I feel like they only wanted my money…my dog is perfectly fine and just needs some anxiety meds. Nothing crazy, but they think I need to take him to a behaviorist? That is crazy expensive and our pup is the sweetest boy we know. I was told he needs blood work for $140 which was to determine if he was okay for the meds. Everything checked out fine with his blood work, so I asked where can I get his prescription filled and the lady said that the Dr wants him to try the behavioral person first…so if I try to do that and it works and he doesn’t need meds then I paid an unnecessary $140 for blood work FOR THE MEDS. I’ll take my business elsewhere .i want to be in contact to whom ever that can handle this situation and get my money back

We moved to Highlands Ranch several years ago. Petco/Thrive was just across the street so we decided to try the Vet Clinic. We started off with the basic vaccine and wellness checks. My senior dog started to have some behavioral issues that were very disruptive during the night. I am not sure how many times my husband and I attempted to address the issue with one of the Vets. We were all struggling. She wasn’t able to get past her diagnosis of cognitive decline. Every time we addressed what was happening, she tried to sell us on a medication that costs $100.00 a month. I know my dog better than anyone and he had his wits. I disagreed. For the longest time we all suffered until his symptoms became worse. He also had a history of Vestibular attacks. I started doing research because we were desperate and needed to resolve or lessen his issues. I discovered that he was likely having seizures. I called and told her about what I thought and described newer symptoms. She finally started treating him. Since he was prescribed the anti-seizure medication he has been so peaceful. Oddly, the Vet did criticize me for using Google as a research platform. Due to all of our visits with him, the staff convinced us to sign up for their Vital Care program and they had also made the switch to Vetco Total Care. I lost a lot of faith in the clinic and Vets with the latter issue. My husband also had an issue with the same Vet. We brought our dog in for a soft tissue injury and the Vet wanted X-rays and a specialist review. My husband declined and they did it anyway and we were charged. We disputed it and requested a refund. With this process, we were banned from coming back to the Highlands Ranch office. Since we were part of the program and you cannot cancel for a year, we went to another location. A couple of the Vets were really good. Eventually the Vet at Highlands Ranch left. One of the staff at Villa Italia asked my husband why we came all the way out there. He told them. They said that the specific Vet left and we should be able to go back. So last week I made an appointment for my senior dog for an eye issue. He had been having pus. Long story short, they didn’t want us there. The Vet looked at his eye and prescribed eye ointment. Later that same day I got down and looked at his eye and I saw a bump that the Vet didn’t mention. Anyway they banned us from all of their locations now and didn’t even say why. What we concluded is that we were not profitable for them. We asked for paper scripts. Let’s face it…most prescriptions can be purchased at regular pharmacies for way less than the Vet markup. I have never had an issue with this until their clinic. Also, their clinic in our opinion was good for the basics…blood test, vaccines, and wellness checks but given their lack of connection and transparency with cost we never trusted them to complete any of the major procedures. We got sucked into the game with the coverage. I am looking forward to real connected care again. It has been too long. Having now read the other reviews, I know we are not the only ones who have had these experiences with them…the abuse of the animals review by the former employee is appalling.

We took our dogs to this vet for a while. Unfortunately at the Highlands Ranch location we did not have luck with the Vet. My senior dog suffered a long time because she was unable to think outside of textbook definitions for lack of a better wording. I had to do the research and figure out what was going on with my little guy. She was even upset and told me that I cannot use google for research. Then as previous people have stated, they used to do only verbal quotes for care and did not write anything down or obtain a signature. Then you go to pay and have a huge bill. My husband specifically requested that no X-rays and a review from a specialist be completed on a soft tissue injury. They did the X-rays and sent them out and charged us for all of it without authorization. We were banned from Highlands Ranch because we questioned their procedure and requested a refund. Several days ago I took my guy in for an eye issue. The Vet we had issues with left so another location told us we should be able to return. We made an appointment at Highlands Ranch this past weekend. They didn't want us there. People who are active in their animal care and educated are not welcome. The vet got down and looked at my dogs eye. My dog was treated for an eye infection. The same day, after the appointment, I got down to look at his eye and saw a lump at the corner of the eyelid. Vet didn't see it. I think it comes down to the fact that we are very active about our dogs care and not being charged for test we don't need so they can make a buck. Given their lack of Vet coverage I think they hire to staff and not to have quality care. I do not recommend going here at all. They have now banned us from all their clinics and haven't had the decency to say why.

Believe the bad reviews. This place has no professionalism and lies about availability so they have less to deal with. There’s a particular male who works the phones that should not be in customer service as he lies to the clientele. If you genuinely care about your pet, please take them elsewhere.
UPDATE: also realize their business “responses” are pretty much copy and paste responses.

