It's a small shop but extremely knowledgeable. If you have a British car that you want restored or repaired, this is the place to go.

Wouldn't bring my Land Rover anywhere else. Knowledgeable, friendly and intelligent. Best shop around for British cars. He will restore your car better than if it just came off the lot new. Quality work worth every cent. Best around!!!

If you want superior, honest expertise and handling of your classic british car, call Charlie at British Motors. He'll go above board to make your experience as easy as possible. My 73' MGB was a frame up restoration that was an AAA+++ job! 50+ years of British car restoration and repairs experience can speak for themselves. Excellent communication.

I purchased a cylinder head for a Series 3 Jaguar XJ6 after I saw the listing on ebay. My first mistake was doing the transaction outside of ebay because the seller lowered the price. 1) Shipping. The head was barely protected. thrown in a box with a plank of wood protecting the mating surface. Multiple studs bent from UPS throwing it around. For the price I paid (and the screw-job he was giving me) the least he coulda done is made a proper box... I would of even paid more for it. 2) Head was described as having been completely refurbished with new seats, guides and springs. I pulled it apart and found that the seats were original, just recut. Guides also look original but it's hard to say. I know the seats were recut because he also ground the tips of the valves to provide clearance under the cam which means the seats are shallower than new. 3) While inspecting the head I noticed that one of the exhaust side cam-follower buckets had started to lift (a known issue for XK heads). He didn't mention this in the description and obviously didn't bother to fix it. 4) Head was skimmed as is usual for an XK engine head but whoever did it did not do a very good job. There are visible tool marks in the form of circular scratches left by the resurfacer. 5) Head was described as 'ready to install' but as anyone who knows these Jags will tell you, you have to set up the cam follower lash with pre-made shims to between .012-.014. None of them were anywhere near correct - some had spacing of .019 and over... meaning another $40 or $50 bucks at the parts store. 6) Neither of the manifold mating-surfaces were resurfaced - they were just covered with TONS of silver paint to make them look okay. All of the original studs were in place and also covered with silver paint. He just scraped the surfaces as well as he could and broke out the paint. These things never would've sealed right. 7) Silver paint on EVERYTHING including some of the cam bearings. He's very good at painting stuff (not so good at masking things that shouldn't be painted). This guy talks a good game and seems like a nice guy. He even has 100% feedback on ebay.... but be very wary of any of his re-manufactured parts and don't buy from him outside of ebay. At least then you can have some protection. If I didn't know about Jags and just installed this mess I'd be one sorry SOB. As it is I paid twice as much as I should've.
