Just happened to discover this gallery and was thrilled. I purchased a photo for my grandson for Christmas and my daughter couldn't have been more pleased. It was perfect. I also picked up some hardback books for my grandchildren for Christmas by a local Colorado author and the books were a hit! Super friendly owner, who is also the photographer and his talent is outstanding. I cannot recommend his work enough. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Very pleasant place, with some great artwork to give it a comfortable and welcoming ambience. We were immediately welcomed by the owner and were able to sit down immediately. To top it off, the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend stopping in when you're in town.

We visited the gallery today, as well as many other shops. I almost bought one of the hummingbird feeders which were supposed to be "handpainted" by artists from Evergreen, CO. I noticed it had a wrap on the outside of the glass feeder. I asked if we are supposed to remove it after purchase and he said we are supposed to leave it on. As I studied the feeder closely, I could see the dots were printed on that wrap, so I began to question if the columbine flowers were truly painted on the glass. I found a hummingbird that was part of the glass and saw where the plastic lifted over it...and so did the flowers printed on the plastic. I told him about it and he just said, "oh."

We were wandering up & down the Main st when the owner/photographer (Gary Haines) invited us in out of the cold even though he wasn't open, just doing the books. We found a fascinating Gallery full of wonderful prints & shots and spoke to Gary about his work & things in general. Talk about a varied career but jumped from Fire Chief to his love of photography ! And that shows in his work on display ! My wife bought a few small items and we will remember that day every time we look at them, well worth a drop in when in Georgetown CO.

I covet just about everything in Thomas D. Mangelsen's Brekcenridge, CO gallery. Can't afford any of it, though. So, I keep an eye out for talented and cheaper photographers. Today I decided to head a little ways into the mountains to check out supposedly Victorian Georgetown just off I70. The historic district, while small, does have charm. It's worth the detour. After scoping out the shops I was immediately drawn to Grizzly Creek Gallery. To my surprise, the guy helping the people already in the shop was the owner/photographer Gary Haines. (Good luck running into Mangelsen at one of his galleries.) He's warm and friendly, has some great work and (best of all) he's got some reasonable prices. He's also a local. Support Colorado artists! After selecting a print it turned out he's also an expert framer. Ever been to Fast Frame? Wow, expensive! Even Hobby Lobby adds up quick. Gary framed the print in a gorgeous barn wood frame (he gets them from a friend in South Dakota) for less than Hobby Lobby's ordinary boring stuff. Thanks, Gary! Will be back on a regular basis to check out your new work.
