I never write poor reviews nor do I like to complain, although this company is by far the worst.. My uncle hired them to remodel his bathroom, kitchen, flooring, and a few other things.. From the start the communication was close to non existent, was never on time. . This went on for roughly 6 months and none of the projects ever got completed.. Due to the flooring not being completed successfully my 80 yr old grandmother tripped on a gap and fell walking into the kitchen. . None of the baseboards were completed.. The cabinets in the kitchen were installed blocking heat vents, and another cabinet that was installed is unable to even be used due to the placement of it.. They covered the bathroom heating vent with drywall and never cut it out.. They never even replaced any of the heating vent covers through the entire house... The list goes on.. I honestly don't even think they deserve the 1 star although I had to in order to leave a review.. If you're looking to get any work done to your home I'D TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE..!! This company is by far the worst and they will leave you with uncompleted projects and your home looking worse than before and more importantly unsafe..Services: Install flooring

Austin is a scam artist, and a very good one. We signed a contract with Austin on 10/5/2021 for $57,750 and then added additional work for a total contract of $67,050.00. We paid Austin $54050.00 plus a $3500.00 deposit for a total of $57550.00. Going thru the project several red flags started happening that concerned us. He wrote a NSF check to the subcontractor who put our marble top, refused to pay the electrician for services rendered, was unable to order our flooring due to an account issue, Chase bank called us and asked us questions on a check we gave to Austin, and then Austin stated he accidently put a check wrote to Black Rhino in his personal account and that the bank was returning the check. He then asked us to re-issue a check and we did (trusting him that he was telling us the truth). The next day both checks hit our account and we immediately issued a stop payment on one of the checks. His contract charges for a permit that was never pulled, and his contract is conflicting as it states Black Rhino will not obtain permits as required per work request. How can you charge me for a permit, that your own contract states you will not obtain? We never received $2000 in cabinets for an additional room, and we are missing a cabinet door.We hired a different contractor to do the insulation in the attic that we paid $2250.00 for.We gave Austin a sample of the tile we wanted and he stated he ordered it, but never produced it (nor did we get our sample back), but we paid him $3500.00We purchased our own sink and faucet and had another contractor install this, and we paid the other contractor directly ($1500). Austin had several appointments set with other contractors who never showed up. This held up our project approximately 2 weeks and he agreed that we could bring in our own contractor and we would a receive credit since he couldn't provide the service, nor had he purchased the sink and faucet. The flooring, we purchased ourselves. He sent us to a flooring company in Longmont and when we chose our flooring they told us that Austin didn't have an account with them. At this point in the construction several red flags with finances were starting to show up so we just paid for the flooring ourselves. We paid $1000 to have an exhaust fan installed that had to be completed by another contractor. The electrical - Austin had a great electrician, but he had some medical issues and couldn't finish the job. Austin couldn't get a different sub-contractor so we hired our own and paid them $4100.00. This allowed Black Rhino to move forward with the project as we was on hold until the electrical work was completed, The original contractor was never paid for any of his services that he started, so in order to prevent a lien from the sub-contractor we paid him even though we paid Austin for the electrical.Austin would send invoices for the work they were doing at the time. Then he quit coming over or we wouldn't see him for weeks at a time and he would send invoices that said "draw". We questioned why we were paying him when he was not working on our project. There was always an excuse as to why he wasn't coming around (not due to non-payment from us). We were at a point that we had paid for tile, electrical, permits, cabinets we hadn't received....he wasn't coming around, and still asking for money so we said we wanted to see some progress in the work before we were willing to pay additional money. We filed a lawsuit and won for over $12,000, unfortunately have not been able to collect as the bank accounts have all been closed.Read the reviews and you will see that it is the same from several people, money issues, unfinished projects and temper/attitude. I wish I would have done my due diligence and checked. I would always suggest you check the county any contractor lives in before allowing them in your home for any domestic or criminal records, the secretary of state, and do not pay before services are rendered. It is okay to pay as the project is progressing, but do not pay in advance,

I'm not one to make reviews on here but I read a couple of bad reviews from black rhino before hiring them and was hesitant to hire them at first. We were looking for a qualified contractor and found black rhino. Austin contacted us and scheduled an appointment to come look at our bathroom we wanted to remodel. I was pleasantly surprised with how much he knew about remodeling and knew about the small details that we didn't even think about. We got other bids from other contractors but decided to go with black rhino. The bid is a bit higher than we would have liked but the work he's doing is coming along. We have been getting weekly updates, if not daily with what steps are going on in our bathroom remodel. It's a huge bathroom remodel so we knew it would take some time.Currently, our bathroom is still being remodeled but we are excited as to how it's going to look since the work so far is pretty impressive. So far, so good. If you're hesitant on hiring brc, go for it. you'll be happy you did.

