Title: Disastrous Experience at Saint Vincent's Emergency Room Check-in: The Lone Silver Lining My visit to Saint Vincent's Emergency Room was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. While check-in went smoothly, it was the only sliver of efficiency in an otherwise chaotic and distressing experience. The excruciatingly long wait time for someone in my condition was utterly unacceptable. I found myself on the brink of passing out multiple times while languishing in the overcrowded and undermanaged waiting room. This ordeal only served to reinforce my longstanding aversion to doctors and my reluctance to seek so-called "professional" care. Saint Vincent's Hospital has exemplified precisely why I harbor such sentiments. From start to finish, nothing about this entire process even remotely resembled competence or professionalism. It's an egregious disservice to patients and a testament to the shortcomings of our healthcare system. Avoid at all costs.

Good staff, caring nurses and doctors. Biggest issues are some policies that don't make much sense, and mediocre communications skills. Ask a question of two different people, and get two different answers. Also found that they sometimes don't do what they say they will ... whether operational or medical staff. Patients discussed there's an expectation they know how to navigate getting to the right people and services, while often not the case. Improving communications especially with newbie patients would be a big improvement. Not to slight the many dedicated people at the hospital who work hard to make a difference.

The lack of empathy is evident. One man was walking around stumbling, and when he did sit down he was slumped all while nurses, doctors, and security walked by. Only when he completely fell and I yelled security did a fleet of doctors, nurses and random people in heels come over to check. And I overheard a nurse just say she discharged him. So you discharged him in a disoriented condition? Sounds like negligent. And my experience wasn't any better. Nurse Ryan was good and the physician assistant can't recall her name was alrite and the resident doctor seemed like he cared. But everyone else wouldn't even acknowledge you. My nurse walked into the room and mumbled whatever she was gonna do and left. Brianna was her name. She showed no type of compassion, empathy, nor a real care to help care for a patient who's last resort was this place. I'm not one to go to hospitals unless it's extreme. Guess next time I go it'll either be my death, getting shot or stabbed. All else I'll put Vicks on it.

Was extremely disappointed in the treatment of an elderly patient. There was a lack of compassion and empathy. Dr Regelmann was a bully who should not be allowed to deal with elderly patients. I feel the mental health of my friend was totally ignored and they did nothing to help settle his fears and anxieties. They just wanted to ship him out on Hospice. The student doctors were amazing which gives me a small hope that the future of health care might not be totally doomed.

My mother was the one being treated I have to say first. I took her to another hospital and they treated her horribly and the conditions were not up to par so I took her here and they were professional, fast , clean and very kind. They took care of my mother and made sure she left satisfied. I highly recommend.

One month ago I had Bariatric surgery at this facility. My experience was excellent! I was a healthcare professional for many years at 2 major hospitals in NYC, and the care and attention I received at St. Vincent's cannot be compared. And if you are wondering if I announced to the staff my knowledge and familiarity with hospital settings... I did not. The unit and rooms were impeccably clean, the staff incredibly attentive and responsive... and Dr. Sekhar... a gem.

All around disappointing service! My great aunt is staying here and the lack of knowledge and information about her case from the staff is shocking and appalling. We can never get straight or complete answers. To make matters worse, they have jackhammers going off on the floor directly above her room! It's so loud and I feel so bad, not only for her, but all the sick patients who are being tortured with all the loud noise! I just can't even believe this is what patient care looks like today!

Wife went in for a double mastectomy. Very comfortable with the surgeons and nursing staff, but due to a previous surgery mishap I was adamant about being updated as much as possible. I previously had to ask Hartford hospital staff "If my wife was dead!" And I expressed this to the nursing staff at St. Vincent's. They assured me that they would provide continuous updates. Two hours after they said they would call I finally got an update. And the nurse said she didn't call me earlier because she didn't want to bother me with hourly updates. I told her she was wrong! No apologies, no call from the surgeon. Again sitting at home wondering if my wife is dead! Poor family relations! Even when the expectation was expressed and agreed upon. Only after I complained to the nurse about the lateness of the call did the surgeon call.

Regret coming here!!! I'm currently pregnant with cramps and bleeding and they have me waiting more than 7hrs. never come here they will let you suffer for real!! so many people walked out. a gentlemen was spitting up blood and the nurse told him to hang tight because he had 22 people ahead of him. another elderly lady was waiting for 12hrs after being sent from her doctors office and they just left her in a wheelchair for 12 HOURS!!! also a couple needing help because they were having trouble breathing was also made to wait the longest hours. this is the worst hospital don't come here!!!!

