From the quote to the unload, 2800+ miles later, our experience was wonderful. The people were caring, careful and friendly, all for a reasonable price. We are very happy and highly recommend Sterling Moving & Storage.

We hired Sterling to move us from Connecticut to South Carolina this past August. Paul and Melissa were very good contacts and provided lots of information since I haven't moved in 30 years. Brock our driver (and crew) were fabulous and always available during the trip. There were a few items that we didn't received but Brock found them and dropped them off a couple days after the original delivery. I even found out a month later that I was missing something another box and Brock/Melissa found it and had the boxed rewrapped/padded and shipped directly to us. Service was exceptional and I would use them again. FYI, we packed our own boxes. Thx you Sterling.

I had the pleasure of meeting Julian, Cameron and Joshua on the morning of my move (loading the truck) on August 1, 2023. They did an amazing, fantastic, thorough, job of wrapping my furniture and handling my more delicate furniture pieces with extra TLC. They were very professional, courteous, respectful, understanding and sympathetic to me as my anxieties were very high for my past moves that were a living, walking, breathing nightmare. They each were very friendly and gracious. Cameron and Julian, brothers were also from new Jersey and we spoke in detail about the state etc....Thank you gentlemenDina Comman

We recently partnered with Sterling for a big move from CT to FL. From our initial contact with Paul Ryan who oversaw the quoting process to Melissa who had to deal with a picky customer and keep us apprised throughout the process/trip to Brock and his packing team to Brock again along with Stan who executed the move - all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. No damage, on time, good value and completely packed and unpacked everything from furniture to silverware.I could not recommend this organization more highly.

Jason and his team did such a great job with our move. We have moved with the military 8 times now and we’ve had some good and some not so good experiences with other movers. This move was extremely smooth. They took care packing all of our items carefully and so efficiently. The whole team was professional and personable. Very impressed! Thank you!

Connecticut to Florida MoveInsurance offered, covered only 20% of actual damage. First was blanket denial, then partial acceptance of responsibility, then offer of 20 cents on the dollar of what was damaged. Be prepared to spend countless hours on this, they wore me down I finally walked away. A number of higher end professionally packed art pieces damaged as witnessed by homeowner, denied. Saw them dropped, didn’t matter.Crew’s infighting led to a police response due to the threat of gun violence between the driver and the packing crew (5 cruisers and a supervisor) After packers we’re paid-off to leave after only packing a small portion of the home, support from ownership was none, after first call for assistance they stopped answering phone. Had to call in on different number to get them to pick up and get updates, each time.Second crew arrived after three hour police intervention, rushed packing, which led to watching a stacked and packed section of truck collapse, damaging most all items involved ( not covered by insurance). What items remained at 11:30 that night were thrown in cargo hold underneath truck, all arrived damaged( not covered by insurance)Most items went directly into storage, as items were opened up I found little that survived without some level of damage. The subsequent response that will follow will undoubtedly claim some kind of justification, as witnessed in previous posts. Disregard them, it is so they can claim they are responsive. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!3 27/2023 : Response of claim at time of delivery response from Steering, I was informed once by Sterlings sale representative, the driver and in documentation that the time frame of reporting was an open window for a period of time, A partial claim may of resulted in a sign off of future damage found to be denied. I was told repeatedly that a deferred claim after delivery was not a concern and would be treated the same as at an at time of delivery claim. Their response of not making a claim at time of delivery is just absurd. The adjuster that was eventually sent documented all damages. This was done at the house and storage unit, two delivery points as arranged.Items in cargo bay of truck, nothing was wrapped or protected, that’s the service they were to provide. Do not confuse poor workmanship and neglect with what should of been use of best practices. The damaged artwork, they we’re in crates, 3/4 sheathing, 2x3 inner frame with one inch foam surrounding contents. Being dropped from about 56 inch’s off a truck to the pavement from the side door did the damage. Anything I packed in cardboard box’s survived the trip fine, none of my claims were for those items. Only Steerling packed items were damaged. An example of this was my solid maple dining room table, packed by Steerling, denied claim. There was some packing and wrapping of items included in the moving package, a reasonable expectation. No one was sent home for not wearing a uniform, the packers left because of police intervention. This was a full blown police response, the 12 year old next door filmed the 10 minute fight after the school bus dropped him and the other children off. It looked like an MMA fight, people being kicked in the head, punched….I answered phone calls from concerned neighbors all evening. When I find the proper platform I will post the videos of the altercation. I could also include pictures of the driver being detained by local police. The packers being interviewed by the police all on my front lawn. The main reason it was not escalated to arrests was to allow the move to continue, the condition being the packers were paid cash and were to leave. I know because I drove the driver to the bank to retrieve the cash.I will continue to respond to untrue information and explanations by Sterling.

