My husband and I recently relocated to Durango. During our move from Texas to Colorado I lost my driver license. When my new license came in the mail it had my new Durango address on it. We stopped at this gas station to pick up beer but when I showed them my ID they refused to accept it, saying "they have never seen that before and I should get a Colorado license." They decided that it must be a fake since it was a Texas ID with a Colorado address. (The DMV allowed for my new out of state address to go on my Texas ID) When I asked them to scan the license to see that it was not a fake the female cashier cut me off mid sentence with a loud "No, I'm not scanning that." After returning to the car empty handed I explained the situation to my husband. He then grabbed his ID (which had our old address on it) to get the beer and walked in on the staff discussing the incident with the rest of the gas station. He was able to get the beer but not before the staff questioned, "So you're with that other girl," and continued to assume his ID was also a fake until he finally was able to get them to scan the ID. I understand being worried about someone underage trying to get alcohol with a fake but the staffs aggression and refusal to scan was really upsetting. When my husband left with the beer they continued to talk about how "awkward" it had all been and that they had just never seen that before. Not the best experience.
