truly surprised she has not been shut down yet by the better business bureau or at least I hope she has it coming. She needs to re-evaluate if this is a passion for her and start treating people kinder because clearly her approach to human kindness isn't working.

Felt this vet tried scaring Me with a diagnosis not that serious and said I needed all these tests and x-rays done, and gave me an over kill of medication for my dogs 1st round of worm medicine. So glad I trusted my instinct and got a second opinion at spring glen. felt bullied by this vet office. Would not recommend.** Also red flag at all their responses on here straight up taking zero responsibility or criticism lol, and posting at LENGTH details about their patients- when my new vet tried contacting mt carmel for the tests they did, they gave them a hard time saying they needed my confirmation first and continued calling me multiple times a day for at least a week after this. Clearly they're not concerned w giving info out to the public not sure why they were so worried ab another vet in their town.

Easy to get in touch to make an appointment. Dr. Stewart and staff take excellent care of our rescue dog, who's had multiple health issues. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Very happy with everything and looking forward to continuing care here!

Horrible doctor! Dr Stewert will euthanize your pet even when you chose to live out his last days at home. She did it anyway after messing up his surgery and lecturing, practically yelling at my grieving daughter because we made a choice she didnt like. Twice has added fees that we didnt tell her to do that I do at home. I didnt want our babys nails clipped since he was in pain and they werent bad yet guess who did it during his last day alive?! The lady is set on doing what SHE wants not owner. She may be a doctor but she does not know pets, saying ours wasnt in that much pain yet and we should wait until the problem grew! Our baby wasnt his usual self and was just staying in a corner in pain in a blanket. She She is rude and mean. DO NOT GO TO HER! Go to the place in north haven. If you need a vet there is another in (middletown? begins with an m) DO NOTTTT GO to this one. READ the reviews. She killed my baby, has no compassion, and is a horrible person. If you love your pet, stay away from this place!

I have contemplated writing this review for weeks. I drafted a 6-page review that would entirely dispute and demolish with irrefutable evidence the response you left on my wife Adriana Garcia’s review (17MAY23). However, because I am still grieving Skywalker’s loss and am cherishing the loving memories he gave us, I will give you the benefit of the doubt for the lack of empathy and compassion shown during this process. I will accept an apology for the inaccurate and erroneous response. I am a credible source who was present during most of Skywalker’s visits and can vouch for my wife’s complaints without bias.Key points include: We never refused a $55 recheck exam. I have a receipt for the exam that took place on 01MAY23. We were NEVER RECOMMENDED X-rays. X-rays were only an OPTION if Skywalker’s symptoms increased. Kristilee Stewart suggested that X-rays were expensive ($200), and she could hear about 85% of what was going on in his lungs with a stethoscope. The antibiotics were NEVER RECOMMENDED, and there was NEVER any DIRECTION that Skywalker needed the antibiotics. I was repeatedly told that Stewart hadn’t been prescribed antibiotics in 3 years for kennel cough (a diagnosis made outside the office with just a stethoscope and a thermometer). He didn’t need to have them because he did not have an infection, just a virus compared to COVID-19.Contrary to your statement, Stewart mocked Adriana and said, “Just take the antibiotics to prevent a fight at home,” she repeated the joke on 08MAY23. There was NEVER ANY INTENT from Stewart that Skywalker needed the antibiotics unless he had pneumonia, which was determined on 01MAY23 that he did not. The statement that I “STOPPED” giving him antibiotics is inaccurate. I was told it would only make him vomit since he was not eating and NOT CURE him since he had a virus, not an infection. Therefore, the antibiotics would do nothing for him, and were just the butt of a joke. I am not a veterinarian, and it appeared that Skywalker had made MINIMAL strides toward recovery by walking and eating more. However, no instructions, signs, clues, commands, directions, etc., were given to be made aware of had his symptoms progressed, which hadn’t appeared that they did. His behavior and symptoms had stayed the same since 26APR and showed slight progression on MAY 3rd / 4th, which is why we felt comfortable leaving him in the care of his aunt, who is a dog owner. I was told the virus would RUN ITS COURSE and was never told that it could be fatal at his age/weight.Suppose you feel obligated to continue to argue with my family and hide behind your mishaps without holding your institution accountable. I will escalate this series of events, including statements, receipts, text messages, pleas to remove my wife’s entitled review, harassing phone calls etc., to the Connecticut State Department of Consumer Protection and the Better Business Bureau about your gross negligence and prolonging my family’s grieving process.
