I was pleasantly surprised at the level of detail I received when shopping at this location. I walked up to the service counter to ask about the difference between two items and the employee was very thorough in his answer and gave an A to B comparison and even gave a C option for a different part that he brought out from the back of the store. Friendly customer service, quick check out good prices and discounts if you sign up to become a member.

I've enjoyed being a member here, they do a great job of service work for you outdoor equipment. I have shopped every bicycle business in the area, REI is the only one I trust. They get the job done quickly, and never try and sell me things I don't need. I like the employees are always friendly!

We had the most pleasant experience looking for our new jackets. It's going to get cold here, and we found one for me. I also got a pair of snow pants along with hiking shoes! She is picky, and I'm glad she is... so she only picked out a pair of running shoes. We will definitely return for our coupons and other fun stuff soon! Can't wait!!!

I took my ski bindings in to be adjusted for my height, weight and skill level. They adjusted my ski to a Din of 5 which is way too low. Next powder day I went out, and both skis ripped off in the deep powder. I tore both my hamstrings which took months to heel. From now on I adjust my own bindings.

I will always give REI 5 stars because of their fair return policy and actual physical stores. If something doesn't work, or doesn't fit or you just don't like it....you can return it without any hassle. Other small retailers won't do this, and either won't take an item back or won't refund your money. I like doing business at REI.And the other reason for 5 stars is the brutally honest customer reviews on the REI web site that really give a full understanding of the item, not just a bunch of cheerleader fan type reviews.The staff at the Lakewood store is somewhat helpful, but don't expect mountain guide level knowledge or anything close. (To be fair it's about the same at all REI stores everywhere). Mostly part timers who know a little, so do your homework before you go in . Including reading the reviews!Once issue at REI is continued low availability of a lot of merchandise at the store level. It's also helpful to check online to see if your item is in stock at the Lakewood store, or another store in the general area.

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REEKS from the front door. Embarrassed to even say I've been a member of REI for the past 5 years. Don't even bother with this location, you'll spend half your life waiting for a sales associate, not to mention THEY WILL WATCH YOU WAIT.

I'm a fan of REI in general and this store didn't disappoint. Great selection, service and ample parking. Highly recommend becoming a member - it's worth the annual price and you get lots of perks. They have in store events as well and off site activities.
