I came to Golden CO from Minnesota on Vacation July 4th 2018. My AC was not working good so I called around and everyone was booked out 1-2 weeks. I stopped at John's at 3:00 PM on Friday and he said the thing may need charging. Besides that he had a guy out on vacation. I explained my problem, and he moved a vehicle and pulled mine in. He evacuated tested and recharged my AC put dye in, and it's been working well ever since! John went out of his way on a hot Friday afternoon for me and I appreciate that. O by the way he didn't overcharge me either!

John is personable, professional, the process is simple, the work is completed as outlined, and is ready on the day as indicated. There is pride in their work, which you do not often see in other entities such as dealerships, franchises. I appreciate that it is locally owned, independent, and the numerous 5-star reviews. I go above-and-beyond, the extra mile, head-and-shoulders above the required minimum maintenance schedule written in the manuals of our vehicles. I have read every line of them, sometimes sit for an hour on forums reading recommendations otherwise, and then review the material in a spreadsheet of tasks completed, products used, and future, slated, work. From 2017 to 2022 only one mechanic ever worked on our vehicles, including oil changes, wheel alignments, brake pads, among other work. He has a technical mastery of our cars. Due to having twins, wife needed to move, I lost him. Enter panic. But, great news -- I was so pleased with John that I now found a new mechanic. Highly recommend this entity. And, his pricing is highly competitive though I will pay extra for higher quality work.

John’s place is transparent, communicative, and always does great work! Knew this place was the one when I took my car in with a steering rack issue that was going to take over a grand to fix. John let me know it wasn’t an emergency and allowed me to feel comfortable taking the time to save up some cash for a repair. He even suggested some things I could do to hold my car over until til we replaced the rack. He will always call you with you car's diagnosis and what his plan and suggestions are before doing anything to your car and is happy to do a price breakdown for you. Highly recommend!

I've been going to John's automotive for years now, ever since my grandfather introduced me to his services. John and his son are honest, hardworking people and I wouldn't take my family's vehicles anywhere else.

Best shop in town. John took care of my civic all the way to the end of its life. When many shops in Golden were quick to quote me $1,800-2,400 for a repair, John solved my issue with a conversation and a $5 bottle of fluid. One of the many downsides of no longer living in CO is losing my barber and my mechanic.

car would not start, electronic issue, Toyota dealership said it would cost 2500.00 John fixed it for 420.00.

I was looking for a local place to get an estimate on some mechanical needs for my Subaru Forester. John's was the last of the four places I called for quotes and he was by far the best and also just seemed the most knowledgeable. Not only that, but what they discovered to be the problem, was not even what the dealership service department thought and quoted. They not only saved me nearly $2500, but they also actually fixed the issue.I would not hesitate to take my vehicles there. They are super knowledgable, amazing service, committed and stand by their work, and really easy to work with and accommodating.

John is an honest guy and knows his stuff. I can only speak for domestic vehicles, but John's usually able to tell me what's wrong over the phone before even seeing the vehicle. I've had my vehicle there multiple times and it's always been returned in good working order at or under the promised cost and on time. I try to do a fair amount of work on my vehicle myself but usually take it to these guys for bigger things and definitely recommend them.
