I recently started using Dr. Amy Yohe for my horse. I've been very impressed with her, she is knowledgeable, kind and listens to my ideas as well. Highly recommend her.

When is it ok for a vet to refuse aid to an extremely sick pet or a pet that will die that day without care? You might think it's never ok but vets have a choice. They don't follow the oath of human doctors to do no harm. They come up with rules when they will refuse care at the most critical time of your pets life. Since they deal.with life and death I would think you can't just have canned rules like a restaurant that refuses you service. With a restaurant you can just find somewhere else to eat but with a vet it is will they be ok to let your pet die? I feel a good vet for me is one that would think long and hard about the circumstances of the situation if there rule is more important than your pets life. Not one that would prefer your pet die than break their rule. The Animal Clinic is a vet that feels their rules trump any situation including care to an extremely sick or dying pet. No remorse. Carry on with their day.
Not just an individual vet but all of the clinic partners and the girl I talked to in the office. You need to know this because you never know when you will find yourself in a situation, helpless to aid your extremely sick or dying pet and find out you broke a rule and they are OK that your pet will die without their care.
I was referred to this vet because my existing vet quit emergency mobile services. I have to have mobile emergency because I have horses and goats. When these animals get sick they are usually laying down and you can't move them because they are heavy and because it adds further stress which could end up killing them. Any large vet worth their salt knows this. So any vet that refers you to CSU for a horse or cow or goat that is on their side in pain and kicking is not a good vet. CSU only accepts animals that come to them and you can't move or transport large sick animals not standing up. I set up an acct with the Animal Clinic and made an appt for bloodwork on my goat. I even talked to Dr Downey about what blood work I wanted. Nobody said anything about me already having an acct. The Saturday before my appt my goat went into distress. She was crying, laying on her side and kicking. We called the emergency number but by the time they returned the call she seemed better. Then Sunday at 8 she was back down and we texted the emergency number. 2 hours later they call back and said they were busy on emergencies and it would be awhile. Then he called and said our acct is inactive so he can't come. We told him we have an appt Wednesday how could the account be inactive? His response was the girl never should have made the appointment. It's been inactive for 10 years. 10 years?! I don't think even Italians hold a grudge that long. It was so long ago we don't even remember using them. He said there is nothing I can do you for you. Which means to me your pet will die and I will go about my day and not give you and your family with a dying goat a second thought. All because 10 years ago we did something they didn't like but they don't know what it was. Nobody knows why it says do not service but there's a note and that's good enough for them. This vet doesn't know us. But there's a note and that trumps our dying pet, on a Sunday, and it can't be moved to take somewhere and there may not be someone else to help us. My pet is dead to them and apparently so are we. I did call the next day and was told he had checked with ownership and they said rule trumps let the pet die. She did not know what the problem was but said in July of 2014 they fired us. She said they take notes now but not back then. She said I used their services 5 times in July 2014 She said the last visit they didn't collect and I didn't pay until December so that must be why they fired you. I can't tell you how many times she included in the conversation we were fired. But not once did she ask if my pet lived.
He suggested to call Living Springs - they don

This is the best clinic I’ve ever been to. I had a couple emergencies with my dog and a few days later my cat went into distress. They are not an emergency clinic, but they took such good care of me and my pets. My cat died at the clinic, and if they hadn’t let me bring him in he would have died on the drive to the pet ER. The staff is wonderful, kind and compassionate.

I've been coming here for almost 5 years now I believe. Dr. Spangler is an amazing vet. Very intune and passionate about their job. My husky, Mishka, use to come here due to her diabetes but unfortunately, my baby girl passed away at home. In a blink of an eye she was gone. I don't really remember much of that morning, therapist calls it traumatic dissociation.
.
My other baby, Jet, Mishka's little brother, hasn't been the same. His seperation anxiety has skyrocketed. I've had to come home from work every now and then to calm him down. Now I have to rely on Gabapentin to keep him calm.
.
the vets are very understanding about this situation and I'm thankful for that.
So thank you, everyone, for being so informative and passionate about your job, we pet owners greatly appreciate you, Mishka did, and so does Jet.

Too much “guess” work coming from the large animal vet side. They should hit the books more, or shadow more experienced vets before they are let loose onto customers properties without a clue.
