What is bizarre about this thrift shop is that for one of the wealthiest towns in Ct they have some of the shabbiest inventory. Stains, holes, dirty things that they still put out. Then there is the inflated prices on "designer" items that seem very picked through-almost like the women working there get first dibs on anything good that comes in. Really lousy customer service. Seems like every time I've been there there was some condescending convo happening between staff and customers. This store was never a must-go but unfortunately what was once possibly worth a stop- is now a don't bother.

I experienced the worst customer service I have come across in a long time. The staff was talking down to us in a very derogatory way - what a shame.

Been going here for years. Every time I visit my sister, this is one of the first stops I make. They seem to be getting progressively worse. They aren't all bad but honestly, I think the shop is just weird. Literally one of the wealthiest parts of the state but it seems like all the donations they put out on the floor are gross? I'm guessing they keep the good stuff for their special sales and rack. Either way, I've hit my limit. The lighting is bad and this is probably the sixth thing I brought home that I then realized had a huge flaw. I'm not talking about a rip but a huge stain I somehow missed. I've been in the store and touched something with literal crust on it. Not to mention, there used to be some nice (particularly one older woman) people working the registers and now there's some of the most unhinged, rude volunteers I've ever encountered. One lady started talking very loudly to the other trying to convince her a political candidate is the devil. Believe what you want to believe, but I don't want to hear it yelled into the shop when I'm trying to look at china. One of the woman I've also heard talk not so nicely about a certain group of people. It's funny because sometimes the music is blaring and you can't hear anything and sometimes its soft and you can hear every hateful or rude encounter throughout the whole store. I remember years ago this store was managed by someone else and it was a pleasant experience going there. Subdued and reasonably priced. Last time I visited I was uncomfortable hearing how one of the staff was talking to a shopper. Will not be back unfortunately. Heartbreaking. Better off going to a goodwill or driving upstate for good consignment shops. Le sigh.

Granted it is a small space but not much inventory on hand and the clothing items seem pretty worn out; it is surprising that such an affluent area doesn't have a thrift store that benefits from it with better merchandise to offer.

This little thrift shop is such a treasure. Their staff is incredibly kind, they have a wide variety of good quality items, and one of the most exquisite glassware sections that I have ever seen in a thrift store! It has a homey feel and is in a great location.

I've shopped in here many times over a few years and it's a mixed bag. This place is SUPER CUTE! Lots of awesome finds(SOMETIMES). Listen this place is all about who you check out with some of the ladies that work here SUCK. I mean they are the worst. Asking rude questions and just downright not wanting to do the basic addition required for larger purchases. The ladies roll their eyes and make rude comments which is really disappointing because the clothes here are SO CUTE. Im not saying all the people who work here are awful but it's been a very consistent thing with the older people they seem to hire. 10/10 clothes 2/10 bitchy older ladies who check you out. DONT ASK ME IF: "everything im buy buying is for me?" (**** off) or "do you have kids yet" (really? It's 2022)

What’s the symbol for racism? Certainly not a star. Several signs are now posted in the front of the store stating that all customers must leave bags with the cashier. I assumed large carrier bags. I was wearing a crossbody medium size tote and wasn’t asked to leave my bag. A woman of color with a slightly larger tote was told to leave her bag up front. Targeting people of color in response to your recent “shoplifting” sign is an absolute disgust. So disappointed, but not surprised. Will not be returning. Do better ladies. There is NO excuse.

I have not historically been a thrifter, but the DCA Thrift Shop has a wonderful clothing section featuring designer brands. It's amazing what I've found there. The store overall is very organized and pleasant and can be a lot of fun during the "thrill of the hunt."

I have been going to this store on and off for years. I remember when it wasn't as clean and well organized as it is now. I don't always buy something, but I have gotten some nice things. Sadly, when I entered the store the other day, wearing one of those very small triangular backpacks measuring something like 8 inches at the base and 8 inches high and about 1-2 inches thick with my wallet and phone inside, I was told, in no uncertain terms,I would not be allowed to shop unless I left my bag in my car, a bag I have repeatedly worn into the store in the past. I pointed out that my coat pockets would hold more that this tiny bag, and suggested that perhaps they have people turn out their pockets as well. Another woman in the store was carrying a large handbag and did not seem to have received the same treatment. I should have exited right then and there, but they begrudgingly let me have my bag. I gathered a few items totaling $9, and gave them a credit card as I was very low on cash. Again, I was told very harshly I could not use that for purchases under $10, even though no such policy was posted, and I had done so in the past. If these "policies" had been delivered in a tone and manner that was kind and courteous, I would not be reporting it here. I know it can be difficult to deal with the public sometimes, but I did not deserve to be treated this way. I work as a volunteer at a thrift shop, and make a point of greeting everyone who comes in and making them feel welcome. I understand shoplifting is an issue, but please do not treat people with disrespect in order to prevent it. Needless to say, I will not be frequenting this shop anytime soon. Besides the nastiness, prices are very high as well and getter higher for anything nice. Too bad. It didn't have to be this way.

The DCA Thrift Shop has many hidden jewels at great prices! I have never left without buying something. The shop is very clean, organized, and the volunteers are very friendly. And the prices for the designer labels are awesome!

Lovely shop with fabulous, varied donations and a super friendly, helpful staff of volunteers. Love that the proceeds go to the not-for-profit DCA’s mission of service to the community. The Instagram posts are always showing new merchandise. A weekly destination!
