“Ok so the original Black & Read a few miles north is amazing, but this little hole in the wall storefront is still full of charm!! I feel like it gets a bad rap being compared to the other store. But we had fun (and love eclectic records!). Lots of great records, great prices, and is far more organized than other (very old) reviews claim. If you want a quick stop for some good tunes, a family game, or something to read, definitely stop in (on Saturdays!). We'll be back for the next treasure hunt”
“Lovely little shop with an elevator to get to all the levels. Staff is very kind and helpful. A wonderful place to spend time, whether or not you're looking to buy books! And a huge selection of that is what you're looking for.”
“Charming and cozy used bookstore. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. A wide variety of rare and also more widely known books, all in excellent condition! Pricing is definitely reasonable. This is the perfect place to spend a snowy/rainy day!”
“MATTER is an incredible bookstore with design, social conscious, and urban studies books that are often hard to find, pulling from a wide range of publishers like Verso, Phaidon, MIT Press. Beyond the incredible curating, print making, and great customer service, you get the sense that MATTER is a true shop front: if you have a chance to strike up a conversation, then you find the uniqueness in the connection MATTER has to global publishing, activism, and authorship. Denver is a better and more enriched cultural city for having MATTER!”
“Hands down my favorite place for board games in CO, we drive down here from Loveland litteraly just for this sometimes. Not to mention the killer music and book selection. The staff and owner are good people!”
“Came here for the mini vendor market outside and eventually came inside to explore! There's a wide variety of books, music, and artwork that you can browse from. Have a nice list of drinks or small baked goods to choose from, which I ordered a cold matcha latte! There is plenty of seating near the entrance or back amongst the books. Definitely a unique place to stop by! I enjoyed conversing with the vendors outside as well.”

“My youngest son has a passion for trains. As we had some time in Colorado this weekend this was a must-stop. We ended up spending several hours there. This is a very interactive and neat place to visit. We were able to go on the train ride, and explore the grounds. Staff is very friendly and helpful, this is a treat for anyone, even the ones that may not be so passionate about trains.”

316 S Broadway, Denver“Love this bookstore! Fair prices, and I love that they have a lot of paperbacks (it feels like most used book stores stock primarily hardcovers). Well-stocked sci-fi section. Great environment for browsing.”
“I had been looking for a music store near me for some time now, and when i discovered that Barnes and Noble also sold music cds aside from books. i decided to check out their library.
If you love vinyl, it’s somewhat pricy, but they have an array of choices for you.
If you love CDs, it also a great choice, considering Westminster in this part of town doesn’t really have many music stores that carry both older and modern music genres.
I bought like 5 cds all together. They’ve been great.”
“We always find what we are looking for here. Fast friendly service and well stocked children's area and manga/graphic novel section. Lucky for me it's got a great cookbook section next to manga!”
“Jennifer (Tuesdays and Thursdays!) was so lovely and so knowledgeable and so helpful. Even if she's wrong about the Outlander series. ? If you need any help or recommendations, she's the one. 10/10”

“Going here was kind of healing to be honest. I’m a gay uncle and the last place I ever expect to see myself is in the children’s section. Not only did I find a great book for my nephew but the staff was so lovely and gift wrapped it free of charge for me. Would highly recommend to anyone!”

624 E 13th Ave, Denver“This place was awesome. It’s a gem of a hole in the wall bookstore with a cozy vibe and honestly fire selection of books. Really had a super great time exploring here. It’s also right next to a record store so this whole corner is great to explore and shop.”
“This place is amazing. I felt no judgement or rush or anything the other reviews said. I felt accepted and helped completely. I came in looking for offerings for my altar and I left with four books, a new tarot deck, anointing oil and my offerings. They're incredibly knowledgeable and helped me with every question I had. Their prices are reasonable too. I HIGHLY recommend. I will 100% be back. Yeah, if you come in 5 minutes before they close they're probably going to rush. I would too. A little common sense and human decency go a long way.”
“This is my go to store and I love the selection. The stock rotates pretty consistently and there are always new things to see. The employees are another level of fantastic Noel and Lainey are wonderful people and make me feel so welcome every time I come in!!!”

7580 Grant Pl, Arvada“Took my 13 year old in to grab a few things. Charming place with fair prices! Staff is friendly and helpful! The owner wrote their own program in Excel to track inventory and that's probably the coolest thing about this place!! A++ come check it out.”

3601 S Sherman St, Englewood“I really enjoyed my experience in this bookstore. It had been several decades since I had been in the store - and the ownership has changed since then.I really appreciated the diversity of subcultures within the items sold in the store. It is full of spiritual tools for those looking for personal growth and development. They sell a very large selection of recovery coins for those involved in 12 Step Recovery programs looking to mark milestones of sobriety, etc.I met and spoke with the owner Jenny D'Vega. She was very pleasant and eager to answer all questions I had about the products she sells - and their intended purposes. She shared her personal opinions about my face in a very brief reading of my face.I found her insight to be accurate in terms of how I experience myself.I thought that was very gracious and kind of her.”
“The cashier was so knowledeble about al the incense they sold and also about the jead video cleaners and also which one will help me get the most powerful clean ever. Plus ybr guy was super duper cute”
“This place is a gem! There are many hard to find books! If you're looking for a special book that you can't find anywhere else, try here. Great service!”
“What a wonderful gem! THIS is the place to go for Catholic books especially. Every book I’ve had my eye on and many that weren’t even on my radar are on these shelves. Lots of beautiful children’s books and coloring books, lovely prints, statues, jewelry, etc. Everything you need for gifts or to treat yourself. The owner was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this shop!”
“This is my favorite Catholic gift shop! I find all I need here to support our religious life, whether it be gifts, books, incense, statues, cards, veils, etc. I most appreciate the children’s materials that complement our homeschool curriculum. Every single time we have come in here, we are treated like family. My children are welcome, and I am always so happy to see the owners and employees. This is definitely the place to go for a wide selection of goodies.”
