C'mon people, where is your sense of adventure and excitement?
I for one, find it exhilarating to drop a piece of mail in the outside mailbox and gamble that it find its way to its destination or ends up in some federal government black hole, never to be seen again.
What could be as exciting as reading a sign on the entrance to the post office, posted by the Avon PD ( now removed) that you are advised not to use the outside drop box due to theft. Gosh, one would think a CCV camera with night vision wouldn't break the budget. Maybe we citizens can hold a bake sale for funding.
From this message board it appears that a new Postmaster is in place. I sure hope he is more visible than the last one. Trying to see him/her was like trying to see the Wizard of OZ hiding behind the big door in the lobby with the sign Postmaster. I do like the counter staff. I've always had a pleasant experience with them.

I go here often, they recognize me and generally the staff is OK to me but I came to mail something and I had just gotten all my passport stuff together but the place was deserted so I asked if maybe they could accept my stuff. I didn't have an appointment but I had everything all done and I used to process passports when I worked so it's not like I need a lot of help. The nice woman at the window went to the back to ask on my behalf and of course the answer was no and I was told to make an appointment online. P.S. Online it says you can schedule an appointment at the office but I wasn't given that option so I didn't know to ask about it. When I went home the online scheduling system was down and has been down for hours. I thought the new postmaster here would make a difference but I guess not. Now when I finally can make an appointment and come back it will probably be packed in there and they'll have to spare someone from the windows to help me while the line gets longer and longer out the door. It's a good thing I'm months out from my trip. Just in case you want to know why everything is so difficult at this post office this is one reason why.

I sent a very important envelope that was missing for a few days. Drew, the Post Master, was amazing and help resolve the issue asap.

Woman at the counter was unhelpful. Told me I can't ship a license plate to the DMV when the address is clearly marked for a friend's residence. Mind your own business and do your job. It shouldn't take 30 minutes to send a plate in the mail.

ALERT! This morning when we were on our way out of Applewood Lane in Farmington Woods we saw the mailboxes outside of Gsrage units #6 and 7. They were all open and pieces of mail scattered all over the road!!! We originally thought the mail carrier left the boxes open and some mail blew out! When we stopped to pick up the mail in the street it wasn’t even mail from the boxes that were open. It was mail for units down the street. We shut the boxes and proceeded to bring the mail that was in the road to the AVON POST OFFICE to complain. First mistake!!! We arrived at the post office and I asked this younger gentleman at the window if the postmaster was available? He said no! I asked for a supervisor and he said she was out! He asked if he could help. I proceeded to explain by showing him the picture of the open mailboxes and handing him a dozen pieces of undelivered mail that was blowing all over the street. I proceeded to say that the mail carrier should be reprimanded and warned about such negligence. He immediately responded by saying well how do we know kids didn’t do this???? I said the truck had just left the area and depositing the mail and this not an issue of child vandalism. This man was very rude and for everything I’ve heard about the AVON POST OFFICE this is their usual style. I am planning on returning on Monday to talk to and show the post master this photo and tell him about the mail that was scattered in the street. I suggest that anyone who uses these mailboxes also please follow up and call the AVON POST OFFICE also and complain. This is very upsetting to say the least. Some of the mail we returned were bank statements etc lying in the road. Our MONDAY-FRIDAY regular mail carrier Earle is off weekends and he is so conscientious that he would never do this. Whoever was covering today is to blame. Very sad! Thanks for taking time to read this! A ‘1’ rating is too good for this post office. Terrible!

Absolutely the worst post office. Won’t even answer calls and messed up my mail forwarding. All my mail is being now held.

It could be 0 star. The guy who helped me was ok but the lady was so rude and unpleasant, it was unbelievable! This is a customer service. I went to apply for a passport for my baby. I brought a picture made at CVS 2x2. I cut the picture a bit larger not to bring the whole sheet. They told me the picture was too big and no they don't have scissors for me to cut it. A post office with no scissors? What a joke. The lady used the passport template to check my picture and the size of the head was perfect, she didn't look happy because she was wrong. Again no scissors to trim it to the right size, ridiculous!!

This post office is usually very busy. The folks here are friendly and do their best, and are also usually very overwhelmed and understaffed. If I'm in a rush, I go elsewhere.
