DSS canceled mine and my toddlers Husky insurance one month before giving birth. There was an issue of miscommunication between access health and Husky. I found out through my Access health online account that my Husky was canceled. I called them to discuss because I had been using my Husky at all appointments and it was being accepted. They couldn’t give me more information so they told me to call Husky directly. So I called Husky and they said it is not canceled and that I shouldn’t worry. I’m due to give birth in one month so I called Husky again to discuss coverage for my son given the issue with access health. They transferred me to DSS with the expectation that DSS would change my Husky from Husky D to Husky A given the pregnancy and it wouldn’t be an issue. But what actually happened was that apparently I should’ve lost my Husky a long time ago since Covid is over but because of a “glitch” in the system it was still active. The supervisor decided then and there to cancel my Husky within a few days. Now I’m scrambling trying to figure out what to do for health insurance for myself, my toddler and a baby. It’s absolutely unbelievable that they would do that to me a this time. I had also asked the rep I was speaking with to have the supervisor call me and they never did.

I called dss 10 times between Thursday and Monday, spoke to 5 people who which all could not help me and I was on hold so long my phone hung up, it’s unexceptable and it’s ridiculous and they messed up my paperwork and I still can’t get anyone to fix it without being on hold, I’m about to call the senators office to report the unexceptable responses that I’ve been getting. I have to send my autistic son down there just to get me a supervisor on the phone.

I got to this office a little after 3:00 p.m. today and they closed at 4:00 p.m.. I was hoping there wasn't a line. There was but it moved quickly. I think I waited about 20 minutes tops so it wasn't too bad. What really stood out about my visit here was the lady that was assisting me. She was soooooooooooooo cordial, sooooooooooooo caring...I felt like I'd known her forever. She fixed what needed to be done so I get my food money and cash money each month (THANK GOD!!!!!). So if this office has employee of the month I vote for Isabel!!!!!!!! She deserves a raise and a bonus for being so kind to the public. GOD BLESS HER!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Troy Leong Stratford, Connecticut

Ghetto Personified.I came to the office today to drop off some documents at 3:40pm. I use a wheelchair. As I'm waiting for the worker to make copies, a large, tall, bald, man comes out from the "back double doors." I assume he's a supervisor. He's starring daggers at me, so I stare back. He asks "What are you doing here!?" I say "Dropping off documents." He grunts and walks away. Now I know Casual Friday is a thing, but he was wearing a tshirt, sagging jeans, and a gold pinky ring on his right hand.He then goes over to talk to a security guard. He says that apparently there was a threat of a shooting made to a different DSS location. While that is horrible if it was true, it does not give him the right to act slovenly towards clients. Completely unprofessional.

ZERO STARS!!! My son who has a brain injury went in there inquiring about his benefits and the lady at the desk was EXTREMELY RUDE! You are in a public service job! It’s LITERALLY Your Job to have customer service skills. If you don’t like your job then QUIT!

This is in relation to an interaction I had over the phone with a DSS employee, not sure where she was located. Danielle was very helpful and stayed on the phone with me until my issue was resolved. Because of her, I was able to resolve my issue before having to have a phone hearing. She took the time to read through my file and I submitted any other information needed while she was on the phone. She made it very straightforward and simple for me. Thank you Danielle!
