Came for a night last week to celebrate Josephine's birthday. Balcony Room 204 was spacious with great light and a big sunny balcony. The spa sauna and hot tub were perfect. Dinner at the saloon outstanding. We nordic skied at Ironton, went to the hots springs pool in Town. The hotel is charming and the restoration was well done, retaining the character of the original structure. Good job all around.

This is such a special spot. The hotel has so much character & they did an amazing job restoring the historic building. It’s a real beauty! Staff were all so friendly. Food & bar were excellent. Can’t wait to come back!

Stayed 3 nights at the Western Hotel on a solo roadtrip. Originally booked 2 nights, but loved it so much I added another. Loved everything from the rooms with their eclectic western decor and charm to the Grotto Spa (glorious hot soaking pool, cold plunge and sauna - which I had to myself!!) to the amazingly delicious hamburger, salad and mocktail I enjoyed at the Saloon. There was a cool pop-up shop from Crossbow Leather Telluride. The staff (Hi Katie!) was super nice and helpful and chill. It was just the vibe I was looking for. I will certainly return!(as a note - there is no elevator - just steps which are a little steep!)

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during the fall of 2023, and it was great. The staff, the room, everything. We came back to their restaurant in March 2024 and it was amazing. I had their soup de jour a vegetable sour with large beans, cabbage, kale, carrots and ginger; it was divine. I also enjoyed their Pork Belly Lettuce wraps, again amazing. My husband had their burger with salad and he really enjoyed it. I tasted it, it was good, but he likes it rarer than I do, soooo. The staff are all super friendly, and the check is delivered in an old paperback book (so cute). Then we decided to have a pomegranate cheese cake and it was delicious, but we were so stuffed we probably shouldn't have ordered it. I was great regardless. The atmosphere is so comfy, they had a wonderful singer. LOVE IT!

My wife and I had the most amazing one night stay here. From the moment we entered, we were met with great vibes and caring staff. To add to the unmatched atmosphere, The drinks and food are easily the best in town. The price range, the thought behind every detail of decor/theme, the views from the room, the location, quality, live music entertainment, the spa, I can’t say enough positive words. The rooms were extremely clean and cute, they even gave us robes/slippers and a speaker. My only note is that the pillows are hard/thick and caused for a little neck pain. I can’t wait to return and stay for an extended period!

Last week I had the pleasure to stay here and cannot say enough good things about the entire experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel right at home welcoming me with a tour of the hotel and sharing some of the history from its inception in 1891. The attention to detail throughout the hotel is masterful, with original wallpaper, preservation of their Grotto Spa, and a Saloon that will make you feel like you stepped back in time to an old cowboy era. On top of this, the dining experience was top notch, with talented chefs in the wood fired kitchen to skilled bartenders crafting your favorite cocktail or mock tail. I cannot recommend this stay enough for your next trip to Ouray.

This is a beautiful hotel with welcoming, warm and friendly staff! The rooms and grounds were very clean, the bar was spotless and the bartenders were excellent at their craft. The onsite resturant was beautiful and the food was top notch. There is an ungrounded spa that was relaxing, clean and green. Water and fruit were provided for patrons and there was no extra charge for use of these facilities with a stay here. Only a block away from Main Street or grants access to everything.A super duper thank you to Elise! She was very informative and even gave us a bit of a history tour! Her service in multiple roles was always cheery, warm and genuine.

This hotel was built in 1891 and was a brothel. Some company built it just a few years ago and did a total renovation on the whole building. Unfortunately, space area was not completed yet but the nice staff did let us take a look. It is going to be amazing. Hotel staff was very friendly and answered any questions we had regarding the town of Ouray. It is not handicap accessible and anyone with difficulty climbing step steps this hotel is probably not for you. They do not have any ground level rooms. We managed the stairs just fine with 2 big and 1 small luggage. Parking was easy for us because town closes for 2 weeks in December. I’m not sure what parking is like during summer months. The rooms are super clean and every little detail was thought of down to the robes and slippers. We did have a balcony room but did take advantage of it because of weather.Rooms: Very clean and spacious.Walkability: This is great walking distance to all shops and local grocery store.Food & drinks: We had supper in the dining room and it is a 5star experience. It is pricey but worth at least one time.

