The baggers put all the cans and juices into single bags too heavy for seniors to lift and cause hardships for Instacart shoppers as well. The handles break off your bags. We spend a lot of money at your store. We deserve better. We're going back to Kings

My rating might suggest mediocrity—so allow me to provide some context. Because this mediocre is but the mean of two people anything but average.
This evening, Sunday May 26, I walk into the store at 10:47PM. I’m ‘greeted’ by a woman whose name I wish I had taken the time to get. The greeting was not: “Hello sir, I hope you’re having a fine evening! Just so you know, we will be closing promptly at 11pm.” Rather, it was: “Sir, we close in 5 minutes” said by a woman with a stony face and resentful tone. I told this woman that I was fully aware of the present time and of the store’s approaching close. I further told her that the store was not, in point of fact, closing in 5 minutes, but rather in 13 minutes. Rather than admit her obvious exaggeration when confronted with fact, she doubled down on her patently false assertion and made clear that I had all of 5 minutes to gather my groceries and kindly get the blank out. Not wishing to argue with someone for whom reason held no sway, I told her coldly that I would need only 3 minutes.
Mason, the young man working the front with her, was obviously in an uncomfortable situation, and tried to support his co-worker while also acknowledging what I had said. And though Mason’s coworker’s behavior spoke for itself and was indefensible, I respect this young man’s attempt toward judicial resolution.
3 minutes later, I was back with my groceries in tow. The time was now 11:50pm. I told the woman that I did not appreciate her rude treatment, which was rather obviously based on her assumption that I had entered the store with neither a sense of the proximity to closing time nor an ounce of respect for the employees who would surely be forced to endure the unspeakable inconveniences of my selfish senselessness. She was further cold and disrespectful, and said that it was I, and not she, who had been rude. And she walked off.
The thing is, it was only because of my respect for just such employees as she and Mason that I knew the exact time when I walked into that store; and it was only because of my wish to not cause undue stress and inconvenience to those employees (borne of that same aforementioned respect) that I knew the precise time I would need to gather my groceries, as I had planned my course through ahead of time.
Mason was kind, probably kinder than I deserved after I unfairly directed some of my frustration at him. Mason, thank you for doing your best to take responsibility for your co-worker’s utter disrespect and disgrace and for understanding and empathizing with my resulting frustration.
5 stars for Mason, a young man with maturity beyond his years, who gives me hope for this next generation; 0 stars for that disgraceful, resentful woman—whose attitude and behavior epitomize so much of what ails humanity—with whom young Mason had the poor fortune of working alongside in those 13 minutes prior to closing time on this evening of Saturday May 26th. 2.5 stars, the mean of equal parts great and awful, for the store—choosing to weigh the good over the bad, I rounded up: 3 stars.

It's always great. They have what I'm needing and I'm in and out quickly

I've been shopping here for years and prices recently have gone absolutely out of control. 11.99 for a 3 pack of velveeta shells and cheese. Almost $8 for a pound of italian sausage. I'll go out of my way to shop at Walmart when it's half the price they want.

This is now my new favorite grocery store! I have been searching the city for unique foods to sample prior to a food sensitivity test. Now, I have not been a fan of Safeway stores to date, but not only was this particular store HUGE, and containing a very sufficient organic selection as well as unique foods selection, but also, even despite a staffing shortage, they answered the phone right away and walked over to the produce area to confirm they had a unique product I was looking for in stock and in good condition…and this also happened to have been during the evening rush! So grateful I found this store…it’s worth going out of my way for sure!

Sold me essentially 6 month expired salad dressing. Almost everything I buy from here ends up being expired! And the last several times I've been every beef item in the meet department I picked was wrapped so badly that they were ripped open on the top and leaking every where from the bottom. So disgusting getting raw meat on my hands when I'm trying to shop for groceries.

Okay, now I don’t know about all Safeway’s but I truly hope that if you love that small town everyone knows everyone and the staff even remember you. Then you are going to appreciate this store. The shelves are full and the staff is amazing and everyone just seems to slow down a little , people just seem to go back to a time when this was the norm. Not one bad thing to say. Know matter your income level or your position in life matters. It’s just kinda like cheers the sitcom but a grocery store.

Safeway is my grocery store of choice! I am really hoping this merger does not go through because I'm not a big fan of King Soopers. Safeway has better quality on meats, Dairy, and produce. Their app is easy to unlike King Soopers.

Terrible store, poorly run. Items go on sale then aren't in stock. Digital coupons don't always work. Call the number on the receipt for problems with them and they tell you to go back to the store. I just love making 2 trips. Not gonna shop here any more.

I come here a lot and typically like this place but the little old Hispanic lady working self checkout is obnoxious. My daughter and myself walk up to self checkout as she rushes over to input a customer survey while we’re checking out. Then proceeds to grab the items out of my hands to scan. I’m very capable of scanning my items but I appreciate it. I also don’t need her to repeatedly tell me to enter my phone number; I got this. I know how this works. She needs to back off. I get how companies these days base employee performance off of surveys and I’m sure here job has been threatened because of lack of said surveys. That’s the way to explain this behavior. It needs to stop. It’s very rude and disruptive. Let your guests check out and let your employees do their jobs.

Really clean, nicely presented store with very helpful and kind employees. Best selection of prepared foods of the grocery stores in the area! You can find a lot of healthy and unique items here that are difficult to find elsewhere.
