I’m not the type to make negative reviews but this situation needs to be looked into.
Ive been a customer for over 13 years (since 2011) here at the planet fitness East haven store. I’ve never had an issue until yesterday (08/05/2024). I walk in and scan my card as usual to workout. Jemelis, the young lady working the front desk, told me there’s a problem with my account, it has been cancelled since 07/16/2024. I did not cancel my account at all. When I asked if Jemelis can check why my account would be cancelled and who authorized the cancel I was given immediate attitude and was told that they cannot check or do anything to help the situation. After 5 minutes of going back and forth asking for a manager finally Jemelis picked up the phone and called Monica Prewitt. Jemelis walked away and had a brief conversation with Monica before putting her on speakerphone the first words I hear out of Monica were “…just call the police on him…” I was astonished that a manager would result to calling police on a loyal customer without even speaking to them or asking them what the problem is that they are having at Planet Fitness.
After leaving the gym I immediately called the online number and reached the billing department. I described to them the incident I just had and they checked my account. They informed me there is nothing wrong with my account, it is active. The billing departing had a conversation with Jeremelis over the phone and connected me in after. I was told by Jemelis to come back to the gym, they figured out the issue, I just need a new scan card and I am free to workout.
This whole situation could have been easily resolved if the staff were properly trained. Monica Prewitt and Jemelis are extremely rude, unprofessional and should not be in the positions they are holding if this is how they treat customers. If I hadn’t been a member for so long I would have taken my business elsewhere.

There is a girl named Kerely who discriminates against people who speak Spanish. The worst thing is that she is Latina and discriminates against her own people. She does not help at all. She has bad service. She is not trained in customer service. They should select the staff well before hiring anyone. person to work in your establishment

I really like planet fitness because it is cheap and a very good gym. It is always clean. Exercise machines always work. I am very happy with this gym.

It’s just okay. The quality of the gym has declined. A lot of the machines are starting not to work. And idk what’s going on with letting people work out for free when members still have to pay a full membership fee. We should have our payment discounted. There are some more issues but I’ll be sending an email to the regional office for that.

Staff are respectful, try their hardest to remember everybodys name, always greeted and dismissed. Anytime I have a question or a concern they're quick to address it. Monica your manager started before I had closed my account the first time and was very considerate of my situation in explaining to me the best time to sign up for the second time. No favoritism all the staff are amazing buuuuuuut I LOVE MONICA ? That's my sister from another Mr.Never had an issue with her.
