Nice rink, well maintained ice.Skate sharpening schedule is an absolute mystery, unfortunately.Hockey seems to be prioritized over figure skating (especially in the pro shop), but there are plenty of figure skaters during open rink hours. As a parent, I wish they'd turn the heat on in the upper level bleachers. It's very cold up there while watching lessons.

Friendly staff and well maintained rink. They recently added brand new skates for those that need to rent them.

Rink is not in good shape. Locker rooms are atrocious. No zamboni driver to clean the ice for a high school game. Need to figure it out.

New ownership has taken over. They started cleaning the place up refurbishing equipment which they never brought back in and painting. I just went back today after a month and a half absence. They have done nothing in that amount of time. The pool is still closed, they have not replaced the carpets, they have not finished painting, they're missing lots of equipment that many of us use to Target different parts of our bodies. There were three paper towel dispensers on the walls of which two were empty. Complete disappointment when you're paying every single month and I've been going to the same gym for over 25 years. They have sent out no emails about the current status of the gym and when they anticipate getting it completely redone. I love this gym but I'm hanging by a thread.

The ice is okay. Just went for public skating - was told that there are chairs/things to push for the little ones but they aren't allowed to use them. No idea why that is when Northford Ice Pavillion and the Newington rinks both have and allow use of them.Rink is still in really rough shape. Ice is horrible, barely any maintenance done on the place. Usually only one entrance is open which is the front. Why have parking lots to the downstairs rinks and then lock all the doors down there and even remove door handles? If it's a security issue, install some cameras down there or something. No one enjoys having to walk all the way around to go to the front and then all the way down to the ice.

They really need to take care of this place better. It has potential. Bathrooms need to be redone, they are disgusting. Ice is always in bad shape. Ice is not kept cold enough. Puck goes maybe 5 feet then stops when the pucks are kept cold

Complete disaster. No properly functioning pro-shop, locker rooms look like a scene out of a horror movie, bathrooms are nasty, and no one ever answers the phone. Been like this for years. It’s horrible having to drive 30 minutes each time you need tape or your skates sharpened and hoping they are open (no hours online and no one answers the phone so it’s impossible to know). Get with the program, PLEASE.

Great time. We did the open hockey for only $20 a person and worth every penny. The ice was in great shape and everyone there was great from the employees to the other skaters. Totally recommend!

I really hate to leave a bad review, but this is the 2nd time that this management has completed wasted my time and money.Long story short, you cannot trust the schedule they post on their website. I have a 40 minute drive to this rink. Twice now, I've checked the website for their schedule right before I leave, only to have them cancel the ice slot 10-20 minutes later. What are we expected to do, constantly check the schedule while we're driving? I've even tried calling ahead of time to confirm, and the poor employees don't know what's going on. Either that or no one has picked up. Today I drove to play open hockey only to be turned away by the great young workers saying "We only heard about this 10 minutes ago too". I don't blame anyone but ownership and the people in charge of publishing the schedule. Once again, this has now happened twice under this management team. You couldn't offer a voucher for the next open slot because of your poor communication? Even a discount? It is not trivial to lose ~3 hours of your time because a rink reneges on their posted availability. There are not a lot of open hockey/public skating rinks in Connecticut, so I don't want folks to read this and avoid this rink. We should be supporting our local rinks and trying to grow the sport for everyone. Their are enough barriers to entry in hockey. But I have to be honest with my experience. Just know, you gamble driving here and spending your time and gas based on an unreliable schedule. You can even call ahead to try to confirm the time, but that is not guaranteed.Furthermore, their google "hours of operation" is in direct conflict with their posted schedule. Google says they're close, their website says they're open. Who are folks expected to believe? I bet they're losing business because people think they're closed based on their google information. As a business owner myself, it's pretty embarrassing that they cannot be bothered to update something as simple as when they're actually open vs when they "say" they're open.Overall the employees working here were super cool and you could tell they were in the dark on the scheduling mishaps. Ownership/management needs to get their ducks in a row. I have zero expectation from this rink and will now only plan on going here if there's something else I can take care of nearby. I could have been a regular, but I 've completely lost trust in this rink's management.I hope this review is seen as constructive. I spoke with the friendly employees and asked them to voice my frustrations to management. Here's hoping this post and the kind young workers help promote some change so that Cromwell Ice Rink isn't left with frustrated customers.

$20.00 to sharpen one pair of skates?! Ridiculously overpriced. The public skate ticket price also went up to $10 per person..

Ice was terrible everytime the pick hit the bottom of the boards the puck would bounce up in the air. The nets don't stay in place and the pipes are broken.

The ice surfaces are well maintained, the session availability is usually plentiful and the rink is conveniently located close to Routes 9 and 91!
