We have a very strong headed German Shepard and the staff can handle him perfectly. They are very caring and most important, very knowledgeable about the animals they care for. We won't be taking our dog to any other clinic.

Everybody at this establishment is kind and caring of the animals and their humans. They are quick and efficient with exams. They listen to concerns and thoroughly answer questions. They are patient, compassionate, and truly love what they do. I have been taking my pets here since 2010 and will continue to do so.

Dr. Battiston at Star Meadow Animal Clinic is absolutely amazing. I have been bringing my 8 year old Dwarf rabbit here for just about 1 year. Dr. Battiston is extremely intelligent and identified a chronic eye problem (as well as other health issues) that my rabbit has been dealing with for years. She is incredibly knowledgeable about rabbits, and it helps how passionate she is about caring for them! It is not easy to find a vet who specializes in rabbit care, and I am so glad to have discovered her. I trust that he is in great hands! Her assistants are very kind and gentle with him as well.

This practice is superb -- from the front staff to the veterinary staff. We can't say enough about them all. They are responsive, professional, compassionate and go the distance to help your special boy or girl. The personalized care is especially remarkable. Each person is treated with the care you would expect for your precious loved pet. And we must give special accolades to Dr. Tanya Battiston who is, by far, the brightest and most clinically astute veterinarian it has ever been my pleasure to meet. And as if that wasn't enough... she really cares! We thank our lucky "stars" that we found "star" meadow and Dr. Battiston!

I was blown away with all the helpful information I was given on my first visit. I had taken my dog to another vet, just because it was closer to me. I went to star meadow after I felt like he did have an ear infection, even though I was told on 3 separate occasions he didn't. I was also told he had dry skin that I was normal for my dog. At star meadow my dog was diagnosed with a double ear infection and a skin disorder that is completely curable with just a few baths. The diet information I received was also very helpful & informative. I could go on and on. My point is ... HIGHLY recommend.

I have been taking my dogs here for years. The staff have always been amazing. Dr. Malament is wonderful and invariably thorough with their care. Years ago, I brought in a new dog for a check up and happened to have my other dog maya along for the ride. Even though we weren't there for Maya, Dr. Malament noticed an odd little cough that we hadn't and uncovered lung cancer which bought us an extra six months. I'll be forever grateful. Dr. Malament has cared for all my critters since, and I know that they're receiving the best care available.

I took my dog there for 10 years. Up until this past year, it s always just for yearly check ups. This past year my dog exhibited different symptoms. They did every expensive blood test, X-ray, cat scan, medicine, laser therapy, shot therapies and finally a surgery. Two weeks ago she started throwing up. Rushed her to Center of Veterinary medicine in New haven. Which of course they started doing all kinds of tests. Come to find out my dog died of complications from untreated Lyme's Disease. The doctor reviewed her file and in the thousands of dollars I spent, the 100 visits (which were 2-3 weekly), all of the extensive blood work, they never tested for the most common thing, Lyme's. In dogs it is fully treatable with medicine. I am so upset this was the reason she died. It has come to my attention in the past 2 weeks, people have told me, "They are good for yearly check ups, not for diagnosing" It has also been told to me, that the owner told someone she was friends with, but who has this shared this statement, "We can charge whatever we want, people in Farmington will pay." I find that so deplorable. People be weary, be very, very weary!!

I have been with Star Meadow for a decade. I always believed they were doing what was right by my dog. Everyone was lovely. However, in the last year I spent thousands on treatments, medicines, shits, surgeries, X-rays, cat scans, bloodwork, laser treatments...and more. All of which were inconclusive. However, my dog just died, and this is what I am having extreme trouble understanding. She died of complications due to untreated Lyme's Disease. With all the tests and blo

This is going to be a long one so get comfy.... I decided to take my dog to Star Meadow after taking him to the VCA for several years. The only reason I wanted to switch vets was because I really think my dog has some anxiety and needs to be medicated to a degree. The VCA vet didn't believe in medicating for that reason, so I moved on to Star Meadow. BIGGEST MISTAKE. For starters my dog, Jack is very anxious, excited, hyper at the vet. He does growl a bit once the examination begins and since he began showing mild aggression I asked he be muzzled at the vet. The VCA muzzled him, would examine him in the room and the visit would go smoothly. At Star Meadow this was not the case... The first time we were there Dr. Malament offered to take him to to another room in hopes it would calm him down. I agreed and thought it was a good idea. She returned shortly to tell me he did well. Let me pause here to say I truly enjoyed Dr. Malament and most of the front staff, but as time progressed my experience specifically with the practice manager?/ want-to-Be behaviorist Crystal made my decision to leave. Anyway, after learning Jack had Lyme disease, we had to return. It was then that we were ambushed by Crystal who came in to talk to us about training and behavior at length. Crystal is not a trainer nor is she a licensed behaviorist. We have a trainer we love, but full disclosure Jack is a tough, stubborn dog and it's a slow moving process. Crystal basically lectured us on how awful of a dog he was. Not true. I would invite anyone who reads this review to come to my house and tell me he's awful. She was rude, condescending and her opinion was not requested. He also had an accident where he cut his thigh on a piece of metal in the yard. We had to return. At this point he was on two medications of which I personally had to guess with the dosages because what was initially prescribed left a hyper, happy dog shaking in the bathroom In the dark. His cut thigh required stitches which he was fully sedated for. After the stitches were removed we had to speak as a follow up. This is where Crystal enters yet again. In short, Crystal said Jack would have to be FULLY SEDATED for regular visits if we wanted to continue to be a patient there. For the safety of the staff and Jack she said this was the necessary. No incident had ever happened with Jack and their staff and I was forthcoming when they took us on about him being muzzled during exams. She was again rude, harsh and quite honestly not someone I hope to ever have to deal with again. Let me also note he was never sedated AT ALL let alone fully when we were at the VCA. I hung up, in tears, and after calming down called back to request a conversation with Dr. Malament as we had just dropped $1,000 on stitches and I felt I was atleast due a phone call with the vet, not the want-to-be behaviorist. Dr. Malament sang a completely different tune. She said they would be willing to try other routes besides full sedation such as conducting his visits outdoors. I thanked her and hung up. We never went back. The bottom line is this...I think Star Meadow is an uppity practice that truly can pick and choose which dogs they want to see. If you have a large dog that isn't the perfect angel at the vet. Don't bring them to Star Meadow. If you do, avoid Crystal at all costs.
