We live full time in our travel trailer for the last 3 years and are retired. We primarily travel in the western US usually staying in a location for two weeks and have worked out at more than 20 different Anytime Fitness locations in our travels. Personally I have been working out for over 40 years……the last 7 at Anytime Fitness.
I have to say that it is not the largest one we have ever seen but it has everything that anyone can want. Most importantly, it is the cleanest and most well kept gym we have ever been to. The local residents should be proud of the friendly staff and the respectful manager of this location. All the equipment is kept in brand new shape and the manager has been seen constantly cleaning while simultaneously helping new members in joining up or learning to use the equipment.
Kudos to the entire team….Anytime Fitness should use this gym as a model for all their locations!

I LOVE this gym . Love knowing they are inclusive/ supportive to all people and fitness levels. Also this gym provides great 1/1 services that are healthy and body positive. I’ve always felt safe here when going alone as well which is a huge plus for me !

Very clean gym. Very kind personal trainer, Eric. I had some personal issues that prevented me from continuing my fitness journey here, but I'll definitely be back when I'm able! When the manager was unable to solve an issue I was having satisfactorily, Roxanne, the owner stepped in immediately and was able to fix things. It's nice to know the owners care.

5 star gym. Visiting from out of town and couldn’t have had a better experience. The staff here is very professional, personable, and friendly. The gym itself has everything you need to lift weights or do cardio optimally. Very spacious and everyone has enough room to do what they want comfortably. The machines and equipment are all up to date and work efficiently as they should. Definitely would recommend this gym to anyone in the area!

Fellow travelers and seasonal workers! I just wanted to warn others about the way in which the gym manager/owner conducts this business and the rights you have if you are an Anytime Fitness member. I live in Denver but come to Salida a few weeks a year and use the Anytime Fitness here when I’m around as well as travel half of the year all over the country. As others have commented, this location seems target and has harassed guests who do not pay dues at the local gym and you will be called via phone for every possible infraction that you didn’t even know existed. It’s creepy and has caused a great amount of anxiety for me.
I understand the reason behind this as people who live in the area full time and are using the Poncha Springs location the MAJORITY of the time should pay dues there. However, official franchise rules after calling Anytime Fitness Corporate, are you have 2 months of not visiting another location before requiring a transfer of membership and having to pay dues at your new frequent use gym and wanted to make sure folks know that. This location and owner would benefit from giving others the benefit of the doubt and not all travelers who are not all trying to be “dishonest” and pay cheaper dues elsewhere but they might be here for a couple weeks at a time very regularly or 2 months here for the summer. Or maybe the owners should just open a non-franchise gym where they can have more control because that’s what it feels like this is about.
I’ve only gone to this location a few times ( I travel half the year and have visited over 50 locations at this point, all with VERY positive experiences) and after two different visits received phone calls. One was totally my bad and involved a misunderstanding with a friend who had an active and fit direct account but just didn’t have their key fob. After receiving a phone call I offered to pay for their $20 day pass but ended up sorting it out at another location. It was shocking to receive repeated phone calls that involved threats to shut off my key fob because I “snuck someone in”.
Assuming the worst of every customer is not the way to go and very unprofessional. Reading these other reviews is mind blowing and I would constantly be afraid of breaking infractions and definitely will be walking on egg shells if I visit again. Every person that walks in is a future potential member of the gym if they are not already and is the case for me as well as I’m planning on moving here next year.
Overall I still am giving 3 stars because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, the equipment is great, it’s never crazy crowded and it seems like the best option in town.
EDIT: After posting this very honest review of my experience that was fair (I could have given 1 star like others but I don’t think it deserves that as there are positives I mentioned as well!), I received a text from the owner asking to chat. Usually that would would be something I’m open to but I do not want to be made to feel guilty about my review and told to take it down, so I decided to think about it for a bit. After not responding in 3 hours I received another text asking to chat that ended with them mentioning they would respect my privacy and not reach out again, which is very professional! However, the next day I received yet another text asking to talk because they wanted the “scathing review” taken down. I will not be bullied into removing a very honest view of my experience!
Also the info I shared about the Anytime Fitness Transfer Policy came directly from a phone call with corporate after I asked for clarification.

Anytime Fitness Poncha Springs is the most service-dog accommodating and friendly Anytime Fitness we have ever frequented! We are non-local AF members from Denver but have been working out AF Poncha Springs on many weekends for almost 5 years now! Not only is this our favorite AF gym, our service-pup Nessie looooooves the owners and staff (and strength area!) at AF Poncha too! Especially when they bring her treats!! Thank you owners and staff at AF Poncha, the THREE of us love you!

I've been a member of Anytime Fitness for a while and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything I need for a great workout. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, always available to answer questions or provide guidance.
One of the best things about Anytime Fitness is the convenience. The hours accommodate my busy schedule perfectly. The variety of equipment and the availability of classes have also made it easy for me to stay motivated and achieve my fitness goals.

What they charged for a day pass is criminal! It wouldn't be so bad if they had a swimming pool for a sauna or a jacuzzi or something else to make it worth your while, but just to work out and take a shower? Outrageous

The negative Google reviews here are laughable! This is by far the best run gym we have ever been members of! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the consistencies across the few low-scoring reviews. They are typically 1.) people angry about policies or locked out because they refused to follow policies, 2.) scammers that sneak non-members in after staffed hours, 3.) scammers that sign up in other cheaper markets thereby robbing AF Poncha of dues, etc. And THEN have the audacity to write bad reviews once caught. What a disservice these people bring to our wonderful little community and gym!
Bottom line, AF Poncha Springs is the greatest thing to happen to our local community in decades! The owners and staff are incredible, they care so much about all their local members and their health! They work diligently to provide members with a truly PREMIUM experience....not letting policy violators ruin the experience for other members, and not letting scammers steal funds that go toward keeping the business top-notch! Thank you AF Poncha Springs owners and staff for everything you do for us, our gym and our health.

Most unprofessional management.
Signed up in alamosa where we live , and started to work out in salida for this next month , so we thought It would be perfect to be able to Workout at both.
Yes it’s cheaper. But that’s where we live and aren’t staying out in Salida.
Don’t open up a franchise that is known
To by worldwide and you can use that membership anywhere, at any facility. They’ll ban you saying you didn’t wipe there machines down or you were slamming the weights without a warning or anything…, when you in fact didn’t and indeed wiped everything down.
This location is overcharging and scamming people just because they know they can. It’s basically one franchisee of one anytime fitness against another franchisee. And the customer is the one who gets screwed .
Have fun with your Franchise.

What I appreciate most about Anytime Fitness in Poncha Springs is how much thought and care the owners and staff put into creating a safe and respectful environment. They have polices in place to support that.
The vast majority of members do a great job of honoring that. Unfortunately there appear to be a select few who must believe the rules do not apply to them. Even worse is when they write nasty reviews rather than take responsibility for their behavior.
I am grateful to the owners and staff advocating for the majority of their membership and keeping the facility safe and clean!
