If I could give this place a zero I would. Fort Collins 4x4 should not be allowed to do any kind of car maintenance at all! From the moment I walked in, I should have walked out considering no one even greeted me or said hello. Red flag. The guy I worked with didn’t even seem like he wanted to be there. Did not have a pleasant attitude. Anyways, I went in because my engine light was on, my car kept going into limp mode, and was having camshaft sensor issues. I have a Jeep Cherokee. I even brought in my code report from Auto Zone to show the cam sensor is what pulled up. This place had NO IDEA what they were doing. On the initial diagnosis they said they looked it over and had no recommendations but I was still weary so I made them double check. Of course they said they were going to charge me double for looking at it again so I paid $400 for an unreliable diagnostic. They came back and said it was still fine, but provided me a list of other repairs and maintenance they recommended instead. They said they test drove it and couldn’t get the limp mode to duplicate. Turns out, my car was not fine! As soon as I drove my car off their lot my engine light came back on and my car continued to go into limp mode. So, to me, they didn’t test drive it far enough. It was going into limp mode every 10-15 miles. So then they said to bring it back. I didn’t trust them at this point so I took it to Longmont Prestige instead. Longmont was so awesome, friendly, and identified my issues in a heartbeat (and after only one diagnostic) and fixed everything in a day - $3,000 later. The stark differences in repair recommendations is what baffles me. I had an oil leak that was dripping into the camshaft and sensors that then went into the radiator causing my Jeep to freak out and go into limp mode constantly. The engine was overheating and trying to protect itself. The fact that FC 4x4 didn’t spot any of that after two diagnostics by their technicians is what leads me to believe they have no idea what they are doing. Now, thanks to Prestige, my car drives great and is like new again. I knew my car was having issues that made me scared to even drive it and it’s upsetting how this place didn’t even care and didn’t have the ability to fix my car, and still charged me $400 for nothing. On a side note, one of the estimates on one repair they gave me was almost 3x what the dealership was going to charge me. So please avoid this place for car repairs or maintenance. Don’t waste your time or money like I did.

Fort Collins 4x4 came highly recommended to us when we had an issue with our Toyota Sienna. The team there was super personable and demonstrated their technical expertise right off the bat. We had previous taken the van into another local shop and they weren’t able to identify the root cause of the shaking in the steering wheel at high speeds, and ultimately didn’t fix the issue. The team at Fort Collins 4x4 quickly narrowed down the likely cause to be a bent wheel, and after further testing confirmed that to be the root cause. They offered multiple options to fix with either an OEM wheel, or aftermarket option and were able to get everything fixed quickly and with excellence.
We found it difficult to find a trustworthy, highly proficient, and fair-priced mechanic and Fort Collins 4x4 has definitely earned our future business.
We recommend you check them out the next time you have any car maintenance needs!

I'm not one to write a bad review but I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone. I took my truck in to have my struts and shocks replaced and while they did install them, it was the worst craftsmanship I've ever experienced from any mechanic, it's a simple job. They over torqued nuts, scratched and scuffed new shocks, and didn't even bolt everything together! Once brought up to the owner himself, he didn't seem to really care about the poor quality his shop puts out. This was the first and last time they ever touch my truck. My first hint should've been that they could get me in quick. Unfortunately I needed the work done before a trip and Bullhide was booked out 3 weeks (for a reason, they do amazing work and always have). Now I get to scramble days away from a trip to fix their mistakes. I knew I should've just found the time to do it myself, not only would I have saved myself time but money too.
Reply: As I told you in person, the scratches are purely cosmetic and honestly I couldn’t care less. Just thought you should tell your guys to be more careful with customers property. They were new still in the box from the factory. The box was only opened by me to verify they were the ones I ordered. If you would like, I can send photos of those and the other sway bar end link (not the one that you didn’t bolt down) that you guys rounded off. Also, I never asked you for a refund. I told you It was ridiculous I paid for a service that was a complete waste of my time and money. You guys have done enough, I’ve paid my stupid tax.

Highly recommend Fort Collins 4x4, as I have great respect for the way they do business. Appreciate their quality, honest approach and the integrity they have exercised working on my SUV. Impressed with both the special suspension work they’ve done for me, as well as the routine maintenance. I’ve seen both the owners and the staff operate in a really upstanding way. So glad to have a shop I can trust!

Can't recommend these guys enough! I had my jeep and my Ford SUV repaired.
They are almost more of a consulting service then a mechanic. You will always get true non salsey advice and they will go above and beyond.
Shanhon spent hours locating parts for my jeep which was a huge help. Can't say enough good things about them.

I had gone to at least three other places to try to help fix my car. All of the other places I went to were either rude, unhelpful or everything above. (My car death wobbled when braking) The folks here went above and beyond, and when I got my car back, they had even fixed my windshield wipers! I can’t imagine taking my car anywhere else

I’m 100% satisfied with my recent experience at Fort Collins 4x4. I was a bit nervous to have a lift kit installed on my 2021 GMC Sierra that required cutting and welding on my crossmember. All around they were very professional, polite, punctual and understanding of my concerns. I appreciate their dedication to their work, really feels like they love what they do for a living. Which is rare these days. Truck turned out great, Thanks Fort Collins 4x4 Crew!
