Was going to say how unstable this women is and how she hoards cats in unfit living conditions. And uses the company to have "power" in her life by deeming good household's unfit for her own crazy reasons. But that's already been said enough here. Going to the health/business department. Don't support this company. Also the good comments are from workers. This place is sham.

BEWARE! If you own a dog in your household, these cat hoarders will not let you adopt. Don't waste your time or energy trying to adopt one if the 300 cats here. This place is a sad sad experience and I feel so bad for all the wonderful cats that have been there for over 2 years which is over half of them. I ended up going to Grand River Humane Society and adopted a kitten from them and they were wonderful over there.

I'm so disappointed in this organization. Wanted to adopt a kitty due to a recent loss of a pet. Went on Saturday and was greeted with the worst customer sevice imaginable. Just recieved news that my application was denied because I have never owned a cat and because I use a walker cats can "tripping hazards", even though I have owned many animals and been just fine. I feel bad and concerned for the cats there that won't ever be adopted because the hoarder owners wont let them go. Don't waste your time and effort go somewhere else.

The employees of this joke of a place belittled my family after denying the application. The were rude, judgmental, and did not exercise any respect to a woman more than capable of caring for her cats. I very much recommend you find a different place to adopt a cat and steer clear of them.

I had a terrible experience with CLAWS. I adopted a cat that had behavioral issues and needed a home with more people and pets so it would feel at home. It cried most of the night, tried jumping on the hot stove repeatedly and ate most of my plants. I had asked for help from CLAWS but they only suggested that I play music for the cat at night. Needless to say, I had to return the cat and was shamed for not putting up with the behavior for as long as it took (they said three months or so). I asked if I could get my money back and I was told that I had signed away my right for a refund when I applied for the adoption. I asked if I could adopt another cat and was told that out of the 90+ cats that they had, none would be a good fit for me at that time but maybe in a few months.I left feeling bewildered. I later asked for proof of what I had signed, but there was no response and nothing on their website backed up this claim. Then I asked to have my money returned to me, but once again I was never responded to.I should have done my due diligence and looked into this place before I adopted a cat - this was a terrible experience and I hope that they will do the right thing and refund my money.

Watch out for this organization! I rescued a small stray cat because she was being bullied by other strays. I took her to CLAWS and in order for them to take her they wanted a $100 donation. Are you kidding me. Since when did a rescue demand a person to donate before they'd take in a animal that needed them. I wound up paying $60 and a volunteer paid the other $40. I tried to do a kind thing for a creature in need only to be held up for money. The woman didn't care that the cat would be forced to be in the cold and picked (we have a large dog who hates cats) on since I wasn't going to be paying a $100 I don't have. The $60 hurt bad enough. Do not use this place unless you are willing to pay their demand.

I attempted to adopt from a local pet store, however, after nearly a week of waiting for an application response, we ended up withdrawing our application and adopting from the local humane society. I fully understand being short staffed, or lack of volunteers. However, there a ton of loving families who would like to take in these loving cats and unfortunately they're stuck in cages with no family love because they deny every application or don't even respond to their applications. It's one thing to be short staffed and or lacking in volunteers, but at what point do you finally stop and see you're doing more harm than good to these little ones who are in need of families . If you can't successfully run a business that take care of living things , then maybe it's time for a career switch or retirement! STOP BEING SELFISH!

the most unorganized and honestly unhealthy rescue in the area. there are so many sweet kitties here who need homes. the staff is incredibly rude really do not care about the well-being of the animals in their care. I say this because the website only shows roughly 20-30 cats. The property itself holds over 100 cats. This shelter is almost categorized as a hoarding situation. I fell in love with a cat here and the shelter “manager” denied me with no reasonable cause. many of the reviews also say the same thing. i truly cried my eyes out to this shelter on the phone asking for somewhat of an explanation as to why I was unable to adopt from their shelter. no explanation was given. Recently I talked to a pet store in town about this organization. This pet store disclosed that they aim to take cats from this organization and sell the cats within their own shops because the rescue is incapable and improper. If you have a similar experience, please don’t feel alone. I have waited moths to tell the truth, I hope this place finds itself under new ownership. The animals in the care of this shelter deserve SO much better. I am disgusted by this rescue.

