Careless staff. They say they use an app to communicate with parents but it is never updated at all. I asked about my child at end of day and couldn’t get a direct answer except, “good.”

Called to speak to someone about enrolling my daughter and was laughed at when I told them I only needed afternoon care and not full day service. It's one thing to not offer a much needed service in the child care community but to be laughed at over the phone was just insulting.

I ended up moving my child to another preschool because I did not feel comfortable with the facility for several reasons.- they use an app as a form of communication with parents however they rarely use it. If my son had an accident for example, it was like pulling teeth to find out any details for when or why he had his accident.- I did not approve of leaving a 3 year old in the bathroom completely unsupervised. Yes he is potty trained but he is 3 with a wild imagination!!! He's also slipt and fell while on the step up ladder getting a bruise down his leg. The teacher did not even know about this until I told her. I've also seen many kids run out of there without washing their hands which is just gross.- there were constant spills on the floor that just isn't safe when you have running kids of any age around- they didn't pay close enough attention to cleanliness. Example: Son was picked up once covered in his own feces. They were all over his hands and pants and shirt like he was trying to wipe if off after he got it all over his hands. He was right in front of them in the playground and I have no idea for how long he was like this. They said they didn't notice. But if you looked at him just once it was clear as day that SOMETHING was all over him that definitely shoudnt be. Another example was how they cleaned the room at the end of the day. The teacher mopped the floor before she left but parents and kids walked all of the wet floor turning the floor brown and more dirty than it probably was before. Letting kids walk on wet floors is also a safety hazard.- the fridge where they stored the food for lunch was the most dirty school fridge I have honestly ever seen. There was leaking juices and crusted food in places. I must say that they replaced the fridge on the last day we where there tho.-the last day of school when I picked up my son, it looked like he got hit in the face. When I asked what happened, once again, nobody knew!!! It was a rather large bruise on his cheek and painful to the touch. When I asked what happened he said he fell in different locations so I couldn't get a straight answer from him. How does a teacher not notice when a huge bruise pops up on a kids face out of nowhere??-i understand that kids get bumps, cuts scratches all the time but would it hurt for the teacher to be aware of these things and be able to give the parent a better response rather than 'oh I don't know'-i understand that potty accidents happen but I asked for them to communicate to me what happened so we can work together on teaching my son what he did was wrong-i also wasn't a fan of using the kindle, laptop or cellphone to entertain the kids in the mornings. They were like zombies in front of the screen when they should be playing at school.-the teachers seemed like nice enough people but I just don't think they really wanted to be there. They were like glorified babysitters instead of career teachers.

My neice attends Carelot in East Lyme and she is in the Toddler Turtles Ducks room with Ms Hailey. She loves going to school and seeing her friends and has a great bond with all the teachers here. She has learned so much from the time she was in infants till now.

I’ve been a employee here for almost 4 years now. I would recommend it if you like working with kids. The staff is amazing. The pay is the only downside to working here

We have been a Carelot family member since 2012 when we started bringing our now 7-year-old when she was 5 months old. We have now had all three of our kids there since they were infants! Our initial first impression of the center was wonderful! The infant teachers worked beautifully with all three of our kids who were breastfed, with patience and kindness. In no time, they were drinking from a bottle and happy as can be. My husband and I felt that our children were truly taken care of and loved by their caregivers. With every move to the next classroom we were welcomed with open arms and smiling faces! Our initial reason for choosing this center was because they were curriculum based and NAEYC credited. It turned into so much more the more time we were there. The staff has all been wonderful to us and our kids! Each morning they are greeted with a smiling face and an excited HI! We feel very comfortable leaving our kids in the hands of the staff each day.If you are looking for a smaller childcare setting with loving people that can tailor to each child’s needs, this is the place for you! I have recommended this center to several other families that are also still there and happy with the care.

My son has been at Carelot for a year and a half (since he was 6 months old.)During that time, I have been very pleased with the level of care he has received. The nurturing, dedicated, and hardworking staff, have positively impacted my sons development.Staff (and admin) are very communicative and cooperative.Structure, creativity, and individuality, are some of the concepts which have been affective for my little dudes success, both now, and as building blocks for his future.Whenever I have had any parenting/child development questions, the staff has been extremely helpful and understanding. Our experience at Carelot leaves no doubt in my mind that my sons development and safety are paramount. There’s an old proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.”I’m extremely grateful for Carelot being a part of our modern “village.” A valuable asset/ally, whom together, have made my sons life better. ?

My daughter has attended Carelot for over three years now and my son for one. The care has been exceptional. I like that it is a smaller daycare, with a relaxed home vibe. I know all the care providers, and some even on a social level. The providers here love children and treat the kids as part of their own family. My daughter tends to be very sensitive to change and the staff has been accommodating with her as she transitions to each new room. They go out of their way to make sure she is comfortable and in an environment that she is able to thrive in. Her academics are strong, but she is working on some of her social skills and situational coping skills. Carelot provides an environment that is conducive to all types of learning, including academic, but also socially and emotionally, which in my opinion are also very valuable. This program is curriculum based and NYACE accredited, which was my initial reason for choosing this daycare. My daughter just turned three, and already is writing/ spelling her name, recognizes all letters and can write most of them. She has a passion for reading and art and enjoys learning because it feels like play. She has a very close bond with her teachers. My son, just 1 is already able to communicate via baby sign. He gets frustrated with his lack of words to communicate and Miss Haley has successfully helped him gain more communication through sign. He is also verbally picking up the words that go with the cues. It is amazing, and a blessing at home helping with less meltdowns.I would highly recommend this staff if you are looking for a relaxed, yet productive environment. Each child's needs are different, and I feel like a smaller daycare has the ability to better tailor to each child's needs as opposed to put them into a rigid routine. The staff is a group of amazing and caring people, which I consider to be friends. If I ever had a concern I feel comfortable in addressing it with the staff and know that it would be resolved immediately.

We have had all three of our children spend their infant, toddler and preschool years at Carelot. We have always felt that they were in the best care. The teachers and administrators have always given us feedback and shown genuine care for our children. The staff have gotten to know us and our children personally and as a family that has made all the difference. I highly recommend Carelot for all aspects of your child's care.
