Ellen is the sweetest, most compassionate lady! Her shop is clean, adorably decorated, & best of all curve friendly. She searched for the style of dress high and low and went out of her way to send me various options. When I finalized my decision she gave me a homemade cookie & a little bottle of Prosecco as a gift. You really cannot get a better experience than at Going to The Chapel!

Found it ok with maps, but it was unexpectedly by appointment only. Got no problem with that, but you should say so, I wouldn't have wasted time and gas going there. Shouldn't just put a sign on the door.

What a Beautiful Shop in Enfield! Ellen, thank you for listening to my thoughts and for your Amazing Talent, in finding me a gorgeous gown as a wedding guest in record time. Each dress was more beautiful than the next and prices are incredible. The earrings and necklace where the perfect touch. I can’t wait to show you pictures of our special event. Thank You!!!

I booked my bridal appointment at Going to the Chapel having no clue what I wanted in a dress. Upon arriving, my group and I were immediately greeted by Ellen and her team. She gave me a bag of pins and guided me to the dress sizes I would be looking at and told me to pin the ones I liked. After that, Ellen really tailored my appointment based on which dresses I liked and weeded out ones she knew I wouldn’t like. The entire appointment took about 50 minutes and I never felt rushed or not taken care of.
What I loved most about this experience was that Ellen was completely up front with me when I first called for my appointment. I called in January for a May appointment and explained I was in the process of losing weight. Ellen asked for my current size at the time and explained that wedding dresses would be 1-2 sizes bigger than the size I would end up being in May. I had no idea this was a thing and I was really happy she mentioned that to me so I knew what to expect. She also explained the rundown on how the entire appointment would go and even remembered the budget I originally told her.
All of the dresses I tried on were beautiful and wonderfully priced! I would highly recommend this shop for any bride!

100/10 recommend Going to the Chapel Dress Shop! Between being able to look through dresses my self, having friendly staff readily available to answer any questions, and everyone making me feel so beautiful in each dress I tried on, I couldn’t have asked for a more positive experience!!
The owner Ellen personally lead my appointment and I could tell from the very first second she genuinely cared about my opinion and helping me find the dress of my dreams without any pressure of upselling or going over my budget. The dress I ended up picking is absolutely gorgeous and was $500 below my budget!! We even found the perfect veil, and when Ellen put it in my hair I had the “bride moment” of tearing up picturing myself going down the aisle.

A few weeks ago, I made an appointment to try on dresses at Going to the Chapel. I've already tried on dresses at other places, but did not make any purchases due to the prices. I'm extremely nervous when trying on dresses due to feeling self conscious--I'm very petite and do not have much to work with on the upper half of my body.
While trying on dresses that I was able to select myself, Ellen was very helpful when it came to helping me feel beautiful in each gown. She is also very knowledgeable about fashion, helping to ultimately choose the dress that best serves what you're looking for.
They carry sizes 0-30 something, the biggest size collection I've seen at an off-the-rack store. I definitely recommend.
Doesn't hurt to say that by wedding dress was 300 dollars! The highest priced one I was considering was 1000, still on the cheaper side for a wedding dress. I would give this place a millions stars if I could

My experience at Going to the Chapel was incredible. I attended my appointment on my own as my fiance and I are eloping and wanted to keep it a secret to surprise friends and family. I was so nervous walking in because I am a larger dress size and somewhat self-conscious of it. However, everyone made me feel so beautiful and so at home. The dresses were gorgeous and so reasonably priced - I'm glad I made an appointment. Although I ended up going with a different dress for my big day, I would absolutely recommend the store to all of my friends and family.

Going to the Chapel, Enfield CT.
It is wedding crunch time and I desperately needed help with my dress today. Our son is getting married in 2 wks and the material I used to sew the dress for the wedding was flawed so the dress was unuseable. I had a backup black dress and a hat but wasnt sure if it would achieve the simple yet elegant look I wanted. I needed a trained eye to help me decide. Ellen, the owner of Going to the Chapel, came to my rescue! Even though I wasn't planning to buy anything, she was happy to do a consultation with me. I tried on the outfit with the hat. With an experienced eye for hats, outfit coordination and colors she was able to confirm the outfit is beautiful. Her staff agreed. And she even helped me choose a necklace and earings to match! She resolved all my problems and calmed my nerves. I observed her and other staff assisting a bride-to-be and they were patient, kind and provided excellent guidance. I highly recommend Going to the Chapel for wedding and prom dresses. Thank you Ellen!

This is the most welcoming and friendly dress shop. The staff is accommodating, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would recommend Going to the Chapel to any wedding party or prom goer. The prices range, there’s a dress for any budget!

What an amazing selection of gorgeous gowns! I was blown away. Ellen has an amazing eye and truly goes above and beyond to make dreams come true. She thinks of everything. I wasn't even there for myself, and I felt so included in the process. I'll never forget it. Book an appointment, when you're ready to find the gown you need and want for all your special occasions.

I had an appointment yesterday and had a bit of a rough time for the first half. I do understand these are designer gowns and we don’t want them getting dirty and what have you but my mom came with me and was told a few times to “sit down” when I had come out and she was walking around me to see how the dress looked. These dresses were very long so moving was kinda hard it would’ve been nice if my mom was able to look at the dress on me without repositioning.Ellen says she hates bad mouthing David’s bridal but looking at her social media she has bashed them quite often without hesitation. At first I thought she was truly looking out for me but I now see a different motive after my appointment and really looking at social media.Ellen the owner was definitely trying to sell me a dress vs looking at what I liked which I understand to an extent but the dress I had on needed so much work to make it what I wanted I was basically making a whole new dress.****The lady that was helping Ellen though was an absolute delight I can’t quite recall her name as I was completely overwhelmed but she had salt and peppered hair she was absolutely amazing trying to help and really listen to me **she is the only reason this place got 2 stars **I was reading other reviews and saw she mentioned everyone who came in yesterday bought a dress and I assure you I did not buy a dress from there I went somewhere else after and bought a different dress that day.

My mom and I had a fantastic experience here with both Ellen and the other sales associate. We both walked out with dresses ( mother of the groom and bridesmaid) Ellen even found the perfect earrings to match my dress! prices are incredible! Very rude and they dont let you take pictures, mind you, you have to wear booties to “protect their floors”, they seriously need to stop worrying about selling and worry about making brides happyEdit: who said I was the bride?
