Best farm stand because they have the best plants. Their tomatoes are worth going out of your way for. They are delicious, more so than other grown–in–CT fruit.
They carry an array of fruit and vegetables from other farms, too.
Their plants are hardy and grow like crazy because they’re acclimated to this area.
Finally, they take hot peppers seriously. There are sometimes six varieties on offer. Beware of the red Hungarians – they are infernal!

Nice farm having numerous flowers and plants. The price is on a little higher side than the other farm I visited in Middletown. But overall a great place to buy for your garden.

Really great farm stand! Staff is fun. Produce us fresh. The bread comes in every morning still warm from the oven!

I recently moved nearby and was curious about this Farm's offerings. My review exclusively focusses on the food-related Farm-stand part of the business. They sell plants and flowers, but I didn't pay attention to that aspect of their operations. Cold Spring sells some of their own produce, products from other CT Farms and/or Orchards, Cold Spring branded products such as salsa, and other area products such as bread from a local bakery. I bought green cabbage, peaches, celery and salsa. Everything seemed appropriate quality for seasonal CT produce. The produce I didn't buy also looked good and represented what's in season pretty well. I will definitely go back for in season produce since I live in the area. This is an observation as opposed to a criticism. The reason I'm giving Cold Brook 4 Stars rather than 5 Stars relates to the extent of their offerings compared to another Farm Stand I frequently visit that's a bit farther away. That Farm Stand has a wide range of partnerships with high end CT businesses and they have things like high quality bagels, cheeses, pies, cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches, etc. That Farm Stand also has a wider range of canned goods, meats, and dairy products etc. I would travel farther to a Farm Stand like that because there are more products that interest me. Cold Spring will be the place I go for convenience when I want in season produce for a few days.

Beautiful plants, etc. No one on site mid afternoon to answer questions or help carry purchases. One cashier working..... overwhelmed & not too friendly.

3 glorious seasons of the year you can find starter flats and baskets here at Cold Spring Broom. Annuals, perennials, and garden starters are all here! As they price individually and in sets, you may end up bringing home more plants than planned, but this is a good spot to get it all started. We now have a glorious set of tomatoes in progress, and now a couple extra tomato planters. The double decker wagons all over also help you take home more. The little farm store, extra colorful with its murals, has honey, maple syrup, salsa, and maybe more on down the season. It's neat to see start and end of season at the checkout, and the staff was kind. Thankfully there is extra parking is on both sides of the farm store, in case you're driving East, just look out for wagon traffic on your way through each greenhouse.

My mother went earlier this week and bought three baskets of second peppers for $10.00. Went back to get more. The price went up to $13.47 and the quality was significantly inferior. I understand they are seconds with overripe peppers and some blemishes. However, these now more expense peppers include significant blemishes and are of much interior quality. Perhaps they should be called thirds. When my mother 80-year old mother questioned it, she was told if she is going to complain to go somewhere else. Wow. That we will my friend. I'll gladly drive out of the way to support farms that know how to treat their customers.