I also completed an application for a cat and was denied due to a dog. This organization wants references and obviously don't check them. I think for as many cats as they have and the transparency people use completing their ridiculously long application they would want their kitties to have fur ever homes. Go somewhere else. Think they may be cat hoarders verses rescuers. Poor kitties.

I have always supported CLAWS and donated food to them when they held events around town. My husband and I decided we wanted to add another cat to our clan. I have had cats my entire life, and one cat I got when I was a kid is now 20 and still thriving. CLAWS denied my application because we have a Border Collie/Cattle Dog. Not asking if she worked on a farm or had herding tendencies. Just Denied. The least they could do is meet the other animals of the household, or ask more indepth questions. I honestly don't know how anyone in this Valley will be able to adopt a cat with their rules and requirements. I understand making sure the cat is safe and cared for, but I wouldn't be trying to adopt if I thought my dog was going to injure the cat. They also mentioned that because my already two cats were indoor/outdoor that would be a problem. Cats have a right to roam and not be cooped up in a house 24/7. Quite unfortunate. Good luck to anyone trying to adopt.

My family and I attended a cat adoption event to meet cats after we filled out an application. We were in no rush to pick a cat, we’re all about picking the right one rather than age.Towards the end of the hour that we spent there meeting some lovely cats, one of the staff informed us that we would not be eligible for a cat due to us having a dog. They also stated they got our vet records.I never gave them a release of information to get the vet records of our dog. I understand if they need to get them, but it did not say anywhere on that form that they needed a release to get that information. The staff seemed concerned that our dog had only been seen once at this vet. Had we known they needed a release for their information, I would have informed them we recently switched vets and would’ve been happy to give them the other records. They need to put on their form that people fill out to inquire about adoption that they need a release to contact their vet. That is the law. Also, if they are not going to accept ANY homes that have dogs, then I would greatly recommend that they put that on their website and on their form. They ask throughout the application about current animals you have along with multiple choice questions about other dogs and cats in your home.I can understand if you are only going to give cats to cat only homes. Put it on your form so that no one goes through the process of filling it out, having information taken from a vet to someone I don’t know and didn’t talk to me personally, and coming to events to meet cats.We love animals, dogs and cats, and your staff made us feel like we were silly for even considering bringing a cat into our dog home. She also made up information about our dog, stating we put on the form that our dog had never been around cats and was aggressive with them, which is far from the truth. Our dog has grown up with cats since she was a puppy.I also sent this in an email to the staff and never received a response. Good organizations accept constructive criticism and respond. Will not go here again

The people at Claws really care about all the cats. This is a great place to find your new friend.

If you own a dog, or have cats already that have access to indoor outdoor, Claws will deny your application. Just a forewarning to anyone getting their hopes up to adopt a cat. Lie on your application if you want any chance.

Sounds like Miranada Cloer's kid showed she is bad with cats and they said no for adoption and then you proved them right by being a weirdo on top of it.

Extremely unprofessional. They have so many babies that need good homes, yet they will approve an application then rip the carrier out of an 11 year old girls hands and say no as you are going to walk out.We went through a very thorough application process. Interviews, etc. We were adopting a kitty as a Christmas present for our 11 year old daughter. I took her to Claws after being approved and we spent almost 2 hours picking out the perfect kitty to take home. 2 team members helped us. One lady walked in at one point and told us we couldn’t just walk around. After two other team members told us we could. She finally picked out her soon to be best friend to take home (we would have taken them all if we could) and one team member helped us get him in the carrier and ready to go. The same rude blonde lady said “I’m going to stop you right there. The process is a pre approval. Not a full approval. I make the final call and I cannot let you take one home. You have 3 dogs and a doggy door.” I mentioned we already have a kitty and she does fine when we keep the doggy door shut and I’d never get another if I knew my dogs were aggressive with them. “Nothing I can do” and proceeded to give me a long drawn out story about two employees fighting and quitting that did not correlate to my situation. I asked if there was anything we could do because my daughter was already invested and super excited. “Nope. Sorry.” As she rips the carrier out of her hands. She was a blonde lady. Fake long fingernails. Super rude the entire experience.I hate kitties/animals not having a home and she made it nearly impossible. I’ve spoke to nearly 10 people that have had the same experience with this same woman. She should find a different job if she can’t treat people… especially kids… with respect and kindness.I will never recommend this place as long as she works there which is super unfortunate for a nonprofit that’s sole mission is to find these sweet babies a good home.
