June 2023 by Jeremy Aggerbeck
I recently was going through the interview process for the assistant chief engineer position available for CBRE who is contracted to Broadcom's fort Collins location for maintenance and building engineering.I went to a total of 4 interviews throughout a month span and the first 3 interviews were handled by the Chief engineer, The facility manager for CBRE, and a senior facility manager with CBRE. These 3 interviews went amazing, and it looked as if we were moving forward with the position, but I needed to still meet with someone from Broadcom. My last interview took place on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, and was scheduled with Broadcom's senior facility manager. The interview did not go well. The senior facility manager for Broadcom was very rude, unprofessional, and said things that made me believe that Broadcom is a hostile place to work.I was degraded to an extent that I never have been before. I was told that I was uneducated due to there being small typos in my resume and was demanded I give an answer for GPA in high school. My GPA from school 12 years ago has absolutely nothing to do with my experiences and accomplishments as a building engineer, operator, and an assistant chief engineer. All accomplishments I spoke about that day were disregarded as “easy” and “simple” by him. Unfortunately, I was told that this is just the “culture” of the relationship with this specific client. It is not a culture I want to be a part of.I feel my fate of this interview was already decided by the guy because of his bad experience with my Employer in the past. He did not hesitate to inform me that the facility team members had failed his wife and him in operations of the temperature of his room. The experience he had, has absolutely nothing to do with me. It does not dictate my ability or decision making in my management skills nor my understanding of building operations in all trades. After the interview both the Chief engineer and facility manager for CBRE were in complete and total shock. They could not believe how I was treated and quickly informed me that CBRE does not stand for that type of behavior. As an interviewee I am in complete shock. I have been in management roles before and handled interviews and I never would have made a potential employee feel the way that he made me feel that day. I am hoping that he hears he cannot treat people with such disrespect. He made me feel degraded and dehumanized by the end of the interview to the point that I would never recommend anyone work for Broadcom if this is the current culture of the workplace.

This was the best job I ever had. My hard work was always recognized, the company had good pay and benefits, my team consisted of really good people, and I had the best supervisor ever. If I move back to Colorado the first thing I will do is try to work there again.

This is a horrible company to work for and I would warn anyone to avoid this place at all costs. Nepotism runs rampant. They STILL force their employees to wear masks and test daily (COVID) just to work. The management team is petty and the definition of unprofessional. They pick and choose who to advance and target and retaliate against those they deem undesirable. Broadcoms HR will terminate you if you dare to complain about said managers and will dismiss any issues you bring to them. August of 2021, Broadcom brought in armed security guards to intimidate the workforce into to taking the mandatory COVID vaccination even though it was deemed unconstitutional. Hak Tan, the CEO has publicly stated he hates hourly workers and was always threatening to shut down WSD because he hates fabs. Broadcom is beyond a toxic work environment and works in quid pro quo and hostile work environments. There a plenty of manufacturing jobs available and this place (Broadcom) is to be avoided at all costs. Managers are treated as the elite class and they rule with an iron fist if you dare to question them. Broadcom is a cancer and I would strongly advise NOT working for such a disgusting company.
