Staff was very nice and accommodating. Food was delicious. Plenty of spaces for quiet moments. Was there for a retreat and enjoyed my stay. Would recommend for a retreat or for a quiet relaxing getaway.

Really wonderful staff! Marianne was so warm and gave such a wonderful welcome and help throughout the stay. The food was good and the kitchen staff was so wonderful. They also had space heaters, fans (for those who like white noise!), plenty of towels, etc. They thought of everything! I loved that the rooms had bathtubs b/c it was so nice to soak after a walk in the woods. For me the highlight was the woods/hiking behind the property. It was so beautiful! There is a hike to the reservoir which is quite lovely, but best to do it with a guide. Lovely stay, I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a warm and cozy place to have a retreat.

November 2022 - COVID Review:I had the opportunity to attend a 4-day, 3-night retreat at Guest House and the staff were absolutely great from even before I stepped foot in Connecticut! It's located in the cute small town of Chester, which is a good activity to do if you happen to have some free time during your visit. The Guest House also has an airbnb on site and although there may be other retreats/groups occurring during your stay, it doesn't feel overcrowded and everyone has their own designated meeting areas. Meal times were also handled well where we didn't overlap too much.I appreciated that they posted the food menus every day by the dining room so that you know what to anticipate. Water and tea are available around the clock, but if you have some late night munchies, you would need to pack and bring your own snacks with you. My main complaint was that the building is a little older so the rooms are a little outdated and the walls are quite thin. Overall, it was a good stay and I would visit again if I had the opportunity.

My family attended a retreat here and had a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! Right from the moment we arrived - the staff bent over backwards to see that our needs were taken care of. Very friendly crew, super food, and lovely grounds for activities. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Many thanks!I hope to have another event here in the future!Bob DouglasWizards Retreat Fall 2022

I first came to Guest House for a 7 day program as a guest. I enjoyed it so much I returned to host my own retreat. The food is wonderful, lovely grounds and amazingly accommodating staff. It's rustic and quaint. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that it could use a little updating. Some of the carpets are old in both the rooms and the conference venues, some furniture could be replaced etc. If those changes were made it would truly be a 5 star experience.

I recently attended a retreat here. The Guest House and grounds were lovely. The meals were fantastic, and the kitchen staff was able to accommodate vegan/vegetarian meal needs. The staff was warm and supportive. The overall experience was fantastic!

This is one of my absolute favorite places. I go there once a year with family, and my memories here could fill a whole book. Things I love include and are not limited to are: -- the beautiful staircase -- all the secret hideaways and hidden areas (it's perfect for kids) -- the delicious food -- the white room that is perfect for meetings of large groups. -- the fact that it is surrounded my pure green grass -- the frog pond -- the lake nearby -- the wonderful people that run it. I would give this place 10 stars if that was possible. Again, I could go on and on about how this place is so great. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It is just the loveliest place to stay, especially with a large group. I love this place so much. (PS: the desserts are delicious. They come with both lunch and dinner)

My wife was here for a retreat and I was there to tag along. The communication between the organization and here was absolutely terrible! And to be charged almost $800 for a room and food for my wife and I for three nights is absolutely ridiculous! And Mary Anne at the front desk was very rude to me about the whole situation and said that she thought we were going to leave without paying! How dare you assume that about us! We are not that kind of people! And I complained about the really loud construction that was going on right by our room and she just gave me a look like oh well. No apology or anything. Not happy at all! The good things are the convenience of staying at the place where the retreat was at and the food was good (just wish there was more variety of food at each meal) I told Mary Anne that one of the lunches the choices were turkey chili or vegan chili and the dinner that night was blackened fish. We don’t like chili and can’t do the spicy of the blackened fish and ended up going out to get food from somewhere else. I told Mary Anne this and she said that we could of talked to the chef, they have pieces of fish that aren’t blackened. It would of been nice if they had told us this. Just feel like we were talked to and treated very poorly about the situations and it seemed like they didn’t care. Not happy at all!