I think the business model here has changed now that it is Vetco. It went from caring for animals to trying to extract as much money as possible from pet owners. I went for an annual vet visit and they pushed many unnecessary tests and vaccines and meds. The tech pushed so much stuff that I had a hard time trying to get out of there with only what is necessary. She should consider switching careers so the high pressure sales tactics get her more money for her efforts. Corporate must be pleased. They have this chart with a bunch of packages that they use for psychological manipulation to make you think you need things you don't need. Do not come here unless you know what you need or they will sell you everything. When I wasn't getting a bunch of stuff the tech recommend the lowest price "bundle" which is a senior package. $450 and my dog is 6. It's a bundle so it must be a good deal right? Know what you need or they'll sell you everything. I have been coming here for 5 and a half years but am going to go elsewhere in hopes that not all vet offices in the area are like this. One vet here told me I could switch my dog from proin to estrogen for certain reasons and she was awesome but I went to get the prescription a few days later after bloodwork and the vet there that day gave an opposite recommendation even though she has never spoken to me before or seen my dog and probably didn't review my dog's history. She made it seem like it is ridiculous to switch. Also, her reasons for not recommding it were
not very good. One of them was because I would have to be careful handling it. Um yeah, I just want what works for my dog. Now I have to figure out what to do with conflicting vet opinions while worrying about my dog leaking without going back vetco for all sorts of unnecessary tests that the 2nd vet probably wants instead of giving me a prescription for the estrogen . Maybe she should have told me to get w the first vet instead of telling me why she doesn't agree w her colleague. Maybe estrogen is not expensive enough for the new business model. My dog had to go to a doggy dentist at a 300 consult fee. (Not vetcos fault at all) Between that and the annual visit to vetco I spent six hundred dollars just this week. Would have been a lot more if I got all the unnecessary stuff the tech was pushing. A cleaning and fixing the teeth will put me over 3k and now I have to worry about the whole urinary incontinence medication thing and might have to hemorrhage more money trying to get my dog on the med the first vet recommended. I should have asked the 1st vet how to get prescription after the bloodwork but also maybe vetco should have told me instead of trying to take all my money. The answer definitely wasn't to go back to the clinic and ask. It's one thing if my dog really needs something but it's another to just to gouge people to make more $ for the clinic. And don't try reaching this office by phone because you get a 3rd party switchboard. The guy who works the front desk is awesome though. He's the best. The first vet was awesome too but doesn't seem to work there regularly or something because I couldn't just get the prescription for what she recommended. Maybe the clinic requires another office visit so they can get another office fee and will have another chance at high pressure sales. Also, be sure to read the review from about 6 months ago from the person who worked here for a couple of weeks.Vetco should remember, for every 1 person who says something (writes a review) there are at least 10 people that don't say anything and just never come back.

Do you like high pressure sales? This is the place for you. Do you like people who make fun of clients behind their backs? This place is for you. A lady who worked here 6 months ago quit because of the toxic environment. I took my pet here for 5 years but now that vetco has taken over and settled in it is not a good place. The new business model is to get as much money out of you as possible. The vet you see may or may not be there when you go back so if you need a prescription from one vet you better ask how to get the prescription later because whoever is there next time might not agree w the first vet's recommendation. That happened to me. Now I have conflicting opinions and no veterinarian for my dog. The tech will barely glance at your pet before trying to sell you services, meds, and vaccines your pet doesn't need. Know what you need before you come here unless you can afford to waste a lot of money.

I've been using Vetcos in Colorado for three years, mainly for vaccinations without any issues. But recently, I took my limping dog to the Highlands Ranch Vetco, and it was a nightmare. The vet's communication was confusing, and after paying $500 for an x-ray, we were left waiting for results. Meanwhile, my dog's condition worsened, and they didn't call us back for a week, even when my husband and I had made over 5 phone calls. Also, know the phone number listed for this specific clinic will automatically route you to a call center. When they finally did, the vet claimed to have discussed the x-ray results earlier, which wasn't true. The lack of communication skills and delayed responses make me regret trying to cut corners. If your pet needs urgent care, don't go to Vetco. Look for a local vet where they care about the community and treat your whole family, including your pet, with respect.

Their follow up/communication is not very good. I wish I could talk to a person at the vet since I was just there but you have to talk to a person off site who relays the message for you and then you wait for a response back within 24-48 hours. I have not received a follow up email with my pets visit notes. It has the prescription for my pet and I can’t not pick it up without it. It has been 2 days since. The vet itself is good, they have watched over my cat for a year now. Not sure if their staff has changed a bit which may be causing these delays but it’s a little frustrating.

We have seen the practice grow over these years, but the small clinic feel is at it’s core. They pay attention to you and your pet, “where everyone knows your name’’ atmosphere.
