Jim was able to take my car the same day I called and it was finished that afternoon. Friendly service, fair prices and he explained what needed to be done and why.

Over priced and when oil was changed we got car back with 0 oil in it of coarse they denied it and blamed the car had a further problem brought to dealer filled and checked no problem. I was referred to them 1st time there they wouldn't take responsibility for a simple mistake!!!! 2004 scion still running not leaking a drop!!!

Like other reviewers, I expected better of this place since I checked the Google reviews instead of going right to Yelp like I should have. The Naugatuck Valley seems to be a wasteland when it comes to competent mechanics that don't charge an arm and a leg. My first interaction with Branigan's was in the summer when my brakes lines went when I had to slam on my brakes by the Ansonia Cumberland Farms. I didn't want to risk taking it to the guys in Bridgeport I went to last time (especially since I wasn't sure if this was due to their incompetence or just because my car at the time was old), so I figured I'd give Branigan's a chance since I hadn't gone to them before and wanted to see if they were trustworthy enough to be my new go-to mechanic. Well, Jim, the owner I'm guessing, was nice enough and said I could have my car brought in ASAP and have it towed over since my brakes were gone. I had my car brought in and this employee named Joe (he's got a thick accent so I couldn't understand him sometimes so I think that's his name) refused to work on it saying, and I quote, "Your car is no good. It's rotten. You gonna kill yourself or somebody else because this car is not fit for the road. The frame is done for! I refuse and any mechanic worth his salt is going to refuse to fix your car and even if the frame wasn't rotten, it would be $800-$900 in repairs for the brakes and muffler!" Seeing as how I was having a really horrible time in my life at this point and I was hoping this would just be a $150-$300 repair, when I tell you I, a grown a** woman of (nearly, at the time) 30 years old, broke down weeping and blubbering like an infant at the prospect of letting one of my favorite cars that had served me well for 7 years go, I mean it. Joe was patient with me, sent over pictures of the rotten subframe which I sent to my backyard mechanic friends to confirm that he was correct and wasn't yanking my leg, and offered for me to buy one of their used cars. I told him that I had $600 to my name at that point and we soon established that I don't make enough per month to afford any of their used cars, even with payments. He kept asking me to have a family member co-sign on a loan and told me to think it over and they'd call back later. Jim called me the next day and asked what I wanted to do, so, I had my car brought home and junked it at my own leisure. He was kind enough to understand my predicament and didn't even charge me for the diagnostic, which is why I went back to Branigan's for incident #2. This one good interaction is why I'm giving this place 2 stars. It doesn't get better from this point on. I got another used car after this and the Check Engine light went on, so, I went to AutoZone and got the code and called up Branigan's and talked to Joe. Joe, much to my surprise, didn't even want to know what the code was (most mechanics are at least passingly curious enough to know what the code is), he just said that their code reader is infinitely better than anything at AutoZone and whatever is wrong, he'll find out exactly what it is. I was a little taken aback, but gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe he just wanted to reassure me. He called me a few hours later saying, much to my surprise, THE EXACT SAME THING ABOUT MY LAST CAR. "This car is ROTTEN, it no good, you gonna kill yourself or somebody else if you keep this thing on the road!" When I tell you that I felt a deep rage brewing in my veins, I really friggin mean it. How stupid did this guy think I am? Just because I'm not Rosie the Riveter doesn't mean someone, to quote Judge Judy, can pee on my leg and tell me it's raining! Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, as they say. I let Joe have it saying, "Okay, you told me this about my last car that I brought in. I had 2 mechanically minded friend

Worst car repair shop i have EVER been to. They take WEEKS to repair the simplest of tasks on cars. I had to get new brake rotors and it took them 4 WEEKS FOR IT TO BE DONE. I brought my car in because of a tire issue, they told me it was a brake issue and i still have the tire issue! Do NOTTTTTT bring your car to this joke of a shop. Literal sloths working here.

Way over priced. I had a water pump replaced on my van and they charged me $700. They were going to charge more but I complained and they knocked it down to $700. The part was $400 and they're $100 in the auto parts store. Never again!

Branigan's is awesome! They can fix anything & stand behind their work 100%. My husband & I discovered them by chance but wouldn't take our cars anywhere else. They are small enough to know you by name but large enough to handle all your car care needs from tune-ups to tires. It's great to find a local business that takes pride in their workmanship.
