This used to be one of my favorite stores to shop at whenever I would visit Manitou. Over the last few years, I've spent quite a bit of money there. Well, today ruined this store for me. I went in their with my friend, his daughter, my daughter, and my two nieces. The two women at the register heard me tell all of the kiddos when we walked in "now ladies, put your hands in your pockets, and don't touch anything." We were there less than five minutes when one of the ladies walked over and proceeded to watch all of us like a hawk. Especially all my girls. I felt COMPLETELY unwelcome and like a criminal. I told my friend that my girls and I were leaving because they're is no way I'm staying somewhere or shopping where the employees are going to treat me and my girls like thieves. I looked directly at the woman when I said it loud enough for her to hear, I grabbed my girls and we left. My friend and his daughter followed right behind. None that was with me or myself are thieves!! After reading the reviews, this kind of behavior seems to be common here. I understand watching for theft however, treating your customers like this is so rude, and bad for business. I like to shop peacefully and without a paranoid worker following me like it's a daycare. Sadly, my family and I won't be back, which is sad as I really loved this place. If you have children or teens with you, don't even bother because they'll do the same thing to you. Do better

Rude employees!! We bought a bunch of stuff and my kids bought geodes. An employee told them to put them in socks to break them so I paid and they ran outside, took their socks off and started breaking them, they're kids! All of them broke perfectly but my daughter's sock ripped and a tiny piece flew out and tapped the window. Employee "Olivia" walked out and yelled "really?" My husband said "it was a tiny piece and didn't crack the window, calm down", she then yelled "go somewhere". I went in to get her name and she was still being a smart a**. I don't appreciate being talked to crazy and it was outright disrespectful and an embarrassment to your store.

Very cool store but a creepy male employee was staring at me, my teen and preteen daughter and her friend the entire time; following us around the store. I get its a small company and watching for theft but vommon, be discreet about it. I ended up leaving buying anything because of how uncomfortable this was.Hi shop owner: I’m a middle age women who was decently dressed. I don’t need to steal your $2-$20 toys and neither do my kids. I will never be going back there. Your employee should stop creeping on young girls before he gets in trouble with one. Or was it racial profiling? Good luck with the theft but there are better ways to deal with it. I feel grossed out by this experience.

Mushroom Mondays is one of the coolest stores in Manitou. It has high quality merchandise you won't find anywhere else in town. The employees and owners are such lovely people. Very warm and welcoming and helpful too!

Pretty neat place I guess but wow. Both a random lady employee and the young woman at the register felt it appropriate to stare at, and follow my friends and I around the entire time we were there.(Mushroom Brad was cool, though. Hence the second star.)I can fully understand a level of concern for theft, but I draw the line at making me feel completely unwelcome in your store when we haven't done anything wrong. Big mood killer for our night out.Won't be coming back. :/

Overpriced knick knack store full of rude, helicopter employees that follow you around and are way too suspicious of theft. One lady watched us like a hawk, and asked multiple times if she could help us pick something to buy, or hold everything we touched up at the front for us. Not only was she nosey and obnoxious, but she was just plain rude. The girl working at the cash register also eyed us the whole time. They acted very unwelcoming, and even as if they just wanted us to just leave the store. Worst of all, they were especially suspicious of people of color. Don’t shop here!

Terrible employees. They unashamedly stalk customers while they shop, literally right over your shoulder. And they keep an especially close eye on people of color. Racist. These people clearly should not own a shop. Hope to see this place go out of business one day.

My boyfriend and I took my visiting sister in law, they are POC, to this store and upon entering we were each followed by a different employee (my lady had split ends...that's how close she was). I noticed this and grabbed my SIL to find my boyfriend to leave as it's clear we are not welcome to buy their cheap generic gifts and subpar fake jewelry. We are then followed *closely* by an unnecessarily loud older man with a cane but luckily quickly find my boyfriend and head toward the door and hear that abhorrent older man *yell* "CHECK THE CAMERAS". I hope these miserable people checked the cameras and felt as stupid as their "treat everyone (of color) like criminals" business model is.
If you check their other reviews on other sites you will see this isn't their first prejudice rodeo. Shop elsewhere, there are tons of other shops in manitou that have the same products that treated us like old friends when we walked in.
