I recently visited Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport and was troubled by the condition of the animals. Many appeared to be undernourished, which raised concerns about their well-being. The zoo's mission is to provide excellent care for its animals, and it was disheartening to see signs that this might not be fully realized. I hope that the zoo addresses these issues promptly to ensure that all animals receive the proper nutrition and care they need. Visitor feedback is crucial for maintaining high standards, and I encourage the zoo to review and improve its animal care practices.

It’s a much smaller size zoo, bit of pricey for what they offer. Mostly small size animals, birds, farmland cattle, a green house and rainforest. A lot of them were not visible in their shack or the visibility was reduced for smaller kids because of long grass and bush.
The cafe and gift store are good. Lots of space to sit and eat. We attended a bird show where they demonstrated three different owls. Parking lot is medium size, difficult to find parking during peak hours.

Beardsley Zoo is a perfect place for anyone who loves nature. They host an amazing array of plants, reptiles, birds, mammals, and fish within a quiet corner of busy Bridgeport. They also have made many additional attractions within the last few years for anyone who has already been there before, new sites are to be seen. Define stop for a fun family day.

Enclosure for the big animals are so small, literally smaller than my living room, I doubt they are happy. Many of them were pacing back and forth (sign of stress) and looking hot with no shade/water. One of the wolves was obsessively licking a wound on its back. Really made me feel bad after I left. I won’t be back.

Small little zoo. Apparently it's CT only zoo. I'm not sure if it's worth the money. Mid week visit for a family of 3 was $56. Considering you can walk the whole zoo in about an hour, I'm not sure it's worth it.
I'm unsure if there's a discount if tickets are purchased in advance. My daughter enjoyed it. But I was surprised on the cost.

Drove 2 hours for a bad experience. Nearly half of the exhibits were shut down. Apparently they’re under construction, but why stay open? Or charge less. I shouldn’t have been charged full price when you see half of the animals that are supposed to be there. All of the cages were WAY too small especially for all of the big cats. They had no room to run. There was no enrichment in any of the cages and no toys. All the animals were bored, stressed, and very underweight. I don’t know how they haven’t been shut down for animal neglect.

I felt like the zoo was taken well care of. The animal dens seemed well maintained and spacious enough to not feel sad, except for when we got to the large cat exhibits. The leopard and jaguar exhibits seemed so small that it brought me to tears. I’m thankful that I didn’t witness any pacing behavior. I hope that maybe I missed something and that they actually have more room than it appears. If not, I pray that they find and receive the funding to expand all of their living spaces, not just the tiger. Even if these animals are rescued or are there in an effort to repopulate an endangered breed, they still deserve more space. With that said, it was a great place for little ones and the bird show was really nice. I recommend a visit, your money will hopefully help them take as best care as they can of the animals.

Brought my grandchildren here for my youngest grandsons birthday. We talked to the people at the ticket booth about it as I purchased the tickets. I asked if there were any discounts available like EBT cards? YES, each ticket costs $10 when representing the card. When we got to the carousel, the wonderful lady said the ticket booth was supposed to give the Birthday child a FREE Ride. NOPE, they didn't. After buying 2 tickets, the woman gave both my grandchildren a free ride. Ask questions at this zoo. The habitats are sad. TOO confining for the cats and others. All the fish in one tiny pond came right up to us looking for food. I'm talking up to the edge of the tiny pond. We could actually touch them if I allowed it. Sad. When I left this zoo, I felt awful that we keep behind bars the same animals that NEED miles to range on. I will not be going back. Great Adventures has a FANTASTIC and healthy kept wildlife to view.

Alot of the animals were not there and the ones that were seemed extremely unhappy and stressed. Most enclosures seemed unkempt and dirty and had no enrichment toys/activities for the animals. Most zoos I've been too offer watering holes or water features and most animals that should have one or would benefit from one didn't have one. There were no workers around the enclosures so many unruly kids were banging on the glass and not being respectful( yes I understand parents should control their kids but we all see how some people parent nowadays). I hope they step it up with the care if the animals, it was very sad and disturbing to see.

I'm very disappointed with this zoo. I paid $50 and drove 54.9 miles in vain. My kids didn't see the wild animals they were expecting, and the farm smelled really terrible. I saw a caiman that I believe it was dead but embalmed to fool the visitors. There are not many bathrooms, and the one they have smelled really bad.