I needed a flooring install and found black rhino custom. Im glad I went with them. My floors were originally from the early 2000's. We wanted a change that would fit the house since were remodeling everything. We went with some dark grey flooring and love it. The installing didn't take forever and wasn't tedius either. Thanks guys!Service: Flooring

We had an electrical fire early this year on our deck. After months of searching for contractors that either didn't show up, didn't provide a detailed estimate or just seemed a bit shady we were recommended to reach out to Black Rhino Custom. Best recommendation ever. Austin replied to us right away, showed up to see the damage and proposed an estimate within 24 hours. He worked with us financially to get the repairs completed. Crew was so nice and communicated with us every step of the way. Work completed within 4 days. We are very happy with the results. Thank you Black Rhino Custom. Definitely using you guys for future repairs and remodels.Services: General construction

Take notice as the 1-star reviews are spot on AND most if not all the 5-star reviews are planted reviews. Austin Draper is the owner of Black Rhino Custom, Austin was hired for a kitchen remodel project and Austin was in the beginning very attentive and “caring” about how we were holding up without a working kitchen. Then communication waned and became non-existent. Austin also took zero responsibility for anything that went awry. So many things, I should have written a daily blog…Austin fabricates and comes up with alterative facts a lot! Neither Austin nor his crew showed up on time… ever. If Austin said they would be at my house at 900am and never showed before 1100am… that is if anyone showed up at all.Kitchen was torn out in July and Austin stopped responding to my communications right before Thanksgiving requesting a timeline to complete our kitchen. At one point Austin’s cell was shut off. I thought maybe Austin blocked me, but I had others who Austin doesn’t know try the number and they got the same response. That went on for a week. Then I got through with a text and left a voicemail the first week of December. Here we are the first of February and still no response. BBB complaint has gone unanswered as well.Oh and Austin's crew dragged cabinets across my newly installed wood floor without putting the floor protection as he said they would. As a result the entire floor needed to be refinished due to deep gouges from the front through the house to the and in the kitchen. So, I suspect Austin Draper went MIA as Austin didn't want to follow through with his word about paying to fix ($3700).Thankfully, we found others to help us finish our kitchen and it looks awesome – too bad Austin Draper with Black Rhino Customs can’t take credit for it this gorgeous kitchen- Austin's loss. Those who helped finish will get pictures on the reviews I leave for them.To sum it up - Austin Draper starts out strong but wimps out long before the finish and you are left on our own. Austin also displays chauvinistic behaviors. Austin would say things to try and get me to respond a ‘typical female hysteric’ manner. First off, that is not me, second that is what men do in order to disrespect and display perceived dominance over women – Austin never behaved in that manner towards my husband.Check out bbb complaints. The picture attached is how Austin Draper with Black Rhino Custom left us right before the holidays - no oven/microwave installed, kitchen sink not hooked up nor dishwasher- glass cabinet fronts missing the glass... Just don't do it... find someone else.Service: Remodeling

Requested a quote and never showed. Now you are going to lie and fabricate things. You failed to show up so how could this even have occurred. Even more reason for people to avoid your business:Sorry Joshua Yoder, but as a business owner we make decisions in the best interest of the client and Black Rhino Custom. In your situation we needed you to get a structural engineer to come evaluate the home for the work that needed to be completed and you didn't want to do that. We couldn't do the work you wanted without the structural engineer!

Austin and Black Rhino custom exteriors did an excellent job repairing our water damaged subfloor in the kitchen. He fit us in within a few days of me contacting him and the whole project only took a few hours. Good communication. He and his crew were extremely polite and cleaned up after themselves like they were never here! I will be recommending him and will call him again if needed. Thank you!Service: Flooring

I had a shower remodeled by black rhino custom. First of all, the job sites they keep are super clean and organized. The bid they gave me was reasonable. They were responsive during the whole time and kept me updated regularly on the project.Service: Remodeling

I originally used a different company to install new flooring for my new home about a year ago. They did a horrible job so I contacted brc to help repair the floor. They did a great job repairing what the other contractor had done and exceeded my expectations. I found them through an ad on Facebook and I'm glad I did. I have not had any issues what so ever thus far with my flooring.Service: Floor fitting
