Mike has always taken very good care of us and we have multiple entities that are sometimes difficult to keep straight due to many different family members involved. He is well informed on Florida tax laws which are much different than Colorado and always keeps us straight on our options as we have both.

Avoid at all costs!!!! Emmerson sent our information and bill to my husband's mother!!! We have been barely making ends meet during the pandemic. We were charged an outrageous amount of money ($1500) and he didn't even do what was asked of him.....UNETHICAL to say the least.

Been with these guys for a very long time. Last year's not so positive review, was due to tax laws. Also a little bit a lack of communication Always done a very good job on our behalf. Will continue doing business with the company.

I needed two years of returns done and was referred to this CPA while in country. I had urgent need to get them done as I had travelled in country to buy a home and needed to get them to my loan agent.
Was told the returns would take a few days. Took a few weeks and by then I decided to expand my search. So I didn’t think about the returns much.
After a few weeks I got an email saying my returns were ready and come pick them up. I had asked for .pdf files - in fact was adamant on that point. I had already left the state in the time it took him to prepare my documents.
I emailed a few more times over the month asking for the files and finally received a terse one line reply which in essence read “send payment”
I find that level of response RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL.
I had my elderly and very helpful mother drive over and she personally delivered a check.
After discussing the situation with my mother I realized they had not even given her the paper copies of the return at that point and certainly did not send me any adobe .pdf’s
It has now been 15 days with unanswered emails and phone calls producing NO results.
After 2 months I still do not hold a return in my hand.
This service was recommended to me by my mothers financial advisor and despite the negative reviews here I brought my business to this CPA.
I should not have - and neither should you.

Stay away! The first 3 years of my business I just trusted that people would do the job I hired them to do. This is a huge mistake in general but especially with Emmerson. During those 3 years I was promised many things none of them happened. If you are looking for any guidance stay away as they won't help you. He goes through accountants more than I change my underwear. Every time I would start to develop a relationship with one they would leave. Mike would not let me know they had left and that's when the real trouble would start... like my payroll taxes not getting paid. If you ever needed anything it would take usually a week for a reply and that's if you were lucky enough to even get one. I would often have to call and email all week long to get excuses like we sent the email. What are we in high school??? They did my bookkeeping, well that's what they said they were doing, at a rate of $300 a month. I never received a single report nor any sort of the promised guidance I got in the beginning. When I finally realized I was being had for my money and went and hired another bookkeeper I had to pay her over 25 hours just to clean up the mess he had left behind. Over the 3 years there was not a single correct entry in my quick books, many things were categorized in my taxes in places that would have actually landed me in a bind with the IRS. In the end when I simply did not want to give this man another penny of my money, but owed him $856, he refused to give me my 4th quarter reports and quick books file until he got paid. So... if you are looking for many head aches, a person who does not give two sh**t's about you, will just take your money for nothing, not return phone calls or emails and then lie about it, never take ownership of any sort, and finally ....prepare your taxes in a way that will eventually cost you a lot of money and get you in trouble with the IRS

Avoid at all costs! My tax returns had errors and need another accountant to fix them. In addition, they were running my payroll for three months, and failed to file the federal and state quarterly reports on time, which resulted in a hefty fine. The money you think you are saving using a bargain basement accountant like Mike Emerson and Associates is not worth it, you will end up paying twice as much as you would using a legitimate accountant and payroll service.