We stayed here for two nights, and booked one of the balcony rooms rm 204. The views are incredible. What they have done to this beautiful historic hotel is remarkable. It is very trendy, modern with the rustic charm from its original Era. Every staff member from the front desk clerks, bartender, waitress and even house keeping were very friendly and hospitable. Each went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We loved the decor of the room and all the furnishings. Bed and linens we top notch. We slept very well. The clawfoot tub was used both nights by my wife. There is no air conditioning and the sun beams thru the windows most of the day, and was pretty warm. All we did was lower the shades cracked windows and open the balcony door and the nice mountain air cooled it down just nice. We had a cocktail at the bar and dinner in the romantic dining room. The Juniper Roasted Duck and Blue Cornbread was delicious. The town is small so you can walk anywhere. The room has a small fridge and toaster oven. Just up the street is a small grocery store if you need anything. The Yankee Girl is a must for breakfast. One important thing to note... this hotel is not idea for the elderly or handicap. There is not an elevator. There are three floors accessible by stairs only. The only negative for us and not that big of a deal, is that the pillows which were nice were just a little thick which was tough on the neck. I highly recommend if you are stopping in Ouray to stay here. We loved and can't wait to come back during the summer time. They do put AC units in the windows during the summer months.

My actual rating is 3.75, but rounded up to a 4. Venue = 5 stars, food = 3 stars. Lovely staff. Firstly, the building they're in is just fantastic and I love the way they've done the booth seating. I heard good things about the food so maybe my expectations were a bit too high. The entrees were good but not great. The fondue appetizer was very good. In hindsight my wife and I should have just ordered a bunch of apps. She got the chef's special which was a steak mole and mushrooms and sunchokes. I got the trout with beets and pears. Both were just OK. Will definitely go back and try again though. Would love to have this place as our regular date night spot.

The place and STAFF were Awesome. The food.... well, a bit overpriced for what you get, and not that good (yet). I was told the chef and restaurant were newly re-opened. I ordered the Bison skewers. Note to chef, Bison is tough, not the best meat for a skewer, it was so tough and chewy. The garnishment was great though. However, it was 50 bucks for just my dish.. the shrimp, elk and grits was missing the elk (another 35) ... I could barely chew my food. We didn't say anything, as the staff was so nice. But..chef, bison is best for a burger :). and maybe add all the ingredients listed.

Charming hotel with loads of history and stunning vistas. The view from our shower alone was stunning. The restaurant was wonderful as was the bar with delightful specialty cocktails. Rooms were creatively designed and comfortable. Challenges included inferior blinds to block out light at night, and a vibrating noise that prevented a good night's sleep in room 309. Upon mentioning perpetual noise to staff, our issue was dismissed as possibly due to "entities" haunting the hotel, or the wind. There was no attempt to remediate this concern, which was disappointing.

Nice surprise, was able to secure seats at the chef's table watching the kitchen. Drinks were good, good was also good. Service and staff were great. Beautiful restoration done on this historic building. Worth checking out.

Beautiful rooms. Great front desk service. Perfect location. Enjoyed area. Restaurant and bar below with live entertainment was terrific. Delicious food. Swanky sauces. Downsides: stairway to upstairs rooms rather treacherous. Better railings needed. Amazing desk service but no one available all night. Place is empty of staff. That's a little scary and odd. Manager encounter was brief but came off rudely. She tried overstepping her amazing staff whose service was always helpful. No air conditioning is an issue. Yes swamp coolers are in the room but I don't know how to use them. Totally unfamiliar. No one bothered to show or explain prior.

At almost $600 a night this hotel was a major disappointment. Even at $200 it would be. 1. Bathroom, no counter and only one small shelf for bathroom supplies. 2. Toilet paper holder gone. 3. In all three rooms only 2 very small trash cans. Room not serviced with towels, straightened up or trash removal. We were gone all day, returned at 5 pm and rested. No service. 4. Deep bathtub with shower overhead and only a shower curtain to hold onto that only covered two thirds of shower. Very very dangerous. Hand held shower did not work. 5. One small mirror in entire suite. 6. Bed room was very bright at night with light on window AC plus the curtains were only partially covering windows. 7. The curtain covering door to patio not working making it difficult to go to patio. 8. No AC in attached room making it uncomfortable in daytime. 9. 21 steep stairs to room. No elevator. They did warn us about this. 10. Many flies in restaurant. I believe a non experienced manager or owner runs this place who has never spent a night in the hotel or is living like hotel guests in the 1880's low end accommodations did. The front desk ladies were very nice. The remodel advertising is dead wrong. Very poor accommodations and grossly overpriced. Roger Hinds.
