I sent this e-mail to Acer Gardens on Wednesday to the owners, they did not bother to respond :
"On Monday 6/24 I made the attempt to return a threadleaf Japanese Maple that I had purchased (at a cost of $110) from you last year. As you can see from the attached photos, most of the plant is dead. I was informed by the young lady that presented herself as being “in charge” that the return would not be honored due to her assessment that I had planted the maple in an area that received afternoon sun and she claimed it must be planted in shade. If you zoom in to the photo it is evident on the orange tag that “full sun” is required, while the plant description tag calls for “sun to part shade”. I did not appreciate the young lady’s immediate defensive posturing and confrontational assertion that the plant died because I did not follow directions.
I am an accomplished and experienced gardener and the young lady’s condescending lecture faulting me was neither warranted or professionally acceptable.
I am a long time customer dating back to when you first opened. You are local to me and have always maintained an excellent selection of quality plants. Needless to say I was terribly disappointed in the lack of customer service I received on this occasion as it certainly has not been what I have experienced in the past. Please note that I have never needed to return anything else and only tried this time after my sister told me ”Acer Gardens, they’ll take it back” after she saw the condition of the plant."
Going forward I will look elsewhere for my gardening wants.

If there weren't a sign on Wingthrop Road advertising annuals and perennials, you might mistake the front-facing portion of the garden center for a house. Pull in and continue down the long driveway, and the nursery will appear. Many species of flowers and shrubs are visible and in bloom. The succulent selection is amazing, and we found the prices to be fair. For those who raise succulents, tropicals, or have alpine gardens, Acer sells a high-quality, custom soil blend that is far superior to the commercial options sold at other garden centers.

The diversity of plants is amazing. Even if you don't buy anything (difficulty level:high), you'll enjoy walking around the grounds and greenhouses. Everything you need in a beautiful LCRV enclave.

The most beautiful nursery I have ever been. The staff was so knowledgeable friendly and the best I feel this is the best place to buy shurbs flowers trees Best quality bought shurbs and the most beautiful purple plum tree. . I thank all the staff so helpful!

The customer service was non-existent today. Sales people were elusive! I asked the cashier if someone could assist me. She said she'd send someone over and they never appeared. As I pulled my full cart up to the checkout stand to pay, she asked if I still needed help! I saw one employee in a golf cart with a walkie talkie and 1 plant in her cart. Two people in Acer shirts were now standing around talking. No assistance was offered. There was one other customer besides me so the nursery wasn't busy! Looks like some training is necessary! What a disappointment.

The nauseating smell that comes from this place every other day in Spring and Summer is atrocious. The headache-inducing stench pollutes the air in the surrounding neighborhood and has prompted neighbors and visitors to ask if our sewage was leaking. One night I almost passed out because the smell was leaking into our house (windows and doors shut) and there was no fresh air. We have tried to address this with the owner, but he has only dismissed us, rudely yelling in our faces. This has been going on for years, with no end in sight.

Today my sister and I attended the Holiday Container Workshop at Acer Gardens. Priscilla was running the workshop and was so attentive and helpful. We both left with gorgeous Christmas centerpieces.Acers has a great selection of pointsetta plants in various colors & sizes, as well as many beautiful Xmas containers and wreaths.