Nightmare from start to finish, the packers infighting ended in 5 police cars at my home. The sales staff were useless and did little to secure new packers, ended up with a rag-tag team of guys the driver knew, at 6:00 that night, finished at 11:30 that evening.Almost everything was damaged, add insult to injury they denied most of my claimed items, after taking out the "better insurance".I watched them drop my furniture off the back of the truck, drag my dining table across the trucks doorway, all denied. North American Van lines wouldn't return any calls, Dodge me at every turn. Use local fam firms, that is my advice. CHC

October 2022 by Charles Steele
We felt like we were in good hands for our move from Massachusetts to North Carolina when the salesman showed up with his iPad and gave us a computerized copy of our inventory and estimated costs. On moving day, the driver shows up with four or five helpers and slaps 3-digit stickers on everything and gives us a handwritten unreadable inventory copy of what has been loaded. What happened to our belongings when they were delivered 6 months later is outrageous. The driver was anxious to get the truck unloaded as quickly as possible so he could drive back to Connecticut. The non-English speaking workers unloading, moved faster than we could check off the numbers of what was being delivered. It looked like our furniture and boxes had been tossed around like a medicine ball. Antique heirloom clocks were destroyed. Chairs were broken. Crystal bowls were shattered. Wardrobe boxes were destroyed with the clothes all sitting in a heap. Many boxes were missing. Why this company is still in business is a complete mystery.

We hired Sterling Moving to move our home from Connecticut to Massachusetts. For this, we had their sales guy, Paul come out and give us a quote. Their pricing was significantly higher than competitors. However, they offered what was described to me as "Replacement Cost" Insurance, which seemed to cover everything so we went with them. Due to a labor shortage, they split our packing into two days. The first day, their people showed up four hours late, and one of the guys left only after 30 minutes. They were supposed to pack 100 boxes, and only packed less than 80. The 2nd day went better. However they were frantically packing still on the day of the load. During this time, they significantly damaged my $3000 Precor elliptical, literally tearing off one of the arms. Since that time (over a month now), it has not been resolved and now they do not want to replace as advertised, but to do some hinky repair. Very disappointing and not what was promised by the salesman Paul, or in the insurance policy. The move itself seemed to go well and the crew as good. However, after the move, we found that the crew had left several things at the house and didn't load them in the truck. If took my wife and I four separate trips with a pick up truck and car to load and transport the items the moving company missed to our new home....what we paid them to do!I would not recommend them to anyone! All I got from the salesman Paul when I brought this up was a statement, telling me "We F@ked up! Real nice,Use anyone else but them. Their insurance is worthless, as soon as you have a problem, they tell you they have 4 months to resolve it! Move on from considering Sterling for your Move!

More than average loading time, almost 4 hours to get loaded, they just have a single dock, so you’ll be in a queue & they take more than 1 1/2 hours on each truck..Restrooms available, doubt about overnight parking as they have a fenced gate.

Staff turned what could have been a really, long, uncomfortable day into a quick, efficient day with their ingenuity and willingness to get dirty. Staff were able provide what was asked for with professionalism and humor. Would highly recommend.

I found Sterling as most due via a web search. They came out to my house to quote my move from CT to Florida. The sales person appeared very competent and assured me they have a long standing relationship with all of their employees so I Can trust my items would we well cared for from move out to move in. Couldnt be further from the truth. The driver in fact told me he rarely knows the crew he is working wth, and apologized that he had a" bad crew" for my move. I was present when the house was packed in CT and also when it was unpacked in Florida. The only time I wasnt present was when they had to "shuttle" my items between 2 trucks. Upon arrival of the gods in Florida, the damage was outrageous. I would have had better luck with a baggage handler at the airport. Beds, desks, tables, lamps, planters, all damaged. No one cared. Tens of thousands of dollars worth of furniture was damaged. My only recourse is to file a claim with their Insurance company who insisted no claim would even be looked at until Sterling was paid in full.Essentially, Sterling holds your belongings hostage until they are paid and dont have to deal with the customer again.Would never use this company again or encourage anyone to use them. Highly unprofessional, and the sales person in my opinion is fraud.

Paul and Melissa were great setting up and coordinating both our moves this year. The drivers, Josue and Aaron were professional and worked with us to make sure everything was done the way we wanted and communicated throughout the move. And the crews they used were excellent. Could not be more pleased.

From the start, Sterling misrepresented themselves as a competent, reliable, and responsive business. This could not be further from the truth. From the moment they entered our home in Connecticut, things have been going wrong. They have broken countless items of ours, dropped furniture, and left boxes at our house that we had to call them to come back to take.We moved from Connecticut to Ohio in December of 2020. Half of our things were moving from our old house to a new rental, and the other half would be going into storage. When we arrived at our rental property, nearly all of the furniture we CLEARLY marked as going to the house was not there. We had to go the storage facility ourselves to try and find what we needed. When we finally moved into our new house and received our items from storage in October 2021, four boxes were missing. This includes family heirlooms from now deceased family members, baby books, and items meant to pass down to our children. We've called numerous times, and have yet to receive any information about our missing items. Once they have your money, they couldn't care less about what happens to your possessions.DO NOT MOVE WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

The staff was friendly and helpful but my bed frame was lost. The driver says he thinks it got left at the old house. Lamp broken and just left like it was okay. Broke my porch railing when moving couch in. Told me they would fix it before they left.... it's still broken. They never fixed it. Had to keep asking them to put things back together. Even with me reminding them tables still left apart. Would not recommend this company.
