My son has been getting his racquets strung by the team at Gut Reaction for years. They are always polite and very knowledgeable.

I had a fantastic experience at Gut Reaction. Called in the morning to ask if they can restring a racquet in time for my daughter's game in the afternoon. Chris was extremely helpful and had it turned around in a couple of hours! He is very knowledgeable, understanding of the customer's needs, and fun to talk to. The shop has high quality selection and offers good value for the money. Thanks for saving the day Chris!

This place is a terrible. Super unhelpful. If you want to get much better service and a totally different experience, try Sportstech in Ryebrook. Much better than this place.

I was in the Gut Reaction store in Goodwives Shopping Center in Darien this morning, Sept. 7, 2023, with my wife. We each planned on purchasing tennis shoes and pickleball paddles. The young man working in the shop finished checking out a customer, then ignored us and went back to stringing a tenniis racquet. I then asked that he help, telling him I wanted to get a pickleball paddle. He said he didn't know anything about , kept working on the tennis racquet he was stringing, and continued to ignore me. When I noted that several pickleball paddles were displayed on the wall about five feet from where he was standing he said he played tennis and didn't know anything about pickleball. In sum, he was rude and useless. My wife and I will never shop in Gut Reacation again and would recommend that anyone looking for a tennis shop go elsewhere.

We stopped by to get the squash shoes. They said that we could wear tennis shoes for squash. So, we got the tennis shoes as they did not have the squash shoes for my son. It turned out that no tennis shoes should be worn on the squash court! My son had foot pain from wearing the tennis shoes to play squash and needed to change to the appropriate shoes. We were told by the coach it was the basics that tennis shoes are not able to wear for squash like indoor court sports as the sole is completely different. I am wondering why this supposed to be a SPECIAL racquet sports store confidently gave us such incorrect information. We spent close to $100 for wrong shoes and needed to get the appropriate shoes on Amazon, which was about half price though.

Awesome turn around time on Restringing and fairly priced for the turnaround speed. I brought my own string. I called other places and they all had longer turn around times but once I heard about this place and got my racket so quickly, this will be my go to spot for restringing.

I went to this store for the first time this week to buy some tennis clothing for myself. Chris helped me pick skirts, shirts and a pair of sneakers just by looking at my height (I’m 5’10” so not that easy to find stuff that’s not too short). There was no hard sell. Chris knew his inventory meticulously and knew what would work. The whole experience was great and I also ended up picking up four kids tennis shirts too. Great selection. Great prices. I’ll be back to demo and purchase some rackets. So happy to have found this place! Thank you Chris!

Great selection and service. Chris and the team are always helpful and have gone above and beyond when arranging special orders or providing equipment advice.

Was recommended (and sold) a racquet that was totally inappropriate for my height, weight, and skill level

my racket needed to be restrung, they recommended me Wilson NXT. labor plus string came in $48, it broke after just 6 weeks. the string had visible wear after 2 weeks, i questioned their product and techniques, so i went back. they said it was normal wear for multi-filament string and refuse to change it.

Poor customer support. I was a regular customer for years. Then, I had two racquets, both in good condition, restrung. One of the two racquets came back chipped from the clamp used during the stringing process. I pointed this out to Chris, who basically said not to worry. After a few months of normal play, the racquet developed a crack emanating from the chipped area. The racquet became unusable. I relayed these facts to Chris and asked him how he would like to proceed. After several additional e-mails by me, it became clear that he was not going to respond or to take any responsibility for this. I am disappointed (actually shocked) with this non-response. It is no way to conduct business and he has lost my patronage.
