We visit your store quite often, not only because of the customer service and home town feel, but because you carry items the big box stores don't. I have lived in Grand Junction my entire life and have never been treated in such a manner. We walked into the store and was immediately told that I had to leave my purse at the front desk. It is not a large purse, a shopping bag, or a backpack, but a woman's purse. There was no explanation as to why, but that the gal at the counter would watch my purse. I responded that I would not and that I would no longer shop there and walked out. When I called to inquire as to what was going on, I was told by the manager that this was now a store policy and I had to either leave my purse in the car or at the front desk due to the increase in thefts at the store. Let's just make ALL customers pay for the crimes of others. Next you will be asking customers to not wear jackets or pants because they have pockets. You have lost my business!

Everyone knows that things cost more right now. There is general inflation in everything currently. However, some businesses have taken this as a sign to charge even more than what they should. I've been shopping at this store for many years. It's always been a marginal store because of the prices. The support staff is usually top-notch but I went to the store yesterday to get some self tapping metal screws. I was shocked when I found them because they were listed at $.75 each! It would have cost me a great deal more to do the job than what I planned. I decided that couldn't be right and tried to find staff to ask. At that time, I couldn't find anyone, so I left and went down the street. At Lowes, I got a box of 20 identical screws for less than $7! Inflation is here and is something that most of us have no control over. The price gouging going on at Tru Value is not inflation, it's greed.

Needed some metric parts that the big box did not have. Great selection and shows what a real hardware store has in stock.

I use these stores alot and with the exception of price being. Lil higher than I think they should be I would recommend them to anyone who doesn't want to travel to the big box stores on the west side of the valley.

The small engine repair shop attached to this True Value is a joke. The customer service is terrible, and it seems as if the guy Brian that works there doesn't know what he is doing. What should have been a basic lawn mower service, turned into just over three weeks of him not lifting a finger to do anything on the lawn mower. I picked it up without them doing a single thing to it. Then they had the audacity to try and keep my $50 deposit. When they told me that I wasn't going to get my deposit back, I asked them what they did in order to keep it. Brian could not answer this question and acted as if he was going to go ask a manager. After a few more minutes, Brian came back and told me that they decided to give me back my deposit and to take my business elsewhere in the future, as if I would ever shop there again after this incident. I would recommend avoiding this place like the plague!

Most of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable I thought I had found a hidden gem especially compared to the big box box stores. Went in to buy a section of pipe recently they had a remenant in the back that was a foot and a half long I said great what do I owe you. The attendant said he would have to charge me for two feet. To which I responded I hadn't asked him to cut it to 18 inches and if your going to sell something by the foot it should be by the foot. I suggested pro rating the price for a foot and a half. He then responded that the store would sooner throw the extra half foot in the garbage rather than pro rate the price for me as it was not their policy. I'll admit it had been a long week at work and I wasn't in the best mood but it definitely felt like I was nickeled and dimed. Maybe he was having just as bad a week as I was but frankly the simple country charm of the store wore off in a hurry when he claimed he couldn't give me a fair price because of store policy he sounded just like every other big box store that has lost touch with it's customer base at that point. Kind of a shame thought I had found something great. Might give them another shot but, I won't be buying bulk material there though as it was a joke.