My mother worked here for many years, and when someone in the family requires hospital care, this is where we go. It has changed over the years, with a lot of new construction and modernization, The biggest change is the parking garage, which is a huge improvement over the choice between the always full lot and on-street parking. It's odd visiting friends and family and not seeing at least one person I knew; whether nursing staff, dietary, or from one of the many departments that provide care. Admittedly, all of my Mom's friends would be retired by now (as would many of the people my age), and not living in the area for two decades reduced my contact with the hospital. However, it seems that the same level of care is given regardless of whether you have an 'in' or not. If I still lived in the Bridgeport area, this is the hospital I would try to go to if I needed care.

This place is a mess ! They left my son sitting in the waiting room for hours . I explained to them I can get a nurse to come to the house for simple zofran and Toradol in an IV . I'm here because I need a CT scan to rule out appendicitis!! Beware !! go somewhere else because there is zero sense of urgency here .

Don't know how they sleep at night. Released an elderly mentally ill patient at night, while broadcasting her medical records so she can't get any assistance for days.

Pitiful excuse for a hospital. Urgent care is actually better than this hell hole. I have been in here with an esophageal ulcer and they prescribed me antibiotics that made it 100 times worse and long story short I lost 30 pounds in 10 days because I couldn't eat or even drink water for a week and had to be hooked up to an IV. Fast forward 2 years and my sister wakes me up at 2:30am with extreme back pain and there is not a person in sight but the medical staff up front. In visible pain they told her to wait somewhere else because her crying in the front was a bad look for them as we sat here for an hour waiting for them to "get a room for us". I had previously had a kidney stone and was at another hospital and they immediately took me in at 12pm gave me an IV drop with morphine to get me comfortable and then started looking for what's wrong. This place is a** backwards and looks for the problem first and let's you suffer until they find something wrong. DO NOT GO HERE OR YOU WILL BE IN TERRIBLE PAIN! I attached photos of how empty the place is and they have made us wait for this long

I went to the ER at St. Vs on 12/25/1 we arrived at around 730 pm. I have had a terrible cough for 5 days at this point, when we arrived they did a rapid covid which came back neg, so they did a PCR and strep test which both came back negative. I received these results in the waiting area, I was still not in a room. Finally at about 1045pm I was roomed and Dr. O came in said that since my tests are negative I was fine, she didnt do an exam, she didnt listen to my lungs or check my throat. She sent me home with out a proper exam all because my covid test was negative. I am 13 weeks pregnant and cant take any cough medicine or many otc remedies that would normally help, I asked if she could rule out bronchitis or pneumonia and she reiterated that my covid was negative that I should just be grateful for that, she then asked if I have had nausea, I said really bad since day 1 of my pregnancy so she sent me zofran to the pharmacy and I didnt ask for that. I asked to be checked out because I have been sick for 5 days and it was getting worse, and being pregnant made it even scarier. I understand the pandemic is taking a toll on our medical field professionals, I was more than happy to wait because I knew I would see a Dr that would help me understand what is wrong, instead I got brushed off and sent home because I dont have covid. -Rebecca Velez

On Aug 21 , 2021 I took a friend of mine to the St V's ER. We got there about 3:30 PM . According to their web site there was only a 12 minute wait. My friend signed in and they told us to wait by the TV's . We sat there for awhile while 3 other patients went into the exam rooms . We sat patiently for about an hour and a half ( 90 minutes) and seeing at least 6 or 8 other patients go into the exam rooms .I finally went up to the desk and asked when they thought my friend would be seen by a doctor . They said when a bed becomes available . We waited another 60 minutes finally a women come into the waiting room and called my friends name . We asked why it took 2 .5 hours to get registered and to be brought to an exam rooms, The women said she couldn't find us . I said we were sitting right here for 2.5 hours . Then at the exam room we waited for a doctor another 30 minutes , which was reasonable . While we waited I was watching the activity at the nurses station I noticed a man in a white smock drifting around hanging by the computers finally another 20 minutes or so the same guy comes into the exam room and tells us his the Dr. . He orders blood work and a cat scan . I left and went home until my friend called me to be picked up. 2.5 hours wait just because the women said she couldn't find us and we were sitting right where they told us to go 20 feet away from them .
