**Review: A Nightmare at Sound Auto Wholesalers – A Cautionary Tale**
My experience with this dealership has been nothing short of a nightmare, marked by abysmal customer service and a blatant disregard for their promises and customer satisfaction.
I bought a vehicle from Sound Auto Wholesalers with the assurance of a lifetime engine warranty. After 3 months I began experiencing engine issues. The dealership advised me to take the vehicle to an Audi dealership for diagnosis. Audi found problems with the engine camshaft manifolds, but the warranty company denied coverage for the repairs. As a result, I paid $1,300 out of pocket. It was only after my attorney intervened that I was eventually reimbursed for this expense.
The problems didn't end there. The car continued to experience issues related to the camshafts, shaking, and stalling at idle. Over the course of a year, I took the car to Audi five times for the same issues. Audi identified the problem as being related to the camshafts, timing chain, and metal shavings in the engine oil. They were ready to work with the warranty company to either repair or replace the engine.
However, the warranty company denied the claim again, insisting that the car needed to be returned to Sound Auto for repairs as per the contract. Reaching out to Dan Mariam, the owner of Sound Auto, was equally frustrating. I was told I needed to tow the car back to their dealership despite Audi having already started disassembling the engine. The car was towed back on May 18, and my troubles only compounded from there.
I made numerous attempts to get status updates, but my calls were not returned, with Dan answering only occasionally. When I did manage to speak with him, he was unhelpful and dismissive. After 3 weeks the vehicle still was not repaired, I asked for a loaner vehicle as a curtesy due to the extended waiting period and given that the warranty did not cover one. Dan's response was shockingly unprofessional; he insinuated that my decision to involve a lawyer in the first incident had influenced their level of service. Despite his attitude, he reluctantly agreed to provide a loaner if the car was not ready within a couple of weeks.
After 4 weeks, the car was still not repaired. At this point I was finally given a loaner with a broken A/C during a heatwave, when that was addressed, the replacement loaner had no gas. I was informed that the dealership was not obligated to provide gas for the loaner, which added to my frustration.
On July 7, I was notified that my car was ready for pickup. However, upon retrieving it, I noticed the oil level was not correct. After having it topped off by their mechanics, the car still wouldn't start. I was sent home while the mechanics supposedly troubleshot the issue. 20 minutes later I was called back to pick up the vehicle, and told the starter was stuck. A day later, the car failed to start again. I was told it needed a new starter as the starter to engine connection may have been impacted as a result of the engine replacement. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership.
Monday July 8th I received a call stating the vehicle would not be repaired until Wednesday since the starter repair was an 8 hour job and there were other cars that needed to be repaired. They managed to complete the “8 hour job” within a few hours after I insisted on immediate attention. The cherry on top of this horrendous experience was Dan Mariam’s final comment as my son was walking away after he picked up the car: "You're welcome, you got a loaner and a free starter" It was as if he expected us to thank him for the shoddy service and the ongoing ordeal we had endured.
In conclusion, my experience with Sound Auto Wholesalers has been plagued by inadequate service, unprofessional behavior from the owner, and a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. If I had to do it again, I

George, my salesperson, and especially Eric the sales manager have really come through for me. I bought a 2018 Tesla Model 3 that threw a front passenger restraint system fault alert after I had the car for about 2000 miles and that took Tesla a couple of days to fix. It also needed tire rebalancing. All was covered by the dealer warranty without hesitation. I’m impressed by the squarel deal I received and the no hassle follow up provided. Tree totalled my car during freak storms, and I contact Soundauto. Mauro reached out to me and had cars lined up for me to look at the minute I was ready to make my purchase. Our salesperson Mauro and and Kelsey the sales manager were outstanding. We came in on Saturday, and were in and out fast with a great deal on a car we love. They even held the car for us on Monday so we could figure out insurance. They had the car ready for us with plates and everything. Next time we need a car, we’ll be back here!
