This is my third stay required for a business meeting. I cannot recommend this property.Rooms: Very old look and feelDusty potpourri in bathroomDocking stations for technology that no longer existsOne of my windows was missing a screen-I needed to open both upon entering as the heat had been turned to high and the window without a screen would not shut back closed properlyOld school heating/AC unitSafety: Access to front and side doors does not require a room key.No staff monitor front door near Towpath ballroomNo security camerasNoteworthy details: There is a pronounced smell in the room and common areasThe elevators have seen better days-very beat up and dingyWeak wifi

nice place. my room didn't have much of a scent at all and was cool, albeit dated. the amenities are blood orange scented. the desk girl was nice and the muffin was bad. not many outlets though.Walkability: hotel forms a very large arch with the entrance at one end so if you have one of the higher level or further rooms it may be roughFood & drinks: yummy yummy in my tummy

We enjoyed our stay. Location was great, staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very old new England. Loved the old decor. The room itself was located in the motel section and faced the very busy road. It was loud all night! The beds were very squeaky and uncomfortable. Like sleeping on a trampoline...lol we also had to move them away from the wall as the headboard bangs every time you move. Besides that, everything was great, especially the breakfast and bar!

We had a wonderful experience here. Check in was pleasant and easy. The only down side was, being new years eve, the restaurant and bar were closed. We will definitely visit again. The hotel itself was decorated for Christmas ?, that combined with the antiques appointing the hallways and lobby made the place warm and inviting.

We had our wedding at the hotel and it was incredible. Gail was such a pleasure to work with and executed everything perfectly. The whole staff was amazing, Abigail who helped worked the wedding was so kind and helpful, she was there until the end and then back first thing the next morning to help with brunch. I could not be happier that we went with this venue. The rooms were also fantastic. Our guests who stayed in the hotel let us know that the beds were great and the rooms were awesome. Also the Sunday brunch was perfect. Thank you Gail, Abigail and the whole staff at Avon old Farms for making our wedding a very magical day.

Beautiful hotel! Clean, comfortable and my room was quiet, even though the hotel was booked. Was prefect for my weekend stay. Plus the breakfast bar had real food!

This place is better than all other hotel options around Lake Compost.Tons of activities for all ages.Multiple fire pits, free bike rentals, outdoor giant chess board, small indoor game room, Billiard table & a fantastic restaurant. Full breakfast, brunch & dinner options. Top notch.Huge outdoor swimming pool, basketball court, corn hole games, board games.Highly recommend paying the small extra fee for an upper level room. The lower level rooms are not as nice. Pay for the upgrade, you will likely be disappointed otherwise.Check out the golf course located diagonally across the street, The amusement park is a 28 minute drive and well worth the ride.Rooms: Clean, large, two upholstered chairs, TV, radio, alarm, seating table, windows open, heat in bathroom ceiling, vanity area, dorm fridge, two queen beds, decorated in a Victorian style.

Definitely a motel - not some special historic hotel. So very disappointing - when booking they should say, do you want the upper hotel (if it is a hotel) or the motel. We stayed in the lower portion that is an old motel. Air conditioner in window old and decrepit. Bathroom sink cracked in two or three places. Rug shredded at door frame. Everything very old. Would never recommend this place to anyone! New England may be old, but this CT motel is from the 50’s. And it is not a hotel. It’s a terrible misconception. Would never stay here again.

Looks nice outside. Immediately hit with a strong musty smell when we entered our room. A sign posted said they sell beer at the pool for $7. The young man charge me $10, I assumed he was including tip on his own accord. Dinner at Seasons was the best part.Rooms: Dated, needs paint , musty

We had our wedding here in June and it was the most wonderful experience. Gail, the event coordinator, answered all questions quickly and thoroughly, made time to give us multiple tours of the property in different seasons and coordinated with our vendors to ensure they had all the information they needed. I loved that we were able to bring in all of our own vendors as the hotel does not provide catering. We were able to stock our own bar and hire bartenders which saved us a ton of money. The backyard space was beautiful for our ceremony and our guests wandered the property throughout the evening. They had a tent for our cocktail hour. It also had a great backup plan in case of bad weather. The Towpath Ballroom has a glass atrium that can be used as the backup ceremony location, which is beautiful in the spring/summer with a bright green backdrop. The rooms were great, easy to book and all our guests complimented the space many times. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a wedding venue. In addition, the Sunday brunch is wonderful!!!
