For an animal shelter, the Summit County Animal Control facility is by far one of the best I’ve ever visited. The facilities are modern and the grounds are well kept.The staff here genuinely love what they do, whether it’s as a full-timer or volunteer.These workers convey their job satisfaction and make the difference for the animals through the care their actions convey.Rest assured that the well being of each animal under care is guaranteed.I’m absolutely convinced that it’s this care combined with the brightness of the facility that gives rise to the smiling faces of those families there to pick out or pick up their latest addition to their family…their shelter-pet!If you want a pet and can care for it, get down to the Summit County Animal Shelter. You’ll be glad you did.

We had such a positive experience. Everyone is so helpful and understanding. All the animals are in good health, and the outdoor kennels are big and clean. Inside the rooms are clean and smell nice. We found the perfect dog for our family here.

We recently adopted a wonderful dog from SCACS. We were able to visit with Zowie Jack (formerly Jackson) first and get to know him. After he had his medical reviews done and was declared happy and healthy, we made him ours. We found the shelter staff and volunteers we encountered to be wonderful people; friendly, informative, knowledgeable. The shelter itself appeared well organized and very clean. They do animal adoption right! I highly recommend them if you are looking to add a furry friend to your life.

We observed a porcupine in a public area. Being concerned for its safety. We called animal control to ask them what to do about it.After asking questions about apparent injury or abnormal behavior, they directed us to simply let the animal be.

The shelter here is amazing! They take such good care of the pets. Got our rescue kitty here a few years ago and she is so sweet. Love that they do a community exchange for animal supplies so people can drop off any unused animal supplies or pick up what they need for free.
