“Gifts of Love does a lot of good in the community. They coordinate donation of goods, money, and services to get people what they need in order to thrive. They are a great place to donate clothing and home goods to, as you know those things will go to the people who need them most. The people who are helped here are treated with kindness and dignity, which is so important when someone is struggling.Great place, and I'm glad they're local!”

“I have been kicking myself for not having any idea the ReStore store has been so close to me for a while now. I purchased my house in 2016, this store would have saved me so much money, I had no idea what it was, or had any interest in it. When I would drive by, I thought it was a storage facility. I didn't think twice about putting it into Google, Yelp or going inside to see what it was. My friend pointed it out to me the other day, and said we have to go there. Ohhmyygoodness this is a MUST stop if you are moving into a new apartment or house. They have furniture galore. They have dining tables and chairs, desks, lamps and chandeliers, framed artwork and mirrors, and so much more. New inventory is constantly coming in. Everything is so much less expensive than any furniture store, even less expensive than Ikea, yet the quality is there. I got this very cute painting of a lighthouse in a beautiful white wood frame for $5. I also got a pouf for sitting for only $15. I have been looking for one of these for a while, they are super expensive, the one that matches my couch was $200. This one is black and white, pretty neutral, looks great and is such a bargain. If you need anything new for your home, please stop by here first. There is no way you'll walk out empty handed.”

“The nature center is a great place to learn more about wildlife, habitats and the natural world. They have numerous informative displays, animals to see inside, as well as outside in the birds of prey cages, they have several nature trails (ranging from short to long, easy to follow and mostly easy terrain with a couple you might put in a more moderate category) they also have several events throughout the year and summer programs to check out. The nature center is also does wildlife rehabilitation so you'll also be able to learn about that. I have been lucky enough to have started at the nature center as a young child going to the summer programs and working my way up to when I was older volunteering at the nature center. I highly recommend the nature center for everyone who wants to learn and explore the natural world.”

“Howdy folks. I just started attending this wonderful facility. Staff for but one elderly man who first greeted me are wonderful. Charlie is awesome! I must say that I am very disappointed with the present hours of operation. Precisely, the closing times!! For someone who works, goes home to unwind and eat. Surely the hours should be open till 9pm during the week at least. Closing at 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday is a real let down. Surely you would think the facility would serve its members better if they had the opportunity to use the Y more freely with extended hours. Especially on the weekend!!! My days don’t get started till the afternoon on weekends. I believe this arrangement of hours better serves the Y staff more than serving paying members. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. With that said. It’s a wonderful place to be!!”

“I love this organization because it’s a group of women who love giving back to the community! I’ve met so many great friends and participated in some incredible community service projects over the years. My favorite event is Volunteer-a-Thon where members do 26.2 hours of service for the greater Hartford community. So much fun!”

“Adopted a ferret from FACT 2 years ago. It was an amazing experience. Beautiful happy crew there. All playing and super well cared for even during the crazy days if the pandemic. They spent time to help with lots of advice. Got a lesson on how to best clean a ferret’s ears. I was missing spots before. The munchkin I adopted is the happiest guy. He’s taught me a lot, given me heaps of love and I suspect has more to teach me. ;) And a brother and sister a bit older than him have made him even happier. Now there’s amazing tube wars, ball pit smack downs, and so much dooking and human laughter too. Thank you so much to Vanessa and FACT for all the ferrets you save every day and for giving me a chance to share my life with one of your special munchkins. ♥️He sends lots of kisses to you in thanks too. xox”

“This review comes from my heart.. I am a partially disabled air force vet. Since the covid 19 struck i have had the worst luck you can imagine. I am 61 years old and have led my life with integrity!!!! I was laid off from my job over 6 months ago. I have no money at all. I was being evicted from my apartment and have no one to turn to for help. I am not used to asking for help. 211 referred me to Unite CT.. This is where I met Sherese. She is such an amazing person. Sherese takes her job very seriously!. She cares so much about helping people. Without her i would be homeless now. I insisted on thanking her publicly. She deserves all the kudos in the world. I just cant thank her enough. Now i understand why she is the supervisor. I wish i could do more for her. Thanks to Sherese i have a roof over my head tonight!!!!!!”

“Very nice YMCA. Newly renovated Sauna and Steam Room. Large rock wall and exercise rooms. Two pools with splash pad and large hot tub! The Subway Restaurant has since closed which was a huge perk for the kids after swim lessons. For now, there are no definitive plans for a replacement food vendor but I heard that Subway could make a return!”

“I got hurt at work and had to go on disability the only place I can afford, would be a place like renting a room at the YMCA it was clean comfortable everybody was friendly and nice I really have no complaints it was a nice stepping stone but I did get offered a couple other apartments that goes by my income, but without the YMCA I would have been stuck on the shelters or the streets”

“Great place for all of your health care needs!! My therapist Jade is wonderful. She actually talks to me and even offers advice. She's very kind.I've been reading other comments and I understand no healthcare facility is perfect, especially in this day and age with a shortage of doctors and nurses, but I feel like Wheeler is getting a bad rap with some of the negative comments I've read. All I can say is give them a try and make your own judgement. I did and I'm very happy with my decision!”

“Thank you imagination for being apart of the ct free this year so that many kids in ct can have the opportunity to explore this hidden gem. Brought the kids here and they enjoyed themselves. A huge shout out to Karen who works at the museum. You can tell she really enjoys her job and showed my children and I how to use a lot of the cool extras the museum had to offer at different stations. She made the experience that much better for all of us and was extremely sweet and helpful this was important because this was our first time visiting and we did not know much about this place. She is one of the reasons I gave this museum 5 stars. On the other hand there was another worker there with short black hair that was watching us like a hawk and picked on my kids whenever I was busy with the little one. She made them so uncomfortable they soon gave her her own name in which I don’t know her real name but my kids will consider her as the “museum police” every time she came their way. She embarrassed them and humiliated them a couple of times of front of people and I find that extremely unprofessional as they were just sitting or walking around quietly exploring the museum for their first time. I think she was not used to seeing Hispanics in the building as the non Hispanics clearly did not seem to endure this type of harassment as she chatted with them politely. I will be making a phone call to her superior and explain to them more in detail about my experience in particular with this employee.”

“ARC is my favorite VOAD! Always a professional and kind environment. They kept their appointment and called me in right at the scheduled time.I recommend downloading the mobile app, to easily track your history and future appointments. They are skilled and for safety won’t let you donate if you present that day with high blood pressure.”
