The process of selling my car with Carmax was incredibly smooth! I was able to get a quick estimate, and went back multiple times over and the number went up each time, which was heartening. I was able to get an immediate appointment and the in-person process was very quick. The building is clean and well-staffed which moves everything along. I worked with Andrew, who was gracious customer support, and he turned the whole process around in under an hour: check-in, assessment and evaluation, paperwork, and a check in hand. He was clear, concise, and helpful. I highly recommend Carmax of East Haven to sell a car quickly and get the best bang for your buck!

My overall experience was really good. Since their inventory is online, I was able to search the site for several days until I found the perfect car for me. It wasn't at their location, which was fine. I paid a small fee ($99) to have it shipped to the closest location. Waited a few days, but they kept me informed. And that gave me time to get some of the paperwork done beforehand - online.
Once my car arrived, went to their location to test it out before committing to buyimg it. Car ran and looked just as expected. I was able to take it or for a good 10 minutes on regular roads and the highway. No surprises besides enjoying features I didn't think I even cared about, like the 360 degree camera.
Purchasing went smoothly. A little more paperwork and signing but was done in less than an hour after the test drive.
My only complaint was my location has no bike rack. I didn't have a car so I needed to bike there. That's fine. But I didn't have a secure place to leave my bike. Is someone is going to be spending $30k+ on a car, it would be nice to have some safe place to leave a small bike for a few hours. It was all fine. I locked it to a sign outside but had to keep looking over for it since I was nervous about leaving it out unattended.
Simple things can make a big difference in the experience.
But otherwise, wonderful experience as far as car buying goes.

Fantastic across the board. It was my first experience ever dealing with Carmax and everyone I dealt with actually looked happy to be working there and were totally courteous and professional. I will recommend now to anyone interested in buying or selling a vehicle.

I had a wonderful experience with Dylan at CarMax East Haven. Not only did CarMax give me the highest offer of any online or in-person dealer, but they completely honored the deal and didn’t try to negotiate at all in person, which I was nervous a dealer would try to do. The paperwork was easy, process was straightforward, and I left that night with a cheque for the promised amount. 10/10!

I bought a car here 7/5/24 and they never registered my car- I got pulled over at 1am for the license plate not bringing back anything in the CT police database resulting in me getting a ticket and not being able to drive it. go literally anywhere else to buy a car. Trying to get in touch with anyone is a nightmare
EDIT: I was given paper temp plates
EDIT: seriously go ANYWHERE else for a car. They initially couldn’t find the title after finalizing paperwork with me and over charged me when I purchased the car, it has been 6 weeks and they mailed me a refund check made out to somebody else and are telling me it is going to take another two weeks to get it in the mail. I would only recommend this CarMax to my enemies

Thank you Cramax for making my dream car possible. it came from Ohio and arrived. The process was easy and efficient. the price of the car was really good. It took me two years to find one with these options and they made it work for me. I had tried to put a deposit on a car in new york but they ghosted me and then lost the buyer. Luckily I found a place where the price is the price.

I will say !! However upon purchasing a car from here , I have had a ton of issues with the vehicle that I wish was just resolved because I loved the vehicle it was perfect for me and my family unfortunately it has to many issues mechanically and physically that I'm not willing to accept and they will not do anything for me . It's a waste of time trying to explain anything to anyone! It's as If not being heard is there goal !! They do not care !!
They also do not care about loosing a sale clearly ! This was the biggest waste of time the past almost 2 weeks of my life and I'm going to now be stuck with no car !! Mind you I'm a mother of 2 ! What really gotten me to was that I asked them to wash the vehicle 3times and they couldn't even accomplish that ! I was promised certain things and phone calls back that never happened !!
I've never felt so played in my life !!
I have family who purchased multiple cars from here and didn't have an issue so I'm not sure what the problem is ...
Save yourself the headache and hassle and go somewhere else
I understand these are used cars but my car should be bucking and idling funny and shaking !!!

I bought a car for $20,000 (w/ $2000 of it being car max care money ) . I paid cash outright for an emergency at carmax east haven. I ended up not needing it for the emergency after everything going back to normal - a month later .. I had the title so I decided to sale the car back. I tried CarMax because I thought it was a good company, since I didn’t have much of a hard time when it was me giving them all that cash … They ended up appraising my car for $14,000 (w/ $2000 being car max care money so technically $12000) after ONE MONTH & only using 800 mile extra than when I bought it at the time .. THAT IS HORRIBLE . the car was even in the same condition as I bought it.. just needed to be vacuumed a little .. but a whole $6000 GONE for using a car for 1 month and only using 800 miles .. I will not ever go back because that hurt my heart bad . I have a daughter that has a rare blood cancer and the car was for her . (I even explained all of this to basically half the staff the day I bought the car.) And that’s why it hurts even more . When we found her a doctor I wanted to bring the car back , so I can put all the money away for her incase another emergency. I understand charging for mileage but $6000 is RIDICULOUS. I feel robbed … if it was $1000 or $2000 off I would have understood but to get a car back clean with no issues and take all that money from my daughter is just crazy . Carmax broke my heart and I won’t ever forget that .
