Breathtakingly beautiful dolls. Unfortunately out of my price range, but just happy to be able to see the dolls.

Joy has been a true friend and mentor. I am privileged to be in the number of those who adore and respect her for the example of integrity. hard work. inspiration and unflagging enthusiasm for the hobby. She gets it about these amazing toys and story they have to tell. Hugs!!!

Joy's shop is better than anything your doctor could give you for the stress of life. Bring a coffee and sit awhile.

This place is amazing! Her collection of dolls and supplies are like nothing I have ever seen in my life. Her displays are exquisite and the shop is as neat and as organized as a pin. Joy is a wonderful woman to talk with and knows the history of every beautiful piece she has most amazing as well are Steiff collection. You need to go you will be amazed

Special Joys is always my first choice for lodging while visiting my daughter who is a student at the University of Connecticut. Bill and Joy welcome us with warm affection and a clean spacious place to stay. Last year we visited often and they have always been accommodating. Each room has all you need for an enjoyable stay including cable and free wifi internet services! Breakfast is always delicious with fresh fruit, warm pastry or cake and your choice of cereals. There is plenty of fresh juice, milk, tea and coffee. Downstairs is a antique doll store which is like walking through a museum with the rare dolls, houses and furniture Joy has displayed in a beautiful layout. I would highly recommend this charming Bed and Breakfast that truly is a special joy!

Great diverse collection of antiques. Was pleasantly surprised to find a large amount of older toys in addition to the wonderful dolls. Joy is wonderful. Extremely pleasant with an encyclopedias amount of knowledge.

Over the past fifteen years or so, when visiting in the Coventry CT area, my wife and I have found Special Joys to be a comfortable place to spend a few days. The two bedrooms, both upstairs, are pleasant and roomy, with beautiful views, and have private baths and comfortable beds. The breakfast is simple, ample, and tasty--fruit, cereal, baked goods. The proprietors, Joy and Bill, and friendly and helpful. The house is interesting, as Joy runs a toy and doll museum and shop downstairs in the house, and the grounds have a beautiful back lawn surrounded by trees and woods. There are a CVS, a grocery, and a couple of fairly good restaurants nearby, but you are definitely out in the country and must be prepared to drive for entertainment---for example to Hartford, about forty minutes away.

I stayed here for three nights while I attended a conference at the nearby University of Connecticut. The room was absolutely impeccable, and very quiet. Excellent breakfasts! -- The coffee was worthy of drinking black, and don't miss the coffeecake! I very much enjoyed some very interesting conversations with the hosts, Joy and Bill. If you need Internet access while staying here, bring a device -- laptop, netbook, Amazon Kindle -- that can access the Internet via a cell phone network. Also, if you're staying in this area, don't miss at least one dinner at the Altnaveigh Inn !
