“Small store both on the outside and inside but a large walk in beer cave makes it all worth it. Huge variety of craft beers and especially Connecticut breweries. 2 registers are always open and staff is nice and friendly.”

1189 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon“This place is my new favorite for buying alcohol. The prices are reasonable and they have a large variety to choose from. Even some alcohol that is harder to find, they had it here.”
“There is NO OTHER PLACE TO SHOP than Lafayette Wine and Liquors, the customer service and selection here is the best!! Every time I have an event, I simply call in and the staff puts aside a perfect selection of wine and liquor based on the head count. I don't have to do any thinking at all. I am in the customer service industry and the owner of this shop makes me want to give better customer service. If they don't have a wine or liquor in, they will find it. Being able to just drive up and get my boxes of alcohol for any event is just the definition of perfect service. There is no place I would shop! It is locally owned and run, and I am happy to give them my business.”
“I love this place! Cute hometown feel with the selection I was used to in Atlanta (actually better which surprised me). They even started to stock my favorite wine! Friendly and knowledgeable staff who make great recommendations and REALLY know their product. I will be a regular, thank you!!”
“Great spot to go if you are in the area. Always willing to go over the top for his customers and the most humble liquor store owner in the area. Neil is a great guy and will always order what you want if it’s not available on hand. Definitely stop by Tolland Cordial Shoppe and look at their selection. Good vibes and good music always nothing less.”
“Competitive prices, great mix of liquor/wine/& beer!!! Owner is awesome, if he doesn’t carry something, he will get it for you! Really takes care of his customers!”
“hard to believe some gave them 1 star??.. they are always friendly, helpful and have great prices. a good place to go to for all your refreshing beverage needs..”
“They have a huge selection of booze at a really good price. It is definitely much bigger than it looks from the outside! Also really like the interior design of the place.”
“A decent selection for such a small place. It's especially nice that they sell a fair amount of cans singularly. The staff is always very friendly and the prices are fair too!”
“The staff here is really nice, I love coming here for my little wine, or fav drinks to have a nice time. It's such a big liquor store, you always find what you're looking for! Very organized too :)”
“UPDATE... I went back in and spoke to the gentleman with whom I had the bad experience. He explained himself and I explained myself as well. We cleared the air and I went ahead and made the purchase I intended on making in the first place. All good now.
?
Got to tell you I'm torn about this review. I moved up here from New York few years ago. I spent the prior 12 or so years in the wine and liquor business. Had a blast. I was one of the founders and the general manager of St Mark's Wine and Liquor in the East Village and I was the manager of Juice Box wines in Windsor Terrace until COVID forced me out of working in retail.
When we moved here I found this shop a few miles from my house, and I was very happy because they have a truly impressive very well curated selection. It's a very pretty shop.
Last year my new community asked me to do a wine tasting event for them because they knew I was in the business. So I bought quite a few cases for the event. I actually bought way more than I needed and ended up sitting on the wine and drinking it slowly over the next year with friends and neighbors. I paid for that event out of my pocket including the foods that I used for tasting education.
My community asked me to do it again. I really had no interest in doing it but I have such a great bunch of neighbors that I knew they would appreciate it. They said they didn't want me to pay this time so they said they would give me $10 a person towards the event I told him I can make that happen. I figured I would pay for any overages. We had fun last time and I'm sure it would be fun again.
I went back to Country Roads Wines, picked out a few bottles that I thought would be interesting. Just went back to pick them up or order them I should say... The proprietor actually suspected that I was reselling the wines. He actually thought that I was going to make some sort of fortune selling four cases of wines marked up about a dollar a piece or so. We're talking vino Verde here folks...$8 retail bottle... How can he even suspect that this is my scheme. What kind of absolute loser moron would come up with a scam of buying a couple of cases of $10 white wine to resell for profit? I can't even do math that would make that make sense.
Anyway I am completely embarrassed at this point. I can't believe that anybody would suspect me of anything... I get it and I understand these guys have to protect their business but holy cow... It's one thing that they never really made me feel welcome there maybe because a New Yorker and my telling them I was in the business came across as bragging...(I've been told by more than one person that they hated me when they first met me and then they eventually realized I was just joking around or they eventually realized that was a very nice guy... Seriously three different times that happened to me so I get it when people get the wrong first impression), even though I complimented their selection and spent hundreds of dollars in the store... I just feel sad that somebody would think that of me.
What's worse is this proprietor seems to know people in my community and all he had to do is ask anyone who knows me if I'm on the up and up. He even mentioned a friend of mine by name... if you knew her he could have asked her between last year and this year if I was on the up and up. I've worked my whole 60 years of my life to keep a spotless reputation. I'm not mad at the guy I'm just really sad that someone would think that of me and I'm kind of embarrassed to walk back in there. I don't seem to have a way of clearing my reputation.
My wife recently threw me a surprise 60th birthday and when people asked what they should get me as a gift one of the two places she thought of regarding gift certificates was this shop the other was a restaurant.
I don't feel ”
“The owners and staff are great, a lot of product knowledge and every friendly. I won't go to Willimantic often but whenever I do I stop in, mostly for the conversation but the booze aren't bad either!”
“Been coming here for years. Staff are very friendly. Today i went in and they ran out of my normal liquor, got recommended to a different type of liquor. The one they recommended may become my new “normal”! Always happy to do business with harrys!!”
“Has Mikkeller, Kent Falls, and Foley Brothers craft beer! Ice Cream Man is on the shelves at least once a week with a rare sighting of Double Scoop by Back East.”
“A new place to find those, "hard to find" bottles. It's a bit of a drive and it's off the beaten path but if you're trying to find the hard to find then this might be your only stop! A great selection of tequila, as well as wines. Also a good selection of whisky and bourbon, but like everywhere else in the northern states don't expect BTAC bottles to be sitting there on the shelf. No price gouging as well! ?”
“On occassion, they have a guy at the register who cant count. If you have change, he wont provide service if you dont do the simple math and count it for him. Aside from that idiot, service and staff is great.”
“I’ve been apart of the Andover Community for more than 18 years and honestly if they don’t have what u want they will order it and help you in anyway they can been super nice to me and everyone I know”
