I used to love this facility until they traumatized my 3 year old into hating the pool. I witness one the swimming instructors throwing my 3 year old in the pool letting her go down grabbing her back up with one arm and repeating the process several times until our eyes locked. I was in such shock. When she noticed me looking at her she immediately turned it into a swimming exercise. She did it so seamlessly that I was left wondering if I was just letting my anxiety see something different. I asked my daughter why she was crying she seemed to think she was in trouble, she kept saying she wanted to apologize to her swimming teacher. Fast forward the next weekend when she should have had her next lesson. She refuses to go back. She said, her swim teacher is not nice and she doesn’t want to go back. I feel horrible, bc there has been times that my 3 year old didn’t want to stay with her swimming instructor but her instructor would just grab her and start playing with her in the water and she would forget not wanted to stay. I wonder how long this has been going on. She is even hesitant to go in the water with me now. What saddens me the most is that she seemed so gentle with the other kids. Like my daughter was just targeted.

I love this Y! I learned to swim there about three years ago I’m 72. I swim almost every day. I love it. The instructors and staff are so wonderful and supportive. Th gym is great too. New!

Very frustrating experience here with my kids' swimming lessons. They had to miss two classes, and were not allowed to make them up. And then, at the end of their session, the instructor didn't tell us it was the last class (in fact it wasn't the regular instructor but a sub, which happens all the time), so we showed up the following week to find out their session was over. They wouldn't let my two small (3 and 4) children swim, so after all that we just had to go home. There's no email reminders, no one says anything, no one even asks if you want to sign up for the subsequent session. Not a great experience. I wish there were more options in Fairfield for swimming lessons.

Do not waste your hard earned cash. I signed up for a class that I had to pay extra for and discovered that I need to miss 3 classes. They would not refund me, nor allow me to make up the classes in the next session. Nada. The women’s locker room looks like it hasn’t been updated since 1950. The website is nothing but a big advertisement. The only good thing are the amount of lap times if you are a swimmer. Fairfield deserves better.UPDATE, October 10, 2023. The director reached out to me to solve the issue. I thank the Y for a quick and courteous response.

Our little one attends pre-school at the Fairfield Y and loves his teachers, Ms Barbie and Ms Melissa. We get daily photos of what he and his classmates are doing during their day at school which is great... the toddlers get to enjoy Zumba classes amongst many other fun and creative activities and they also get plenty of outdoor time in the big fenced in grassy playground when the weather allows. The staff are all super friendly, and the facilities are neat, organized and efficiently run. I rejoined the Y so I could use the pool and gym facilities while my little one is in class... Admittedly, the pool and locker rooms aren't as updated as other nearby Ys but they are, in fact, perfectly adequate especially considering the reasonable price one pays to access them. The gym is more updated, clean, bright and has modern exercise equipment and l've never seen it busier than 5-10 people.

This YMCA is so dirty. The locker rooms have mold everywhere, but especially in each of their showers. It never smells or looks clean. We were gifted swim lessons for our toddler. The lessons were fun for little ones getting used to the water with song and toys. The instructor was nice. Would we sign up again? Probably not.The size of the pool is about three lap lanes, that's all. No area for parents to watch other then have everyone crowed the door. There is no kids play area like the one in Westport. Would not recommend this ymca. Look elsewhere.

My daughter have been going to this pool for so few weeks . lifeguard Sam was really rude and pointing at a finger at me and my daughter to get out of the pool which is super Duper rude and screaming at us. but generally the pool is nice, the swimming pool stuff are rude and disrespectful. The gym is really nice but it’s too small. employees treated us like no one

Wendy at the front desk staff has been consistently very helpful. The building and pool area are old but they are very well maintained. I have found the pool locker rooms to be very clean on a consistent basis as well. The staff is friendly . The gym has weights and machines and there are many classes offered both in person and online.

DIRTY!!!! I have never been to a gym as unsanitary as this place! Avoid touching anything here, ring worms are unavoidable here!

An older building but well maintained. Very helpful front desk staff and a variety of well taught classes. Pool. Gym with the machines and free weights you'd expect to find.
